Sun Xiaowei remained silent.
Just then, the store manager's phone rang, and she hurriedly ran to a corner to answer it.
After finishing the call, she returned to Sun Xiaowei with a cold expression. "Sun Xiaowei, I'm informing you on behalf of the head office that you haven't passed your probation period. You don't need to come to the store tomorrow."
Sun Xiaowei was stunned, but what was worse was yet to come.
"There is no contract during the trial period, so all your actions during the trial period are unrelated to our store."
After saying that, she turned and left without waiting for Sun Xiaowei's reaction.
Even a moment's hesitation could lead to being implicated by Sun Xiaowei.
Sun Xiaowei was completely taken aback.
Perhaps no one had ever treated her like this in her previous life, so she had no experience in dealing with it.
"What are you all standing there for?" Hua Fei's voice rang out again. "The Liu family will be here soon. Have you thought about how to deal with them?"
Sun Xiaowei turned her head and saw Hua Fei with her arms crossed, her face showing no attempt to hide her schadenfreude.
She suddenly realized, "It was you! You arranged all of this!"
Hua Fei chuckled, "How does it feel to be arranged for someone?"
"But even if you think I arranged all of this, so what?" Hua Fei shrugged. "When the Liu family arrives later, they'll still cause you trouble."
"Mrs. Liu may be disfigured, and the compensation you have to pay will be substantial."
“If you can’t pay it, they will definitely ask your relatives for it… Sun Xiaowei, your relatives should still be taking good care of you, right?”
Sun Xiaowei bit her lip until it bled, but she couldn't utter a single word.
Hua Fei sneered, "Looks like I guessed wrong. Your relatives won't care about you. Sigh, I wonder if the Liu family will call the police. How many years would they be sentenced for intentional assault?"
Sun Xiaowei stared wide-eyed in horror!
Is her life really going to end up in prison?
No!
no way!
Her mind raced, and she suddenly realized something.
If Huafei's goal was to send her to prison, they wouldn't have bothered to notify her.
"What exactly do you want to do!" Sun Xiaowei asked.
Hua Fei smiled. "You're smart. You know what I want."
Sun Xiaowei had an idea. "You want that child back."
Hua Fei glanced out the window in the corridor. "The Liu family is downstairs. Whether they come upstairs or not is just a matter of my word."
“Then let them come up,” Sun Xiaowei’s attitude changed, she became arrogant, “Let them kill me, anyway, there’s no point in living anymore.”
"Oh? You mean it?" Hua Fei raised an eyebrow. "That's easy."
She took out her phone without hesitation.
“You…” Sun Xiaowei was stunned. Wasn’t Hua Fei trying to find out where the child was? Why wasn’t she being threatened by her?
“Sun Xiaowei, I can send you to prison first, and then I have a hundred ways to torture you until you are willing to reveal the clues.”
Sun Xiaowei felt a chill run down her spine.
She knew that Huafi could do it now.
Noisy footsteps could already be heard from the other end of the corridor.
Shadows loomed, and a sense of oppression drew near.
"I... give me some time," Sun Xiaowei conceded, "It's been too long, I need to think it through..."
"I only glanced at that child once before having him sent away... I'm not lying to you, I really need to think about this carefully!"
Those people drew closer and were now behind Hua Fei.
But Hua Fei just looked at her with suspicion.
Sun Xiaowei broke out in a cold sweat and turned to run, but her legs went weak and powerless.
Finally, Huafei raised his hand.
The Liu family members all stopped in their tracks.
Sun Xiaowei secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but then even more cold sweat poured down her back.
Hua Fei asked, "How much time do you need? Can you give me a precise lead?"
"Two or three days, I guess." Sun Xiaowei swallowed nervously.
Hua Fei gave a wink to the Liu family members behind him.
The leader, General Manager Liu, said, "I don't care if it takes two or three days. First, sign a compensation agreement for me, or you're not allowed to leave."
This compensation agreement was used by Huafeng to restrain Sun Xiaowei.
If she doesn't give an answer soon, the Liu family will threaten her with the agreement.
Sun Xiaowei had no choice but to agree.
"I'll wait for your answer." After witnessing Sun Xiaowei sign the compensation agreement, Hua Fei coldly uttered these words to her and turned to leave.
"drop!"
Hua Fei walked out of the hospital gate, where Gu Fanyan was waiting for her in the car.
Once she was in the car, she let out a deep breath.
"How does it feel to retaliate against Sun Xiaowei?" Gu Fanyan asked.
Hua Fei shook his head, looking exhausted.
"What's wrong?" Gu Fanyan asked. "It's not as satisfying as I imagined. Isn't it satisfying to get revenge on Sun Xiaowei, or is it that I haven't gotten revenge enough?"
“It feels terrible to hurt others,” Hua Fei said in a somber tone. “Why can’t we just live our own lives peacefully instead of scheming against others?”
Gu Fanyan looked at her with both pity and admiration, "You're used to saving people, so you don't want to hurt them."
"But good things are so rare; how can you get them without fighting for them?"
"Take Huo Beichen for example. There's only one of him. You can't just split him in two and give one to you and one to Sun Xiaowei, can you?"
Hua Fei looked at her gratefully. "Thank you for comforting me, but this realization is so profound that you shouldn't have said it aloud."
In Hua Fei's eyes, Gu Fanyan was truly born with a silver spoon in her mouth; she was beautiful, had a good temperament, and was an absolute epitome of wealth and privilege.
Gu Fanyan smiled. "I'm not just Miss Gu now, I'm also President Gu."
The trials and tribulations she endured were no less than those of ordinary people.
When Hua Fei returned to the Huo family home, it was already past dinner time.
"Madam is back," Aunt Li asked. "Shall we start dinner now?"
"Dinner hasn't been served yet?" Hua Fei frowned. "Is this Huo Beichen's doing? Doesn't he care if Zeze goes hungry?"
“Young master has already eaten, and so have we,” Aunt Li replied. “Only the master is waiting for you.”
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to the side, something seemed off.
Hua Fei turned around and saw that Huo Beichen had arrived at the stairwell at some point.
He must have heard her complaints.
However, what did the hurt look in his eyes mean? Did he think her words were too much?
"Sir, Madam, the food is ready," Aunt Li said at the right moment, then left the living room.
In the vast space, only the two of them remained.
The awkward atmosphere immediately eased considerably.
Huo Beichen came to her side and said, "Dinner's ready." He took her hand and led her to the dining table.
“You don’t need to wait for me to eat,” she said as she sat down. “I’m going out to see patients; my schedule is irregular.”
Huo Beichen scoffed, "Given our relationship, isn't it only natural for me to wait for you to have dinner?"
Huafei was speechless for a moment.
She felt a little uncomfortable with his words and didn't know how to respond.
"I happened to be home today and took care of some business, so I missed dinner." As if sensing her discomfort, he added.
Hua Fei glanced at him, a faint warmth appearing in her eyes.
He added this sentence to make her feel that he was sincere.
She ate half a bowl of vegetables and said, "I found Sun Xiaowei today."
