Gu Fanyan brought the little dumpling home and busied herself giving him a bath and changing his clothes.
The nanny suddenly walked in and said, "Miss, Director Chen is here."
Gu Fanyan raised her eyes, a hint of displeasure flashing through her mind.
She didn't really want to see Chen Qiao.
But Chen Qiao had already come in with the nanny. She often did this before, so the nanny didn't stop her.
"Hey, Mr. Gu, you go and rest. I'll bathe him." Chen Qiao walked over naturally, took the bath sponge from Gu Fanyan's hand, and began to wipe the little dumpling's body.
She was used to doing these things.
Gu Fanyan sighed softly.
Chen Qiao had no idea about the complicated relationship between her and Lin Zhibai; she simply loved Lin Zhibai.
It's not very kind of her to sulk over this.
"Thank you for your hard work." Gu Fanyan smiled slightly and left the bathroom first.
She went to the kitchen and told the nanny to add two of Chen Qiao's favorite dishes for dinner.
Before long, Chen Qiao came downstairs with the cleaned-up little meat bun.
Gu Fanyan immediately noticed the golden longevity lock around the little dumpling's neck.
"Why are you wearing this?" Gu's mother noticed it and immediately asked.
“It was given to me by Aunt Lin, and she asked me to bring it over,” Chen Qiao said with a smile. “She said that given the relationship between the Lin family and the Gu family, she should give this child a gift.”
Gu Fanyan was stunned. It turned out that Chen Qiao had come specifically to deliver this gift.
Without asking her or Gu's mother, they took it upon themselves to put it on the child.
Mother Gu saw through the mystery at a glance and asked, "Xiao Chen, you and Old Madam Lin have a good relationship. Such an expensive gift was delivered by you."
Chen Qiao smiled and shook her head: "I only met Aunt Lin not long ago."
"How did you meet?" Gu's mother pressed.
“I… my mom knows Lin Shao’s third aunt,” Chen Qiao said with a blush on her face. “Lin Shao’s third aunt introduced me to Lin Shao on a blind date.”
Mother Gu was startled, but she didn't show it. "I see. This is a good thing. Old Mrs. Lin values you so much, so this matter must be settled."
Chen Qiao blushed: "Who knows? Nobody can say for sure."
Even so, a hint of sweetness flickered across her lips.
Gu Fanyan sat at the small bar next to the restaurant, quietly drinking her coffee.
Hearing this, she spoke up, "Mom, how's it going with the traditional Chinese medicine doctor you mentioned last time, who you said you'd find for Xiaoroubao to regulate his stomach and intestines?"
"I've asked," Gu's mother sighed inwardly, Gu Fanyan was deliberately changing the subject, "but we haven't arranged a time yet, let's go together when we do."
"What's wrong with Xiao Roubao's stomach?" Chen Qiao asked with concern.
"It's nothing, just a little indigestion, I'll take care of it," Gu Fanyan replied calmly.
After dinner, Gu Fanyan took her little dumpling for a stroll in the garden.
Chen Qiao walked over, her eyes timid: "President Gu, I'm going to see Lin's mother. Are you unhappy?"
Gu Fanyan asked curiously, "Why would I be unhappy?"
Chen Qiao lowered her eyes: "I didn't know you were already thinking of a solution. I went to Lin's mother just to give it a try, but I didn't expect her to agree."
Gu Fanyan remained silent, unable to discern whether Chen Qiao was apologizing or showing off.
"You're thinking of the company, and I thank you on behalf of the company." After saying that, she turned to look at the little dumpling playing not far away, hiding her true emotions in the night.
Chen Qiao stared at her figure, the timid look in her eyes disappearing, gradually revealing a hint of resentment.
After playing for a while, Gu Fanyan asked the nanny to watch the little dumpling and went into the living room alone.
Mrs. Gu asked bluntly, "What's the story with this Miss Chen?"
“She doesn’t know about me and Lin Zhibai,” Gu Fanyan replied.
"Stop defending her," Gu's mother said. "I can tell whether she's human or demon. Don't let her come to our house anymore; she annoys me."
"And also, what's the story behind the little meat bun? Does Lin Zhibai know?" Gu's mother continued to ask.
"Does he even know what's so important?" Gu Fanyan walked upstairs.
Mother Gu shook her head and sighed softly.
"Grandma!" Suddenly, a small figure darted to her side.
His clever appearance immediately won over Gu's mother. "Little dumpling, are you tired from playing ball?"
The little dumpling shook its head and said mysteriously, "Grandma, I didn't go to play ball. I was listening to you talking outside."
Gu's mother chuckled: "So what did you hear?"
"Grandma, who is Lin Zhibai?" the little dumpling asked.
Mother Gu's expression changed slightly. This child was young, but his mind was almost as sharp as an adult's.
“Him? He’s an insignificant person,” Gu’s mother replied. “He’s Aunt Chen Qiao’s blind date.”
The little dumpling blinked its big eyes, "What does 'blind date' mean?"
"If an adult wants to find a marriage partner, they can go on blind dates."
The little dumpling understood: "My mom is an adult too, why doesn't she go on blind dates?"
"Her..." Gu's mother paused, then said, "That's right, how come I didn't think of that? Other people can go on blind dates, why can't your mother?"
This will be arranged immediately!
...
Lin Zhibai finally sobered up. He spurted his aching head to the kitchen and drank two large glasses of ice water in one go.
"I've given the office space in the downtown area to Gu Fanyan's company," her mother's voice suddenly rang out. "Just letting you know."
Upon hearing the name "Gu Fanyan," he raised his eyes.
“Don’t misunderstand,” Mom continued, “I’m not doing this because of Gu Fanyan; it was Chen Qiao who found me.”
Lin Zhibai frowned: "How come I knew nothing about this?"
“You don’t need to worry about such a small matter,” Mom said again. “I’ve met Gu Fanyan and given her a gift.”
“Zhibai, listen to my advice, you should let it go.”
"She can get married and have children, why can't you?"
Lin Zhibai slammed the cup down on the table, his gaze turning cold: "Mom, don't interfere in my private affairs."
"Besides, I don't have those kinds of feelings for Chen Qiao. If you do so much and she misunderstands, I won't be responsible for anything that happens!"
After saying that, he left without looking back.
Lin's mother was feeling resentful, and her face looked very unpleasant.
"Madam, please don't upset yourself. Just let the young master be," the nanny advised from the side.
"Do you think I would really be interested in Chen Qiao?" Lin's mother said angrily. "It's all because Gu Fanyan is going too far!"
"I'll show everyone that I'd rather have Chen Qiao, who's inferior to her in every way, come into the house than have her!"
The nanny was speechless.
Miss Gu isn't two-timing.
Lin's mother is so obsessed with her son getting married and having children that she's taken her anger out on Miss Gu.
Lin Zhibai arrived at the company and went straight to his subordinate's office.
"Young Master Lin!" The person in charge of the lease was taken aback, not expecting the chairman to come to his office.
"The lease agreement with Gu Fanyan's company," Lin Zhibai said.
"Huh?" The person in charge was taken aback. "I was just about to send it over."
"To whom should it be sent?" Lin Zhibai asked.
“Chen Qiao,” the person in charge replied, “that’s what the old lady meant.”
