Sheng Xin obediently agreed, lowered her head and ate a couple of bites of rice, then started talking again.
“Miss Gu, don’t be too anxious. I’ve heard people say that if someone cares about you a lot, they won’t let anything happen to them.”
Yun Suiwan couldn't hold back any longer and asked directly, "Who are you? Are you close to Sister Fanyan?"
Sheng Xin was stunned.
Yun Suiwan continued, "I've never met you before, and you're probably not Sister Fanyan's friend. Since you're not friends, don't rush to comfort me; it makes me feel awkward."
Sheng Xin's face turned pale and then red, her embarrassment was quite a sight.
“I…I’m Zhi Bai’s girlfriend,” she hurriedly defended herself. “My name is Sheng Xin.”
"Your name is unimportant," Yun Suiwan said with a cold smile. "Lin Zhibai has more girlfriends than I have clothes; I can't possibly remember them all."
Sheng Xin was completely speechless, her face turning bright red.
Lu Dongjue and Lin Zhibai could both tell that Yun Suiwan was angry, so they remained silent.
Gu Fanyan put down her chopsticks and bowl. "Wanwan, I'm done eating."
Yun Suiwan then let Sheng Xin go and left with Gu Fanyan and Lu Dongjue.
Sheng Xin's tears instantly rolled down her cheeks, she sobbed, her face full of grievance.
Lin Zhibai sighed silently, "Why did you provoke her?"
"Who is she?" Sheng Xin asked.
She felt that Yun Suiwan looked somewhat familiar, but couldn't remember where she had seen her before.
"Yun Suiwan, the eldest daughter of the Yun family, and the president of the Yun Group."
"That man just now, Lu Dongjue, the eldest son of the Lu Group, is her fiancé."
Sheng Xin's tears froze in shock.
She understood perfectly what those two names meant.
This means that she is someone you can't afford to offend.
Her tears, which had been frozen in shock, resumed and streamed down her face. "Brother Zhibai, have I caused you trouble? Does your company have business dealings with us? Miss Yun won't cancel the cooperation just because she's angry with me, will she?"
Lin Zhibai's eyes widened in surprise; Sheng Xin's thought process was quite peculiar.
However, the fact that she said that shows she cares about him.
"Finish your meal first, and I'll have someone take you home later," he said.
"Aren't you going back?" Sheng Xin asked.
Lin Zhibai shook his head.
“Then I won’t go back,” Sheng Xin said. “I’ll stay and wait for the results together. With me by your side, it won’t be so boring.”
Lin Zhibai frowned slightly, but he couldn't refute those words.
After the meal, Lin Zhibai took her to the car to wait.
After spending most of the day there, she was exhausted and fell asleep on the back seat, clutching a blanket.
Lin Zhibai sat in the passenger seat, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
But the darkness ahead made it impossible for him to see if Gu Fanyan was still waiting on the dock.
“It’s been 21 hours since the incident,” the assistant in the driver’s seat reminded him.
Lin Zhibai said calmly, "I really hope that Murong Mo was washed ashore on a small island and is now trying to contact his family."
The assistant thought to herself that it was mostly just a movie plot.
The assistant noticed some lights on the sea approaching and asked, "Young Master Lin, is the rescue team's boat returning...?"
Before he could finish speaking, Lin Zhibai had already gotten out of the car and left.
Before leaving, he didn't forget to tell her: "Keep an eye on Shengxin. If things don't work out, take her home first."
The assistant agreed.
Lin Zhibai arrived at the dock. Gu Fanyan was there, as were Lu Dongjue and Yun Suiwan. Many people from the Murong and Gu families had also come over.
Everyone was hoping for good news.
The rescue team members disembarked one after another. The team leader stopped in front of the Murong couple, removed his mask, and said, "We didn't find them."
"The temperature is too low at night, making the search and rescue operation too difficult. We're calling it a day and will have to continue tomorrow," he said.
Murong's mother was speechless; she was on the verge of collapse.
Suddenly, an elder woman from the Mu family burst into tears: "We've been searching for so long, and we still haven't found him. Will we be able to find him tomorrow... Is Xiao Mo gone?"
Even the strongest couple couldn't bear it when they heard those words, and they both collapsed to the ground.
"master!"
"Mrs!"
The crowd quickly helped the two people up.
Murong's father was filled with grief, his eyes tightly closed, unable to speak.
Murong's mother sobbed, but couldn't cry.
"What should we do? Call an ambulance quickly!"
"Don't wait for the ambulance, get to the hospital right away."
"Both of them have high blood pressure, let's hope nothing else happens."
"I'm fine," Murong's mother finally spoke, "Xiao Mo will come back, I'm waiting for Xiao Mo to come back!"
You need to take care of yourself first.
"It's good news that it hasn't been found yet; maybe we'll have good news tomorrow."
"You two shouldn't stay here all night. What if you collapse from exhaustion?"
However, no matter how much everyone tried to persuade her, Murong's mother refused to leave the dock.
"Dad, Mom," Gu Fanyan called softly as she approached.
But her voice was very powerful.
The crowd immediately fell silent.
Gu Fanyan squatted down in front of the two elderly people. "Dad, Mom, let me take you to the tent to rest."
“Fan Yan…” Murong’s mother grasped her hand, tears streaming down her face, and nodded.
With everyone's help, Gu Fanyan helped the two elderly people into a tent.
She picked up two thick coats and draped them over the two of them.
Then two cups of hot tea were brought to the two of them.
Looking at their quiet and composed prospective daughter-in-law, and then thinking of their son whose fate was unknown, the Murong couple's eyes reddened again.
“Dad, Mom,” Gu Fanyan said calmly, “Murong will be alright. I believe he will come back.”
The Murong couple nodded.
They could only nod; they had no other reaction.
Gu Fanyan continued, "Dad, Mom, you two get some rest. I'll go to the dock and wait for him."
The Murong couple were taken aback. They wanted to tell her that it was cold at night and that she shouldn't go, but Gu Fanyan had already walked out of the tent.
Murong's father sighed softly, "Let her go. She's not feeling any better than we are."
Murong's mother looked worried: "My heart is pounding, I have a feeling something is about to happen."
Murong's father thought to himself, what could be worse than his son's situation? So he didn't respond.
Yun Suiwan hadn't been sitting in another tent for long when Xiao Wu came over to report: "Miss, I just saw Miss Gu heading towards the dock again."
"Is she alone?" Yun Suiwan sat up straight.
“She’s all alone.” Xiao Wu nodded.
Yun Suiwan immediately stood up and walked out of the tent. Lu Dongjue grabbed her arm and said, "I'll have someone keep an eye on things. You can rest for a while."
Yun Suiwan shook her head: "This isn't something to keep an eye on right now; Sister Fanyan needs someone to be with her."
"I'll go first, you get some sleep. You can take over when I really can't take it anymore."
Lu Dongjue frowned: "Me, take over? It would be better to let Lin Zhibai do it."
Yun Suiwan felt a headache coming on when she thought of Lin Zhibai's girlfriend. "Let's talk about it later."
However, she hadn't gone far from the tent when she ran into the woman who was giving her a headache.
"Miss Yun!" Sheng Xin rushed towards her, her face full of guilt. "Miss Yun, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you angry!"
