Chapter 7 Our Marriage is a Fake One

Upon seeing this, Yun's father immediately said, "Quickly, have someone bring iodine."

Seeing how much Lu Dongjue cared for Yun Suiwan, Yun Wanqing couldn't help but feel a little jealous.

"Qingqing, your neck looks serious. Mom will take you to get it checked out." Li Xiaoyun held Yun Wanqing's hand tightly.

"Mmm." Yun Wanqing nodded, her voice choked with emotion.

"Let's go."

Yun Suiwan watched the mother and daughter leave, a hint of disappointment in her eyes.

"Does it hurt a lot?"

Lu Dongjue's voice brought her back to reality.

Yun Suiwan looked at Lu Dongjue with red eyes, and the confusion in her eyes made Lu Dongjue pause for a moment.

"I asked you if it hurts?"

"pain."

She used to always endure it, thinking that enduring it would prevent her from causing trouble for the adults, but now she knows that enduring it only makes her suffer.

Lu Dongjue frowned. "Let's go apply the medicine."

"Um."

Upon entering the living room, a maid approached with medicine.

Yun Suiwan sat upright in the chair. The maid dipped a cotton swab in iodine. She made a very gentle gesture, but when she touched the wound, she secretly applied more pressure.

"Hmm." Yun Suiwan groaned in pain, her gaze turning cold as she looked at the maid.

The maid hurriedly stood up, apologizing repeatedly, "Miss Wanwan, I didn't mean it, please don't punish me, I know I was wrong." Then, as if afraid of Yun Suiwan's revenge, she knelt down on the ground with a thud.

Yun Suiwan gently touched her face. When she saw the servant kneeling, she probably already understood what was going on.

She couldn't help but look at Lu Dongjue, only to see that he had a cold face and looked like he was someone to be avoided.

Forget it, he had a long-standing prejudice against her, so he didn't care about adding "arrogant and domineering" to the list.

Just then, Lu Dongjue suddenly said coldly, "If you can't even handle such a small matter, what use are you to the Yun family?"

Not only Yun Suiwan, but everyone else was stunned.

“Uncle Yun, there’s no use keeping such a clumsy person around. I’ll send two more quick and efficient people to your residence another day.”

"This...this..." Father Yun looked troubled. He dared not dismiss anyone in the family so easily; he had to ask his wife about such a matter.

"Mr. Lu, Mr. Lu, I was wrong, please forgive me, Mr. Lu!" the maid said, kneeling in front of Lu Dongjue and crying.

"Get out!"

Seeing that Lu Dongjue had indeed lost his temper, Yun's father gave a wink, signaling the others to pull the maid away.

Yun Suiwan stared blankly at Lu Dongjue. What was he doing? Was he standing up for her?

Just as she was wondering, Lu Dongjue stepped forward, took the cotton swab, and held her chin with one hand.

Their faces were very close together. Yun Suiwan subconsciously held her breath, her whole body tense, as Lu Dongjue carefully wiped her wounds.

The cool minty scent emanating from him hit her nose.

Suddenly, her cheeks felt hot.

She quickly lowered her eyes, not daring to meet his gaze again.

After applying the medicine, Lu Dongjue pinched her chin and looked her over. "Hmm, it's not a big problem, it won't leave a scar."

She looked up, and their eyes met. She parted her slightly red lips and said, "Thank you."

"You still have to see Grandpa. If he finds out you're injured, he'll definitely be angry. Protect yourself and don't get hurt," Lu Dongjue said in a low voice.

"..."

Yun Suiwan's newly formed gratitude was instantly shattered by him.

He stood up for himself only because he was afraid of being blamed by Old Master Lu.

Bai's mother was moved.

"Alright, alright, as long as it won't leave a scar. Wanwan, sit with Dongjue for a while, I'll have the kitchen prepare lunch," Mr. Xiao said with a smile.

"Okay, Dad."

**

At lunchtime, Yun Suiwan was sitting in the living room.

"Wanwan, where's Dongjue? Dinner's ready," Mr. Xiao asked as he walked over.

Yun Suiwan sat on the sofa and fell asleep at some point. She was startled awake when she heard her father's voice.

"Oh, I'll go find him."

Yun Suiwan stood up and walked upstairs. As soon as she got upstairs, she heard the voices of a man and a woman.

“Brother Dongjue, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scratch my sister’s face, it was her… I just couldn’t take it anymore. She called me into her room and started verbally abusing me. She said she was already Mrs. Lu and told me to get lost. I…”

Yun Wanqing cried, her face streaked with tears. When she was so heartbroken, she choked up and couldn't even speak.

"Brother Dongjue, I know I can't be with you in this life, but I hope you can find a wife who loves you, cherishes you, and cares for you, instead of someone who has been deceiving you all this time..."

"Wanqing, let bygones be bygones. Now that you're back, live your life well." Lu Dongjue's voice was low and serious.

Yun Suiwan leaned against the wall, listening quietly to their conversation.

“Brother Dongjue, my sister won’t let me stay at home. I know I was adopted and not well-liked, but it’s so lonely abroad. If she kicks me out again, I’ll just have to die.”

"Don't worry, stay home and I won't let anything happen to you."

As Yun Suiwan looked up, tears welled up in her eyes for no apparent reason.

A man can be stupid once, but he can't be stupid forever.

When people do things, they need their hearts, not their ears.

To listen without debating is foolish.

"But my sister won't agree..."

After a moment of silence, Lu Dongjue said, "Our marriage is fake. With me here, she won't dare to do anything to you."

Upon hearing this, Yun Suiwan's remaining affection for him vanished instantly.

To harbor deep love for someone who doesn't love you is to only hurt yourself.

Yun Suiwan had no intention of listening anymore, so she turned around and went downstairs.

"Brother Dongjue, thank you." Yun Wanqing said, and then snuggled into his arms.

However, Lu Dongjue took a step back, barely dodging the attack.

Yun Wanqing looked somewhat embarrassed as she stared blankly at Lu Dongjue.

"Wanqing, although our marriage is sham, our actions represent both the Yun and Lu families. Loyalty to each other is the most basic principle." The implication was that while it was a sham marriage, they were still husband and wife in name, and he would not engage in any intimate behavior with other women during the marriage.

Upon hearing this, Yun Wanqing shed tears of resentment.

She laughed and said, "Sister, what a brilliant scheme you have! At first, she conspired with Grandma to force me away and break us up. Now that I've just returned, she's already giving me a hard time. Dongjue, I love you so much, why can't we be together? Is it just because of my status?"

Seeing Yun Wanqing crying so sadly, Lu Dongjue felt a pang of pity. He wanted to pat her on the shoulder and tell her to be brave, but in the end he did nothing.

"Take a break and cry for a while to calm yourself down."

After saying that, Lu Dongjue turned and went downstairs.

After he went downstairs, Yun Wanqing immediately stopped crying. She stared blankly at Lu Dongjue's back. Shouldn't he have come to comfort her?
