Chapter 660: Heart still as water

The next morning, before leaving, Gu Fanyan went to the child's hospital room.

His fever had subsided, but he was still half asleep. Gu Fanyan called his name twice, and he only responded with two soft "hmm" sounds, sounding quite impatient.

"Yesterday's high fever must have taken a toll on your energy, so let the child sleep more," the nurse said.

So she entrusted her child to her assistant's care and walked out of the hospital building.

A car slowly came to a stop in front of the building. Chen Qiao got out of the passenger seat. "Thank goodness you made it in time. Mr. Gu, why don't you drive your own car over?"

Gu Fanyan set up an office here to facilitate cooperation with the Liang family, and this car was provided by the office.

The mechanic from the repair shop got out of the driver's seat.

Gu Fanyan, unsuspecting, drove away.

Chen Qiaochong asked the mechanic, "Is the car's problem fixed? Is there anything else wrong?"

The repairman replied, "No problem with safekeeping, may your wishes come true."

Chen Qiao stared at the car's silhouette, a half-smile playing on her lips.

Gu Fanyan drove towards the hotel where Lin Zhibai was staying, thinking about what she had said to him yesterday.

That seems a bit excessive.

Seeing his relentless attitude and the fact that she couldn't reason with him, she was really annoyed.

She stopped at the red light, her gaze falling on the hanging ornament in the rearview mirror.

It was an art piece engraved with a peace mantra, which Liang Zixin specially hung up.

If Lin Zhibai sees this, he'll probably make a few sarcastic remarks, and if he goes to see Liang's father with some resentment, today's conversation will be full of tension again.

She wanted to remove the car hanger.

Unexpectedly, Liang Zixin tied a very secure knot, and she couldn't remove it no matter how many times she tried.

She parked her car on the side of the road, thought for a moment, and cut off the car hanger; there was no need.

Are there any other solutions...?

"Young Master Lin," the assistant said in a hoarse voice as he entered the room, "Miss Gu has arrived."

Lin Zhibai agreed, grabbed his coat, and walked out.

"Young Master Lin..." The assistant was incredulous. He actually went?! Has he really gone mad?!

Lin Zhibai left without looking back.

As he stepped out of the elevator and into the hotel lobby, he immediately spotted that familiar figure.

His heart couldn't help but race... Even knowing that she and the other men had conspired to harm him, he still couldn't suppress the flutter in his heart when he saw her.

Gu Fanyan also saw him, stood up, and her gaze was much calmer than he had imagined.

A pang of pain surged in his chest.

She had truly reached a point of complete indifference towards him.

He walked up to her, his gaze involuntarily probing.

Gu Fanyan sensed that he was acting strangely. Then she thought about it and realized that he had been somewhat pressured to talk to Liang's father today, so it was normal for him to feel awkward.

She ignored it and turned to walk away.

Lin Zhibai followed her outside; he had never felt this way before.

With each step, my feet felt as heavy as lead.

But with each step forward, I felt a sense of relief.

Even if he were to die today, it would be at her hands.

He has no regrets.

Finally, she walked out of the lobby and downstairs... There were taxis parked outside, but she didn't see her car anywhere.

Gu Fanyan opened the door of a taxi and got in.

Lin Zhibai was stunned.

Gu Fanyan frowned and urged, "Get in the car."

He sat down in the car in a daze, and saw a taxi driver sitting in the driver's seat, wearing a taxi company uniform.

A living, breathing person.

If they planned to kill him, there was no need to sacrifice this living person as well, right?

"A taxi?" He raised an eyebrow in confusion, unable to understand for a moment what kind of trap they had set for him.

"Has Young Master Lin never taken a taxi in his life?" Gu Fanyan asked sarcastically.

She didn't tell him that she actually thought of taking a taxi because she couldn't remove the car hanger that Liang Zixin had given her.

Lin Zhibai also scoffed.

He realized that taxi drivers could also impersonate others; they were just trying to lower his guard.

Now that everyone's on the bus, let's wait and see what they're going to do.

...

When Liang Zixin arrived at the hospital ward, she heard Chen Qiao say, "You should sleep a little longer. You need to be well-rested so you'll have the energy to play."

His heart leaped with joy, and he strode into the ward, saying, "Little dumpling, you're awake!"

Liang Mufan did wake up, but upon seeing Liang Zixin, he immediately lowered his eyes, looking unhappy.

A hint of panic flashed in Chen Qiao's eyes.

"Little Meatball, what's wrong?" Liang Zixin was puzzled by his change in mood.

“He just woke up and doesn’t have much strength yet,” Chen Qiao quickly said. “Young Master Liang, why don’t you go ahead and get busy? I can watch over things here.”

"Hey, Young Master Liang..."

Chen Qiao couldn't believe that Liang Zixin had actually grabbed her by the back of her collar and lifted her up, all the way to the door of the ward.

"I'm talking to my son, you have no right to interfere," Liang Zixin warned coldly, then slammed the door shut.

Chen Qiao tried to knock on the door, but Liang Zixin's assistant, who was waiting outside, immediately stopped her, saying, "Didn't you hear what Young Master Liang said?"

Liang Zixin's assistant is a burly man who is 1.9 meters tall and has the physique to knock someone unconscious with a single punch.

Chen Qiao dared not say anything more and left dejectedly.

"Little dumpling, Liang Mufan?" Liang Zixin turned around and smiled at the little one on the hospital bed. "What did Daddy do to upset you? Tell Daddy so he can hear it, okay?"

His amusing demeanor put Liang Mufan at ease; after all, the memories he had of Liang Mufan were all warm.

"Dad," he asked sadly, "why did you harm Lin's father and my mother?"

Liang Zixin was shocked, "Who wants to harm your mother!"

Liang Mufan recounted what he had overheard that night. At this point, his mind was clear, and his words were very coherent.

Liang Zixin's face grew increasingly grim... He knew the child wasn't lying.

He also had doubts about his father's actions and asked him about them, but his father deliberately kept it from him.

"Dad, will Mom and Uncle Lin be alright?" Liang Mufan's eyes welled up with tears.

Liang Zixin immediately picked up the phone and called Gu Fanyan.

A moment later, Gu Fanyan answered the phone, "Zixin, what's wrong?"

Liang Zixin took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "Fan Yan, are you driving?"

I wasn't driving.

"You're with Lin Zhibai?"

"right."

"Listen to me, no matter what, stop the car and don't drive your own car anymore."

"Hey, hey, Zixin, your signal isn't very good..."

"Hey, hey, Fanyan, can you hear me...?"

"Zixin, I can't hear you... I'm fine here. I'll see your father soon. Let's talk later."

"Hey, hey, Fanyan..."

Liang Zixin looked down at her phone and noticed with puzzlement that the cell phone signal in the ward was very unstable.

He desperately wanted to rush to Gu Fanyan's side, but at the same time, he was keenly aware that he should calm down and deal with some things.

“Son,” he looked at Liang Mufan, “have you told anyone else about this?”
