Chapter 5 Cloud Tribe and Sea Tribe

The chief didn't know what the new words "pottery" and "salt" that Ma Yue mentioned meant, so he just followed Ma Yue's request and went to the big and wealthy tribe.

The team headed north, into the vast jungle. Ma Yue remembered visiting several tribes with the hunting party. The vast jungle had boundaries (at least, there were some along the coast), not all of it continuous. Otherwise, where would the other tribes live?

Of course, there are also many small tribes living in trees. Don’t be surprised. Primitive people think living in trees is safe. It’s normal.

It was almost late autumn, and before winter set in, any game we could find would at least help supplement the tribe's food supply. It was difficult, though. Ferocious beasts like tigers and leopards were impossible to handle or defeat; antelopes and deer were impossible to catch; and even rabbits were nimble and fast... In short, hunting wild animals was truly difficult.

Why are there so few young men and women in the Mao tribe? Even on relatively safe hunting routes, there are still occasional attacks from wild animals and poisonous insects, and the mortality rate of young men and women is actually the highest.

Look, when Ma Yue first traveled through time, it was spring and winter had not yet arrived. There were only ten hunting teams of strong men and women left in the tribe. The other three died on the way to hunting.

The more cautious you are, the less you will gain. To put it bluntly, the muscular leader may be becoming more and more courageous.

However, this time, Ma Yue, the most charlatan in the tribe, came along, and the leader had to show his courage, no matter how brave he was. At least, he didn't look timid anymore, and he looked a little majestic.

Walking in the deep mountains and old forests, the hunting team of ten people were divided into two rows, on both sides of Ma Yue, with the intention of protecting Ma Yue being obvious. Ma Yue still looked very thin and weak, not as strong as the women in the hunting team.

We've been walking for almost a day. Along the way, we came across two rabbits. Ma Yue thought the meat was too little and didn't even bother to eat them. Damn! I'm so hungry, rabbit! If you dare to come out again, I'll kill you no matter what. Even if a rabbit is small, it's still meat, right?

"Oh, oh..." The leader encountered a hunting party from another tribe. He identified them and went over to greet them. They seemed quite familiar. A joint hunt? It wasn't unprecedented; it usually involved collaboration between smaller tribes, requiring relatively familiarity.

Whatever, no matter what, let’s get food first.

Ma Yue was a minor priest, after all, so the Cloud Tribe's hunting chief greeted Ma Yue with some respect. Ma Yue's tribe was known as the Sea Tribe, presumably because it was the tribe closest to the sea.

My tribe only has ten able-bodied men, while they have seventeen able-bodied men and women. Pretty miserable, isn't it? Even though they're all small tribes, there's still a gap in strength. The most obvious manifestation of this gap is the number of able-bodied men in the hunting team.

The two leaders muttered to each other, and Ma Yue understood roughly what they were talking about. They were going to cooperate in hunting, and they needed to first agree on the distribution ratio. Ma Yue roughly understood why his tribe's hunting team had once brought back half a wild boar. It was the result of cooperative hunting.

Ma Yue was lucky enough to be counted as a head, thanks to the Yun tribe leader's consideration for Ma Yue's status as a minor priest. Otherwise, with Ma Yue's skinny, dog-like body...

How can I grow without nutrition? Damn it! I am only about twelve years old. In my previous life, I was the future flower of the motherland.

Even primitive people had strategies for hunting, and different hunting strategies were used by different people. Don't think that primitive people were stupid or mentally retarded. After doing it many times, they would have gained experience.

For an extra layer of insurance, Ma Yue found a good wooden stick along the way, which served as a layer of defense.

Ma Yue finally realized the awesomeness of the leader of the 'Yun' tribe. From a long distance, a wooden spear similar to the one in Ma Yue's hand flew out and hit the target of the galloping sika deer. Awesome!

"Eat!" Ma Yue cried inwardly, but the leader of the Cloud tribe disagreed, and the leader of the Sea tribe took it for granted. After the harvest, it was generally brought back to the tribe's cave to share.

But Ma Yue was hungry.

Primitive people are indeed very hardworking. Two of them carried such a big elk and continued to follow the hunting team.

The leader of the 'Sea' tribe is obviously not good at 'flying gun' operations. Looking at the weapon in the hands of the 'Sea' tribe, which looks like a super large stone axe, he is probably a power-type player.

Okay! No matter how strong you are, can you be stronger than a beast? No wonder the Sea Tribe's harvest is so meager every time they hunt. In primitive society, long-range weapons are crucial. Even without bows and arrows, the flying spear is clearly the most powerful weapon. If you're stronger, you can still accurately hit targets from 20 to 30 meters away.

Wild boar! Wow, this one's head is twice as big as the giant sow from my previous life. The two tribes must have joined forces, and with confidence, the hunting team actually launched a siege on the giant wild boar.

Two strong men holding thick straw ropes, relying on this thing to intercept wild boars?

The leader of the 'Yun' tribe repeated his old tricks and shot his spear straight at the wild boar.

Could a stone-tipped wooden spear penetrate such thick wild boar hide? The boar, slightly punctured, grew even more hairy. The ropes held by the two strong men couldn't stop the charging boar; instead, the boar and the rope dragged them four or five meters away...

A brutal battle between man and pig. A middle-aged man was unfortunately pierced by the wild boar's sharp teeth, and a middle-aged woman was trampled by the wild boar...

Ma Yue couldn't bear to watch this any longer. For a small tribe, every able-bodied man was precious. He wasn't out for a picnic; he was part of a hunting party.
