Chapter 63 Concern (2)
Ever since Xu Que suffered a minor injury, Hou has been showering him with affection.
Before Xu Que was injured, Hou would spend most of her time figuring out how to jump rope better or how to twirl rope properly. She would also research the various hidden functions of the voice recorder. Drawing in her scrapbook was also a part of her life. However, after losing the voice recorder Xu Que gave her, she rarely drew anymore!
"You're not drawing the stone tablet commemorative album anymore? I haven't seen you drawing anything lately!" Xu Que said, patting the head that was crowding around him.
"Draw it! I'll finish it when I have time! You're injured now, how can I be in the mood to draw! I'm not in the mood at all!" The little hands, which had nowhere to go, pinched Xu Que's face, picked at his fur, and then carefully rubbed the area where he had been beaten by Ji. It was a picture of meticulous care.
Although Hou didn't constantly say how much she loved him, her actions clearly showed that Xu Que was her heart and soul.
"It's so lively outside, why don't we go out and play for a while? Listen to how well they recite the jump rope rhymes!" Xu Que was lying on the straw mat, and Hou turned to lie down next to him.
"I'm not going! I'll only think about eating, drinking, and having fun when you're fully healed and no longer in pain! Right now, I only have one wish: to stay by your side and silently protect you until you recover!" Hou gently leaned his head against Xu Que's side and said softly to her.
"How can you be so good! How can there be such a cute girl in this world! I bet ten bucks you're a fairy descended from heaven! I love you so much!" Xu Que said, turning around and pulling Hou into his arms. He reached out and gently patted her bottom rhythmically: "Soothing the baby, putting her to sleep, when she wakes up she looks for steamed buns, where are the steamed buns? The cat took them! Where are the cats? They ran to the valley, where are the valleys? They're weighed down by snow! Where are the snows? They've melted into water! Where are the waters? They've turned into mud! Where are the muds? They're on the wall! Where are the walls? They're blocking the wind!"
"No! No! This baby-soothing rhyme should be recited by the two of us, one line each, in turns! But you recited all my lines by yourself! What am I supposed to say? This isn't fun, this isn't fun! No way! If this keeps up, you'll end up putting me to sleep sooner or later! I need to pull myself together and open my eyes!" Hou said to Xu Que, forcefully opening his heavy eyelids.
"Brother Xu Que, your chanting is making me so sleepy! No, I can't fall asleep! I have to pull myself together and help you heal your wound!" He roared and rolled over.
He covered Xu Que with a pure animal hide quilt and gently patted the quilt on his chest: "Soothing baby, go to sleep, if you wake up you want steamed buns! Where are the steamed buns? The cat took them! Where is the cat? It climbed a tree, where is the tree? Your brother cut down the tree! Where is your brother? He got beaten up! Where is the person who beat up your brother? He ran into the woods behind the mountain! He was eaten by wild animals! Where are the snacks? They were swallowed by wild animals!"
"Wow! You're so smart! You can apply what you've learned to other situations! You learned the rhyme in one go! And you even created a new rhyme to lull the kids to sleep! You're really amazing!" Xu Que, who was lying on the straw mat, bored and conserving his energy, covered his palm with the hand that had been shouting.
"Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? If you're sleepy, just take a nap!" he roared at Xu Que.
Xu Que shook his head: "I'm not thirsty, hungry, or sleepy!"
"Alright! Let's play rope skipping!" Hou said, taking a wad of cowhide rope from his animal skin food bag and putting it around his outstretched hands.
"Your turn! Open!" Hou stretched out his hands, which were holding the leather rope, in front of Xu Que.
"Hmm!" Xu Que smiled and nodded, extending his two hands. He flipped the five fingers of each hand up, down, left, and right, skillfully moving the leather rope from Hou's hand.
"Huh?! It's so complicated! What shape is this? I've never seen it before!" Hou looked at Xu Que and scratched his head as he looked at the crisscrossing rope in his hand.
"This is an overpass! You handle it!" Xu Que placed his hands in front of Hou, waiting for Hou to unlock it!
"This is so difficult! How do I unlock this?" Hou frowned, stretched out his two hands, and rummaged around haphazardly, unlocking a shape that even he didn't recognize.
"This? What is this shape that I unlocked?" Hou raised the rope he was supporting with both hands to Xu Que's front.
"Is this supposed to be a golden bell shield? Why does it look like a bell?" Xu Que shook his head and looked at the rope shape in his hand, observing it from various angles before drawing his conclusion.
"Hahaha! I don't even know what the shape of the rope I created is called! I'm speechless! Come on, it's your turn now!" After playfully flattening himself, Hou stretched out the rope he was holding with both hands in front of Xu Que, waiting for him to unlock it.
Xu Que pulled over Hou's hand, examined it carefully, and after rummaging around for a while, said: "This is one of your feet!"
"Wow! You know what, it really does look a bit like a foot! It's quite similar!" Hou said, stretching out his hands without any clue: "How am I supposed to catch it! I'm just catching it randomly!" Hou started flipping through things haphazardly.
"What is this? This looks like something from the future," Hou said to Xu Que.
"I don't know what this is either!" Xu Que said, quickly flipping it over and waiting for Hou to take it back.
Hou yawned and gently rested his head on Xu Que's shoulder: "How about we play rock, paper, scissors? The loser gets a flick on the forehead!"
“Okay! Come on!” Xu Que stretched out his hand and clenched his fist.
"I'll play the stone!" Xu Que said before even extending his hand.
Hou Zhen thought he was going to play rock, so he beat him to it and played paper, but Xu Que played scissors instead.
"Hahaha! You lost! I'm going to flick your forehead! Stick your head out!" Xu Que stretched out a hand, his thumb pressing down on his middle finger, gathering all his strength. He even breathed on the finger he was holding in his mouth, looking fierce!
With a pout, she was helpless but true to her word. She brushed her bangs aside and held them down, then leaned closer to Xu Que, thinking to herself, "Hmph! I don't believe you dare flick me! If you hurt me, I'll never talk to you again! Never again for the rest of my life!"
"I'm going to flick it hard! Today I'm going to flick your head so hard it'll give you a big, hard headball! Come on over here!" Xu Que gritted his teeth.
"Uh! Let's forget about it! *thump*" Xu Que lightly made a symbolic tap.
This result was exactly what Hou wanted, and she was overjoyed: "Let's try again!"
