Hagang is the cave-guard vanguard of the Blackstone Tribe! The chief's ancestral bodyguard! Among the more than one hundred tribes on this primitive continent, he is known as the leader of the Four Vajras.
It was because of him that a small, backwater tribe like Blackstone, with only thirty-odd people, was not swallowed up, occupied, or plundered by other tribes.
Xu Que looked up at Hagang, whose body resembled the Hulk in his transformed state, and asked him curiously, "Can I see your strength?"
"Great! Great!" Ha Gang sniffed and uprooted a tree that was growing in the crack of a rock, as thick as a bowl.
They picked up the millstone-sized stones around the tree, swung them around, and threw them deep into the forest, causing the birds and beasts resting there to cry out and flee for their lives.
Ha Gang wanted to continue performing, but Xu Que quickly told him to stop: "That's amazing! That's amazing!"
“With Hagang protecting us all the way, plus the bear spray, we’re practically doubly insured! The weather’s so nice today, why don’t we head deeper into the forest and take a look?” Xu Que asked Hou for his opinion.
"Huh? I've never been deep into a forest before! The chief said it's very dangerous in there! I think we'd better not go!"
"Hagang, have you been inside?" Hou turned to ask Hagang.
“I’ve only been in there once! Large carnivorous beasts like leopard hounds, bull wolves, and saber-toothed tigers often roam inside! There are mind-controlling plants, man-eating trees, and man-eating bees the size of fists… If you want to go, let’s go. I’ll protect you!” Ha Gang sniffed again.
Xu Que glanced at Hou, then peered into the depths of the primeval forest before pulling his head back in: "Let's forget it! Curiosity killed the cat!"
"To tell you the truth, my main goal is to capture two saber-toothed tiger cubs, raise them to adulthood, and then tie them to the two sides of the cave to help our tribe guard our home!"
"There are only three of us today. It seems impossible for us to go deep into the primeval forest and capture a saber-toothed tiger cub!"
"If there were two more Hagangs like this, catching them deep in the forest would be much easier! I definitely need to find a way to get two someday!" Xu Que looked into the depths of the forest again, somewhat unwilling. Finally, he gritted his teeth and gave up.
"Here's my plan: I want to fence off that patch of wasteland near the entrance to our tribe's cave with wooden stakes and raise wild cattle, wild goats, wild boars, pheasants, and other animals inside! Outside the stakes, I'll clear a patch of wasteland and plant all sorts of vegetables and fruits. If anyone in the tribe wants to eat something, they can simply reach out and pick it right there, without having to travel far to gather wild produce!"
"Then, on the left side of the cave, build rows of all-wooden houses! So that everyone has their own private room, unlike the cave we live in! If someone accidentally farts, the whole cave will smell! If one person snores or grinds their teeth, it will affect everyone's sleep quality!"
“Building a house will easily avoid this awkward situation!” Xu Que squatted down, holding a twig in his hand, and explained to Hou and Ha Gang while drawing on the ground.
Ha Gang stared blankly at Xu Que, completely clueless about what Xu Que was saying! Having lived in a cave his entire life, he had never seen any of the things Xu Que was talking about before! So, it made little difference whether Xu Que told him or not!
Houbihagang is much smarter; she can understand about 70% of what Xu Que said.
"After listening to you for so long, I want to ask what a house is? How is it different from the cave we live in now?" Hou asked Xu Que curiously.
"Let me put it this way! The house is like a cave divided into individual rooms! One room for each person, or one room for multiple people, or one room for two people!"
"Wow! I love the kind of room where two people share! Let's get one together and live a peaceful life where no one bothers us at night! Wouldn't that be great?" Hou deliberately raised his eyebrows a few times, winking at Xu Que, looking quite frivolous.
"You know what? For the past few days, I've been secretly searching for a cave that can only accommodate the two of us! But unfortunately, I haven't found one that fits the criteria! The ones I've encountered either have leaky roofs or open passageways at both ends, making them uninhabitable! If we were to force ourselves to live in such a cave, we'd easily become prey for wild animals at night!"
"If there's a suitable place, I think it would be better for us to move out! It's too inconvenient to be crammed into a cave with so many people from the tribe! I wish there was a house like you described! I really like that kind of life! A life for two where we can live undisturbed!" Hou said longingly, resting his chin on his hands.
"Then hurry up and build us a house! I feel like I can't wait!" As he spoke, he got excited and climbed onto Xu Que's back, deliberately pressing down on him with his own weight.
Xu Que, his hands pressed to the ground, struggled to say, "I'm still planning it! From completion to moving in, it'll take a while! It won't be that quick!"
"Let's head back early instead of going deep into the forest! I'll cook some beef for everyone when we get back!"
"Hagang, could you carry that tree you pulled out back to the tribe? The branches on that tree are enough to make dozens of fire-making tools, which can be exchanged for several cows!" Xu Que said, then stood next to the tree that Hagang had pulled out, whose leaves were a little wilted, waiting to give Hagang a hand so he could carry it on his shoulder.
Ha Gang picked it up easily, and judging from his movements and expression, it seemed quite effortless.
The Blackrock tribe chief was chatting and laughing with the Giant Deer tribe chief about everyday matters.
The two of them quickly became very good friends.
Ha Gang carried the tree, Xu Que led Hou, and the three of them returned to the tribe together.
Xu Que opened the exchange shop and used 100 exchange coins to buy an extra-large diameter iron pot.
Xu Que took out a boning knife and drew a circle the same diameter as the waist of an iron pot on a raised natural clod of earth. He called over several tribesmen, and in no time they had hollowed out the natural clod of earth into the shape of a pot!
Xu Que called for someone to put the large iron pot on top, and it was just right!
To save manpower and time, he had Ha Gang carry a large iron pot to the flowing stream, fill it with water, and then bring it back to place on the prepared stove.
Xu Que laid the straw under the stove, piled the chopped firewood on top, and lit it with a windproof lighter. A roaring fire immediately blazed up.
Throw the chopped beef into the pot, add all sorts of natural green seasonings, cover the pot, and start cooking.
The tribe members curiously examined the large iron pot, and every now and then they would lean down and peer into the fire pit where the firewood was burning.
