Chapter 27 Water Bucket, Carrying Pole, Hot Water Bottle
As dawn broke, the entrance to the Black Stone Tribe was already crowded with primitive people who had come to fulfill their orders.
Hou held a thin stone tablet with detailed information about each order in one hand and a twig pen in the other to check the information.
Xu Que helped Hou with his work.
Chief Hua and a group of tribal primitives were counting the live cattle, sheep, pheasants, wild boars, zebras and other animals that had come from other tribes.
Hagang recently built fenced enclosures for raising wild animals, where they are categorized. Cattle are kept in one enclosure, and sheep are kept in another.
The leaders of other primitive tribes returned to their own tribes after exchanging the corresponding items from the Blackstone Tribe.
Hou breathed a long sigh of relief, finally finishing the work on these orders from the barter conference.
As usual, the tribal chief, Hua, began stewing beef in a large iron pot.
A group of children were playing house not far from the entrance of the cave.
A little girl with her hair tied in a topknot, imitating the tribal chief, dug a round stove out of the soft ground with a twig. She pulled up a lot of grass around her, pinched it into pieces with her hands, and then threw it into the earthen stove she had dug.
The little girl with the super-long braid said to her friends, "I'm the leader, and I'm cooking beef for everyone right now! Come and eat when it's done!"
Another little boy, tanned from the sun, mimicked Xu Que's every move and said in a similar tone, "Can we eat all the beef in this pot? Didn't we say we were saving it for the barter conference? We'll use this cooked meat to exchange for more good things from other tribes!"
"So who should I play?" asked the little girl with two pigtails.
The little boy playing Xu Que imitated his voice, appearance, and every move: "Then you play Hou!"
"Okay!" The little girl playing the role of Hou started holding the hand of the little boy playing the role of Xu Que and spinning around in place, "showing affection."
“Then I can only play Hagang!” a chubby and sturdy little boy volunteered.
"Perfect! You're the perfect choice to play Hagang!" said the girl playing Hua, the leader of the Blackstone tribe.
"Next, we're going to start a fire by friction! Wait a moment, I'll go steal a set of tools for us!"
This was overheard by an adult who was busy working nearby.
The adult caveman gently patted the head of the child who had just threatened to steal the fire-making tool, and warned them, "Children shouldn't play with fire, and they certainly shouldn't steal things! You have to be good children from a young age, understand?"
"Yes, my wild man uncle!" the children shouted in unison, their faces beaming with happiness.
"I am now the god Xu Que! You all must listen to me!"
"I want to play the god Xu Que! I don't want to play Ha Gang! Ha Gang is too stupid! Uncle Xu Que is handsome and smart!"
...
Xu Que discovered that every time the Black Stone Tribe cooked beef, Ha Gang would carry a large iron pot to a nearby river to fetch water, and then take the pot to the river to wash it.
This can't go on forever! What if Hagang is away from the tribe one day? This pot is so big, even twenty people couldn't lift it! Are we just going to starve for a day and wait for Hagang to come back before cooking meat? What if Hagang doesn't come back for a month? Are we going to starve for a month? Or just starve to death?
With this in mind, Xu Que decided to make about ten sets of water buckets and ten pairs of carrying poles for the Black Stone Tribe! He would also teach the primitive people how to carry water, which would make things much easier for them!
Meat was cooking in a big iron pot. Even if Ha Gang wasn't there, they could carry it into the pot with buckets, one load at a time, so they wouldn't go hungry!
Also, that latrine in the Black Stone Tribe cave absolutely needs to be renovated; the smell is just too overwhelming! Although we're all primitive people, we have water, so sanitation must be improved!
Xu Que stopped thinking about it after that, knowing that you can't get fat in one bite! The important thing right now was to make the water bucket!
He took out a logging saw from the system's warehouse and reused the wood that hadn't been used up when he built the animal enclosure fence last time.
Xu Que cut the thick log into 45-centimeter sections.
Take out a multi-functional power drill from the system warehouse, replace it with an extra-large carving drill bit, and carve out the handles of the wooden barrel along one relatively neat edge. Then, draw concentric circles on the flat wooden surface with a diameter about two centimeters smaller than the outer diameter of the tree trunk. Carefully dig out the entire concentric circle part with the multi-functional power drill.
Then, switch to a polishing drill bit and polish the wooden bucket inside and out! And that's how you make a bucket!
Xu Que used the same method to make thirty water buckets and twenty manure buckets!
Xu Que has clearly explained the difference between water buckets and manure buckets! This is to prevent some primitive people from getting confused in their daily lives: using a manure bucket to fetch water and a water bucket to fetch manure!
Hou squatted down beside Xu Que, watching him work quietly like a child.
Xu Que then took out a logging saw and skillfully sawed out twenty-five carrying poles from the remaining wood!
The carrying pole rope is woven from cowhide, and the hook for hanging the buckets is carved from wood.
Xu Que then took out a multi-functional power drill, replaced it with a medium-sized carving drill bit, and soon carved fifty wooden hooks.
After Xu Que finished doing all this, he breathed a long sigh of relief.
The roar beside him also breathed a sigh of relief.
Xu Que looked at him with a smile and roared, "Hahaha! I finished carving the wooden water carrier hook and breathed a sigh of relief, why are you breathing a sigh of relief too?"
"This makes us look more like a married couple! Do you understand, young man?" Hou said affectionately, stroking Xu Que's head.
"Fine! I'm speechless!"
"Now the water buckets, manure buckets, water carriers, manure carrying poles, and wooden hooks are all finished! All that's missing is the rope connecting the poles to the hooks!"
"Then I'll rub it for you!" Hou said, waving to a group of idle primitive women from the Black Stone Tribe.
After all the women arrived, Hou distributed a bundle of cowhide, as wide as a nine-leaf beef noodle roll, to each of the primitive women.
"Everyone, follow my example! Weave ropes! Watch how I do it, and then you follow along!" Hou held a leather rope in his hand and began to weave it step by step.
All the primitive women followed suit and learned from him.
Xu Que looked at the large iron pot used for cooking meat and thought of the boiling water inside.
In order to ensure that all members of the primitive tribe could have hot water 24 hours a day, Xu Que decided to carve several thermos bottles out of wood.
He acted immediately, taking out a logging saw and a multi-functional power drill from the system's inventory again.
Use a log saw to split a log about 50 centimeters long in half.
Using a multi-functional power drill, carve each half of the wood into the shape of a thermos flask. Finally, join the two halves together, wrap them tightly with leather strips, and repeatedly drip resin oil into the gaps to prevent leaks and create a seal! And there you have it, a wooden thermos flask!
Using this method, Xu Que made twenty in one go.
The hot water problem for the Blackstone Tribe is now solved!
