On this day, Hu Le left the prehistoric world and arrived outside the Zixiao Palace. After entering the hall, he found that the Three Pure Ones and Nuwa had already arrived and were sitting in the hall with their eyes closed, resting.
Hu Le greeted them and sat down next to the Goddess Nuwa.
Then, he turned to Tongtian Daoist beside him and asked, "Fellow Daoist, do you know what the Ancestor wants to discuss with us by summoning us here this time?"
Given Hongjun Daoist's contributions to the prehistoric world, Hu Le is now willing to call him Dao Ancestor...
Upon hearing Hu Le's question, the Tongtian Sect Leader shook his head, "This humble Taoist also does not know."
In recent days, he has been refining and comprehending those fragments of primordial spiritual treasures, just like the other saints, and has not paid much attention to the affairs of the sect.
Hu Le was not surprised to hear this. He nodded slightly and closed his eyes to calm his mind.
A while later, the two Western religious leaders and saints also arrived. After they were seated, Hongjun Daoist finally appeared on the cloud platform.
After everyone had paid their respects, Laozi asked, "I wonder what instructions you have for us, Master?"
Hongjun Daoist said calmly: "Since the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, humanity has flourished and the Xuanmen and Xiandao have prospered. However, the immortals do not think about repaying Heaven and Earth, nor do they accumulate merit. They act recklessly and wantonly, which leads to the heavens sending down killing intent, thus creating a 1,500-year-old killing spree among the immortals."
The Jade Emperor reported the day before yesterday that some of the Sage's third-generation disciples were not observing the orthodox rituals and etiquette, lacking respect for hierarchy, and trampling on the Heavenly Laws.
As he spoke, the Heavenly Dao's information about the calamity of the gods and immortals was no longer concealed and was presented to the minds of all the sages.
After silently calculating the secrets of heaven, the saints all looked at Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian Jiaozhu.
At this moment, both of them had somewhat gloomy expressions.
It turns out that this calamity mainly befell the disciples and followers of the two individuals.
In the past, the human race's Xuanyuan and Chiyou fought a great battle for supremacy. In order to help the human emperor achieve enlightenment and earn merit and fortune, the disciples of the two sects standing behind the two men stepped into the arena and launched a series of magical battles.
This resulted in the disciples of both religions having deep connections with the human race, becoming tainted by countless karmic entanglements and worldly affairs.
Furthermore, since the divine positions in the world are now in disarray and the heavenly laws are not being upheld, it is only right that carefree and unfettered immortals fill the gaps in the divine positions.
It was not that Hongjun Daoist intentionally orchestrated this outcome; rather, it was because the group of true immortals absorbed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, received the creation of heaven and earth, yet sought to transcend the material world, offering no return to heaven and earth whatsoever.
If you truly transcend the Three Realms and are not bound by the Five Elements, that would be fine, but you still end up entangled in the karma of the mortal world.
The current calamity that is unfolding in the heavens is precisely what will help them wash away their worldly defilements and settle the karmic ties between heaven and earth...
Among them, the Chan and Jie sects had the most disciples and were most deeply involved with humanity, resulting in the heaviest karmic ties between them.
Therefore, this great calamity will primarily involve the disciples of both religions...
Yuanshi Tianzun secretly resented the Jade Emperor for being so ignorant, actually complaining to his teacher and causing the disciples of the Chan Sect to suffer a bloody calamity; he was truly not a son.
At this moment, the Master of the Heavens was also quite angry with the Jade Emperor.
Of course, both of them, as saints, knew very well that the reason why their two religions were facing a calamity had little to do with the Jade Emperor, but was actually due to their own karma.
Their blame for the Jade Emperor stemmed solely from a grudge they held against him...
"May I ask, teacher, how shall this massacre be carried out?"
Lao Tzu, on behalf of all the sages, asked the question.
Hongjun Daoist replied, “The Heavenly Court has recently changed its master, and there are many vacancies in the divine positions. Many have not yet been filled, and the balance of the celestial sphere is disrupted, making it difficult to maintain its foundation. I intend to use this calamity of immortals to fill the vacancies in the Heavenly Court, dividing the celestial sphere into eight divisions according to the 365 degrees of the celestial sphere, and arranging the stars and constellations.”
Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian Jiaozhu sneered inwardly. The vacancies in the Heavenly Court's divine positions were simply due to Haotian's lack of morality. When the Taoist leader was the Heavenly Emperor, why weren't there so many vacancies in the divine positions?
Hu Le smiled without saying a word. This calamity of the immortals was an internal matter of the Xuanmen sect, and his Taoism was untouched by such calamities, so he was naturally happy to be left alone...
Hongjun Daoist continued, “These people should be divided into three categories: those with profound cultivation will attain the path of immortals, those with slightly less cultivation will attain the path of gods, and those with shallow cultivation will attain the path of humans, still subject to the cycle of reincarnation…”
This calamity will occur a hundred years later during the transition from the Shang Dynasty, when humans and immortals will mingle and face this tribulation together.
All three religions were caught in this calamity.
After saying this, he took out the Investiture of the Gods and the God-Slaying Whip, and then introduced them to the saints.
"This is the Investiture of the Gods, used to entrust true spirits. Those who are listed on the list will not be subject to reincarnation."
This is the God-Slaying Whip; it can strike all gods, but it cannot strike humans or immortals. Anyone listed on the official register can be struck by it.
Upon hearing this, all the saints glanced at the two spiritual treasures, and they all felt a sense of familiarity towards them.
These two treasures not only exude a rich aura of the Heavenly Dao, but also the aura of the Primordial Treasure Tree of Daoist Hongtai.
Unexpectedly, Hongjun Daoist used this treasure to refine two spiritual treasures as soon as he obtained it...
The Primordial Celestial Venerable hurriedly asked first, "May I ask, Master, who should wield this treasure?"
Hongjun Daoist replied, "A hundred years from now, a person who will be appointed to the Investiture of the Gods will appear and take control of these two items. At that time, whichever sect this person joins will be in charge of the Investiture of the Gods."
All three Pure Ones were his disciples, so he certainly wouldn't deliberately favor any of them; let them rely on their own opportunities to succeed...
"Taiqing, you are my eldest disciple. Before the one who conferred the title of god returns to his position, you shall temporarily take charge of this treasure."
Hongjun Daoist ordered Taishang Laojun to step forward and hand over the two spiritual treasures to him. Then, without saying another word, he gradually retreated and disappeared into the chaos.
"Respectfully bidding farewell to the Dao Ancestor."
"Respectfully seeing off the teacher."
The saints bowed and saw off the Taoist Hongjun.
Then, the saints began to discuss the matter of bestowing titles upon the gods.
Laozi spoke first, saying, "Although our sect is also in the midst of calamity, we only have one disciple, Xuandu, who cannot be listed on the Investiture of the Gods."
Of course, the disciples he referred to were those who would inherit his mantle. As for people like Donghua Daoren and Shennong, they were merely nominal disciples, and it didn't matter whether they were on the list or not.
Moreover, the main forces behind this calamity are the Chan and Jie sects, and it has little to do with other sects.
Upon hearing Laozi's words, Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian Jiaozhu were at a loss, unable to refute them. They couldn't very well send Xuandu to the list and sever their senior brother's lineage...
The Tongtian Sect Leader and the Primordial Heavenly Lord exchanged a glance, a mixture of helplessness and wariness, before both looking at Hu Le.
Hu Le laughed and said, "My disciples have just survived the great calamity of the human race, and their karma has long been severed. This great calamity of the immortals should have nothing to do with my sect."
The Tongtian Sect Leader and the Primordial Heavenly Venerable had nothing to say.
Nuwa also spoke up, saying, "Although I am a Primordial Saint, I do not govern any major sects, and this calamity is also unrelated to me."
Yuanshi Tianzun and Tongtian Jiaozhu finally looked at the two Western religious leaders and saints.
The two sage leaders would certainly not allow their disciples to be drawn into this great calamity of the Xuanmen Sect without cause. Under their watchful eyes, Daoist Zhunti unceremoniously distanced himself from it...
