Chapter 1 vs. Byodoin Phoenix

"15-0." Mifune's voice sounded.

Kamishiro Lan still maintained the same posture as before with one hand in her pocket, and even her swing of the racket looked lazy.

The Byodoin Phoenix's pupils shrank and it turned its head stiffly.

The gravel-filled ground was as fragile as tofu in front of the tennis ball, leaving a hole at least three centimeters deep.

Is this the speed and strength that a junior high school student can have?

I didn't even react.

The Byodoin Phoenix felt its hair stand on end.

Kamishiro Lan smiled warmly and spoke slowly in the gentlest tone:

"A lion will go all out to fight a rabbit, but you, as a weakling, are so arrogant. It's really hard to see. Byodoin."

Kamishiro Lan's words and nickname made Byodoin Phoenix's face extremely ugly.

He took a deep breath and subconsciously clenched the racket in his hand.

"I admit that I underestimated you, but don't be too proud of yourself!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he threw the tennis ball up, jumped high, and with amazing power bursting out from the muscles in his right hand, he hit the tennis ball towards the court where Kamishiro Lan was.

The tennis ball almost turned into an oval shape when it was hit, breaking through the wind.

This time, the speed of the tennis ball was at least 30% faster, and ordinary people couldn't even catch the ball.

"Bang." With a crisp return sound, the ball landed at the feet of Byodoin Phoenix at the same flying height.

But this time, Byodoin Phoenix, with all her strength, moved lightly and hit the tennis ball back cleanly.

"Bang." Kamishiro Lan still had one hand in his pocket and fought back again.

The tennis ball was hit into the same bottom corner, deepening the pit.

The irregular pitted surface caused the tennis ball to bounce unpredictably, passing over the cheek of the Byodoin Phoenix at a strange angle.

"30-0."

As Mifune announced the score, Byodoin Phoenix's expression became more and more serious.

The gravel and pothole-filled surface of the training ground caused unpredictable bounces on the tennis ball, which prevented him from playing to his normal strength.

However, the opponent Kamishiro Lan seemed to be completely unaffected. He was able to get into position before the landing point every time, and his counterattack posture was perfect and neat like a textbook.

Tennis hitting and serving may seem simple, but even small changes in posture can make a huge difference in the trajectory of the tennis ball.

Especially on such irregular surfaces, when the ball bounces unexpectedly, the swing posture and force will inevitably change, resulting in reduced accuracy of the return.

But this middle school student actually fought back perfectly with a cross racket.

This is simply not possible without a strong tennis foundation.

"Huff." Byodoin Phoenix took a deep breath, half-bent his knees solemnly, and stared at Kamishiro Lan.

He clenched the racket, threw the ball high up again, and hit it with all his strength, his eyes fixed on the movement of the ball.

The ball hits the ground and the gravel changes its direction.

However, Kamishiro Lan was already in position at the right angle and raised the racket.

"Bang." With a crisp return, the tennis ball fell into the same hole at a faster speed.

"Damn, he's not affected at all?" Byodoin Phoenix hit the tennis ball hard to the right half near the bottom corner, trying to weaken Kamishiro Ai's control of the ball by running left and right.

"Is this the strength of a national championship champion?" Kamishiro Ai's figure appeared at the landing point as if by teleportation, and swung the racket easily.

The same freehand posture.

Same sense of rhythm.

The tennis ball flew towards the same pit again.

"What kind of movement is that?" Byodoin Phoenix's eyes narrowed and he hit the ball back with great effort.

Since Kamishiro Lan always hits the ball to the same spot, it is not difficult to catch the ball. You just need to pay attention to the trajectory of the ball which may change at any time due to gravel.

But the proud Byodoin Phoenix would not allow herself to be played around by her opponent, so she kept using the tennis ball to make Kamishiro Ai run, trying to reduce Kamishiro Ai's control over the accuracy of her return.

With the fierce attack, defense and counterattack, the Byodoin Phoenix gradually became familiar with the land under its feet and its counterattack became more and more powerful.

However, the tennis ball that Kamishiro Ai hit back always fell into the same small pit.

This made Byodoin Phoenix a little anxious.

"Be serious!" he roared, and his anger made his counterattack more powerful than usual this time.

"It seems that you are already familiar with this place. Then I will fight back." The voice of Kamishiro Lan sounded, making the expression of Byodoin Phoenix even colder.

"The first of the ways to break through. Charge."

The moment the tennis ball was hit, it emitted a flash of white light, flashed past quickly, and fell towards the pit.

"What a fast speed!!" This caught Byodoin Phoenix, who was already familiar with the speed of the previous return, off guard and he swung his racket hastily.

The tennis ball hit the racket with a crunching sound, and the huge force made Byodoin Phoenix change color.

He roared and tried to hit the tennis ball back, but he failed to maintain his previous swing posture and hit a high lob.

"The eleventh of the broken path: lightning and thunder."

"Swish!" Byodoin Phoenix felt her eyes blurry, and then she saw the tennis ball with a blue trajectory pressed into the hole and bounced out of the court.

"Damn it!" The Byodoin Phoenix's amazing reflexes worked perfectly, and it kicked hard with its right leg, trying to catch up with the tennis ball.

However, the ball was too fast, so fast that even if he tried his best to catch up, he still couldn't touch it.

"Damn it! I must touch him! I must be able to touch him! I don't want to lose again!" Byodoin Phoenix's face was full of unwillingness. In her mind, she recalled the scene of her defeat with Oni Jujiro, and strength surged out of her body.

He leaped with all his might, stretched out his arms, and stared at the tennis ball that was so fast that it left a lightning trail, completely ignoring the fact that his body had lost balance.
