Chapter 23 Cruel Punishment
Xiyan was woken up by someone pouring a basin of cold water on her.
She felt a chill running down her body, the chill seeping through her soaked clothes and into her bones. She was startled to realize she was tied to a pillar. She struggled, and the sharp pain of the ropes tightening around her wrists and ankles made her fully realize the danger of her situation.
Xiyan slowly raised her eyes and saw the gloomy scene around her.
It turned out that she had been taken away from the Treasure Pavilion and was in a dark room.
Various torture instruments were hung around the walls, emitting a chilling atmosphere.
The Poison King Chu Jin was standing in front of her with a smile on his face. His red robe reflected the hazy candlelight, and his enchanting face made him look even more eerie.
Beside him stood several guards, all of whom glared at her with murderous intent in their eyes.
Chu Jin looked at Xiyan who was splashed with cold water in front of him. Her exquisite figure was well-proportioned, and her eyes, which originally had a bit of evil, became even deeper.
The corners of his mouth curled up in a meaningful arc, and he stretched out his big hand, clamped Xiyan's chin, and forced her to look up:
"I didn't expect that Shura Xuesha has such a charming and beautiful body!"
His voice was low and hoarse, with a hint of amusement. His eyes wandered freely over Xiyan's body and face, finally landing on her eyes.
Those were a pair of extremely moving eyes, like cold stars in the dark night, yet revealing a hint of stubborn coldness. They seemed out of place on this mediocre face, yet extremely dazzling, just like a pearl lost in the dust.
A hint of teasing flashed in Chu Jin's eyes:
"I wonder what kind of face lies beneath this human-skin mask? Perhaps it's a stunningly beautiful woman."
Xiyan was filled with disgust and turned her face away, trying to break free from the shackles of his hands.
But Chu Jin would never let go easily. Instead, he squeezed even tighter, the force in his hand almost breaking her jaw. He moved closer to Xi Yan, his voice as cold as the frost in December:
"Woman, I advise you to be more sensible and tell me who is behind this. I can spare your life. Otherwise, you will suffer today!"
Xi Yan bit her lower lip tightly and stared at Chu Jin, her eyes full of stubbornness and unyielding spirit:
"Since I dared to come here, I have no intention of leaving alive, and I will not betray anyone. I advise you to kill me today, otherwise, one day, I will definitely kill you!"
Seeing her being so stubborn, Chu Jin's eyes flashed with anger. He instantly loosened his hand and slapped her hard with a strong gust of wind.
With a crisp "pa" sound, Xiyan's cheek was hit to one side, and a trace of blood instantly flowed out from the corner of her mouth.
Chu Jin smiled coldly:
"As a warrior of death, Shura Xuesha is loyal to his master and has done his job well. It seems that you no longer fear life or death. I'm afraid that ordinary torture will have no effect on you... But?"
He stared at Xiyan's lively eyes and touched his chin:
"Women care most about their appearance. Since I can't see your true face, there's no point in having it. It's better to destroy it!"
As he spoke, he took out an exquisite bamboo tube from his sleeve. He shook the tube gently, and a slight rustling sound came from inside, as if some living thing was stirring inside.
A cruel arc appeared on the corner of Chu Jin's mouth. He brought the bamboo tube close to Xiyan and slowly opened the lid. A slender leech with a dark green body slowly poked its head out.
But I saw it twisting its slippery body like waves, with a sharp mouthpart at the front, dripping green saliva as it opened and closed, emitting a disgusting fishy smell.
"This is a green-saliva blood leech, which feeds on blood. Its mouth is full of venom. If it bites your face, it will ulcerate. Even if you are as beautiful as the moon and flowers, you will be transformed into a plain ugly woman in an instant! So, do you confess or not?"
Chu Jin's voice was neither hurried nor slow, but when Xiyan heard it, her body shuddered involuntarily.
Her eyes were fixed on the green-saliva blood leech that was so close to her. Her stomach was cramping and her heart was beating so violently that it seemed like it was going to burst through her chest.
But the stubbornness in her bones made her grit her teeth, remain silent, and there was no sign of retreat in her eyes.
"You are such a stubborn woman! It seems you won't cry until you see the coffin!"
Seeing this, Chu Jin became even more angry. With a wave of his hand, the green leeches began to snake up Xiyan's body.
The leech's body was cold and sticky. Wherever it passed, Xiyan felt her skin numbing and goose bumps instantly covered her body. She stared at the leech in horror, watching it getting closer and closer to her cheek.
No matter how stubborn she was, she was still a delicate woman. She would rather be burned to death than see this disgusting thing.
At this moment, all she wanted was to die quickly.
The leech climbed slowly but steadily, and finally climbed onto her snow-white neck.
As soon as Chu Jin gives the order, it will bite without hesitation.
"Xuesha, I'll give you one last chance. If you still don't surrender, I'll just whistle and it'll bite you right away!"
Chu Jin said viciously, his eyes full of threats.
Beads of sweat rolled down Xiyan's forehead, but she still looked at him stubbornly. Suddenly, she curled her lips slightly:
"I've committed too many sins in my life. I never thought I'd end up dying this way! I don't know if this is retribution! Do whatever you want!"
The originally mediocre face, however, sparkled with brilliance because of those slightly charming eyes.
The momentary surprise made Chu Jin lose his mind for a moment.
He thought to himself: I really don’t know what kind of peerless beauty is behind this human skin mask?
It’s a pity that you are a beautiful woman with a noble character, but you are a thief!
She stole the South China Sea Pearl and was doomed to die. Even if she was a fairy from the Moon Palace, she could not escape death.
After thinking about it, Chu Jin gritted his teeth and was about to give an order when Crown Prince Helian Feng suddenly walked in from outside:
"Wait a minute!"
