Chapter 48: First Meeting with Aunt Xia

A bony hand trembled as it came into their sight. Seeing the person on the bed struggling to pick up the teacup beside the bed, Aunt Mi immediately stepped forward, carefully helped her up, then took the teacup and placed it to her lips, saying distressedly, "Old sister, just tell me what you want!"

This was the first time Yun Qianmeng had seen Nanny Xia. She was only about fifty years old, but she looked like a woman in her seventies. She was so skinny that only bones were left on her body. Her cheekbones were prominent and her face was covered with wrinkles. There were even age spots on her cheeks. Her white hair hurt Yun Qianmeng's eyes. Who would have thought that the wet nurse of Madam Yun would become like this?

The body beneath the clothes was as fragile as glass, and the bony, dry hands tightly grasped Aunt Mi's. Aunt Xia struggled to speak, "Don't... don't..."

As soon as she opened her mouth, Yun Qianmeng noticed something was wrong. Judging from the tone and speed of Nanny Xia's speech, it was obvious that her tongue was injured. Under the quilt covering her, there was almost no bulge on half of her body. This made Yun Qianmeng's heart sink suddenly, and a cold light suddenly rose in her eyes. An uncontrollable anger seemed to burst out of her body!

The coldness on Yun Qianmeng's body finally attracted the attention of Nanny Xia. She slowly turned her head and saw a woman in a green jacket and white skirt standing at the end of the bed. However, the woman was wearing a veil, so she couldn't see her face clearly. But looking at her slender figure and dignified standing posture, she thought she must be from a famous family!

Seeing the puzzled look in Nanny Xia's eyes, and seeing Yun Qianmeng nod at her, Nanny Mi whispered in Nanny Xia's ear, "Old sister, this is Madam's daughter!"

Hearing this, Yun Qianmeng saw that the originally lifeless Nanny Xia suddenly stood up excitedly. Her lifeless eyes suddenly emitted a touch of excitement. Her hands couldn't help but reach forward, wanting to touch Yun Qianmeng, and she shouted with difficulty, "Miss...Miss...Miss..."

Yun Qianmeng felt a slight swelling in her nose and immediately took off her veil. A face resembling Qu Ruoli suddenly appeared before Nanny Xia, making Nanny Xia even more excited. She almost fell off the bed...

Yun Qianmeng quickly stepped forward and helped her up with Aunt Mi. Looking at the white frost on Aunt Xia's temples, a sob suddenly choked her throat. "Auntie, Meng'er is late!"

When Nanny Xia saw Yun Qianmeng admit her identity, she immediately grabbed her arm tightly with both hands and said with difficulty but with great determination, "This old slave... greets... the young lady!"

Yun Qianmeng nodded vigorously with tears in her eyes, then helped her sit down, took the teacup herself, and carefully fed her half a cup. Then she took out her silk handkerchief and carefully wiped the water-stained corners of her lips. Then she smiled and said, "Mammy, you can rest assured and recover from your injuries from now on! Meng'er will definitely heal you!"

Nanny Xia was flattered. She had never imagined that she would see the young lady again after more than ten years, and she had never expected her to be so considerate. This reminded her of the late Qu Ruoli, and she was suddenly overwhelmed with sadness, a tear sliding down her wrinkled eyes...

Yun Qianmeng raised her hand and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. She smiled faintly and said, "Mammy, if you have any grievances, please tell me. I will make that evil-hearted person pay the price!"

Nanny Xia was relieved to see Yun Qianmeng so strong, but she didn't respond. Instead, she groped her way inside the bed and pulled out a rosewood box from under a few quilts. She handed it to Yun Qianmeng respectfully, then gestured for her to open it with joy in her eyes...

Yun Qianmeng was puzzled, but she couldn't bear to disappoint Nanny Xia's enthusiasm, so she lightly touched the Hetian jade lock with her finger and opened the wooden box!

Suddenly, the room was filled with brilliant light, so bright that it was almost impossible to open one's eyes. Yun Qianmeng looked closely and saw that thirty South China Sea pearls the size of a baby's fist were neatly arranged in the rosewood box. Each pearl was bright and shiny, and of the same size. They were truly the best of the best!

In the center of the pearl was a night-shining pearl the size of an adult's fist. The room was dimly lit at that moment, and the night-shining pearl emitted a bright light, which turned out to be a priceless treasure!

A withered hand covered Yun Qianmeng's, and Nanny Xia cried with joy, "This... was... what Madam... left for... Young Miss... I... Today... it has finally returned to its rightful owner..."

But Yun Qianmeng showed no joy at receiving these. She calmly closed the wooden box and handed it back to Nanny Xia, saying distressedly, "Nanny, this is from your mother!"

Madam Yun must have had two thoughts back then. One was to leave the child to her own child, but if the child was killed, then she would leave the child to Madam Xia for her old age!

But Nanny Xia was so loyal to her master that she would rather live in poverty for more than ten years than use this wealth. This made Yun Qianmeng feel very moved and cherished!

But Nanny Xia was also stubborn. She stuffed the wooden box into Yun Qianmeng's arms and refused to take it no matter what!

Upon seeing this, Aunt Mi wiped the tears from her eyes and stepped forward to persuade Yun Qianmeng, "Miss, Aunt Xia is sincere, please accept her! Besides, with your care in the future, Aunt Xia will definitely not live that inhuman life anymore!"

Seeing this, Yun Qianmeng nodded and handed the wooden box to Aunt Mi. Only then did she calm down and ask Aunt Xia, "Aunt, what's wrong with your leg? How have you been able to get through these years?"

When Nanny Xia heard Yun Qianmeng asking about what happened back then, she calmed herself down, suppressed the discomfort in her heart, and slowly said, "Young lady... Madam gave birth to twins... a boy and a girl... But Su Qing... bribed the midwife... and the little boy was drowned as soon as he was born... Young lady was a girl... and she escaped... They cut off my tongue and broke my legs... Madam... asked me to pretend to be crazy and stupid... and that's how I escaped..."

Having said this, Nanny Xia was already in tears and sobbing, her whole body shaking violently with anger!

Yun Qianmeng's face was icy, and the hatred in her eyes could not be wiped away. She gently picked up Nanny Xia's thin body and comforted her softly, "Nanny, rest assured and recover! I will inflict tenfold and a hundredfold the vengeance of my mother, brother, and you on Su Qing!"

Nanny Xia's heart tightened when she heard Yun Qianmeng's words. Although she knew she shouldn't let the young lady take risks at this time, she couldn't help but avenge the mistress and the young master. She regretted that she was now like a disabled person and couldn't help. She could only whisper a reminder, "Young lady... be careful... Prime Minister..."

Upon hearing this, the air around Yun Qianmeng seemed to freeze, emitting waves of coldness...
