Chapter 8 Strange Things Happen Every Year

At this moment, Feng Qingge and her companion arrived outside the mansion. Their residence was very close to this place, just across the street.

Looking at the enormous mansion before him, Qi Quan thought that this person must hold a very high official position, and such a large mansion was certainly not something an ordinary person could own. At the very least, his status was comparable to that of the Prime Minister.

But when he arrived at the top, he looked up at the large characters on the plaque and fell silent, on the verge of tears.

This is beyond comparable; it's simply too good! This person's official rank is much higher than their Prime Minister's.

"Father-in-law, young master, we haven't come to the wrong place, have we?" He swallowed hard, his heart pounding. This, this, this is that person's residence.

But Feng Qingge didn't even turn her head and said, "What do you think?" Hehe, I have to say she really guessed correctly, and Xiao Qizi was indeed startled.

Ignoring Qi Quan's trembling fear, he stepped forward, stood before the tall, vermilion gate, and forcefully pounded on the door knocker.

"Ta-da..."

The metal door knocker banged against the door, making a jarring sound that was extremely loud in the dead of night.

Shortly after, footsteps sounded from inside the door, and then the heavy door was opened from the inside.

The newcomer was dressed in a gray robe, appeared to be in his fifties, and had a kind face, but there was a glint of shrewdness in his eyes. Judging from his attire, he was probably the steward of this mansion.

However, Feng Qingge's guess was indeed correct; this person was indeed the butler, and it was he who sent someone to invite her.

However, the gray-clad butler seemed somewhat surprised to see Feng Qingge, suggesting that he recognized her.

Sure enough, her next sentence confirmed her suspicions.

"Young Master Feng the Third?" came the voice, tinged with surprise.

Upon hearing this, Feng Qingge immediately raised an eyebrow, and a hint of wickedness appeared on her handsome features.

"Oh, please, Third Young Master." The sorcerer from the painting pavilion was supposed to come today, but after waiting for a long time, it was the Third Young Master of the Feng family who came instead. The steward seemed to understand something, but he was also a little confused. However, the affairs of the mansion were more important at the moment, so he ignored it.

The butler led the way, followed by the master and servant. They walked through the magnificent front hall and arrived at the back courtyard.

Pavilions, towers, bridges, and flowing water—even at night, this place is brightly lit.

The steward led the man to a pavilion in the garden and then withdrew without saying a word.

Qi Quan was dumbfounded, not understanding what this meant, so he turned to look at the carefree Feng Qingge and said, "Young Master, what do they mean by this?" They were the ones who invited them here, and now they're the ones who abandoned the two of them.

"Hehe, you'll find out soon enough." What else could it mean? After all, she is the Prime Minister's son. If it were an ordinary person, it wouldn't matter, but his identity is special. It seems that the steward invited that person.

It's kind of funny, really, that the Regent's residence is haunted. Heh, interesting, very interesting.

Qi Quan was completely baffled, but he didn't ask any more questions, and the two of them waited in the pavilion.

The steward hurriedly ran to a courtyard, where the lights were also on.

"Your Highness," the steward called out from outside the door.

"What is it?"

Before long, a voice as cold as ice came from inside, its cool tone passing through the heavy wooden door and reaching the butler's ears.

"The ghost hunters we invited have arrived, but something seems amiss." The butler was unsure how to put it, hence his hesitation.

The person inside paused for a moment, then asked, "Is there something wrong?" Judging from the tone, it seemed as if they didn't care much.

"The visitor is the third young master of the Feng family." The steward changed his words, but directly revealed the visitor's identity.

"Oh?" The tone rose slightly, and the person inside seemed to have become interested, no longer as indifferent as before.

Then, the sound of the door opening gradually rose, and the person inside came out.

The man was dressed in a long black robe with a dark belt around his waist. His black hair was half tied up with a black jade hairpin, while the rest of his hair fell neatly down his back, like a piece of ink-colored satin.
