Chapter 15
The people in the restaurant looked around as if they had bought a movie ticket and were watching the novel plot with great interest, rather than eating.
Fortunately, other colleagues stopped the male waiter, and the delivery guy was so frightened that he didn't even pick up the food and ran out of the restaurant in a flash.
The lobby fell silent instantly. The male waiter seemed to realize his mistake, immediately put the knife back in the kitchen, and began to work even harder.
The surrounding area resumed its usual conversations and chats. Whether they hadn't had enough fun or felt the conflict wasn't intense enough, many people even wore a hint of mockery on their faces. Of course, there were also two or three tables of people who left their seats in anger on the spot.
Jiang Wanwan's hands and feet were ice cold. Every time she watched the male waiter go in and out of the kitchen to bring out dishes, her heart felt like it was being squeezed, and she was enveloped by uncontrollable fear and dread.
Finally, she couldn't hold back anymore; tears welled up in her eyes, and she began to sob softly.
When Jiang's mother saw her daughter crying, she quickly comforted her gently and handed her a tissue.
This was nothing to her. Having lived half her life, Jiang's mother had seen her share of ups and downs, but she also knew that this might be the first time for Jiang Wanwan.
Although Jiang Wanwan has always been the pride of her husband and daughter, she has to admit that they have protected their daughter too well.
Princesses in their ivory towers must eventually grow up, recognize the dangers and wickedness of the world, and develop a strong heart.
Perhaps to encourage Jiang Wanwan to forgive and understand the other party, Jiang's mother remarked, "Young people are just impulsive. That young man probably just started working."
How could Jiang Wanwan not know the meaning behind her mother's words?
But she was also a young person, and there were many children in the restaurant. After the male waiter did such a terrible thing, he didn't even offer an explanation or apology, while the others had to endure indelible psychological trauma.
Seeing that her daughter was really aggrieved, Jiang's mother sighed helplessly, "I'll go talk to them." With that, she got up and went to the counter.
As Jiang Wanwan sat in her seat, her mood gradually calmed down, and she wanted to get up and negotiate with the store herself.
Just then, Jiang's mother returned, holding a receipt in her hand. She pressed down on Jiang Wanwan's shoulder and said, "I've already spoken to them, and they gave us a 50% discount."
Holding up her phone, which she had already paid for, Jiang's mother remained calm, as if the other party had given them a discount and the matter was over.
In her eyes, or in the eyes of most adults, a verbal apology is not as reliable as tangible benefits.
Upon seeing this, Jiang Wanwan immediately became anxious and said to her mother, "We don't need any discounts. He should apologize to everyone!"
Seeing the stares from those around them, Jiang's mother grabbed Jiang Wanwan's arm. "Alright, let's just forget about it. Look, everyone else is still enjoying their meal."
Jiang Wanwan was somewhat disappointed by her mother's behavior. She stood up abruptly and walked to the counter herself, with her mother quickly following behind.
"Your restaurant has caused such an incident, and you can't even guarantee the safety of your customers. You should make him apologize in person."
Jiang Wanwan spoke to the woman who appeared to be the manager. The male waiter, who happened to be standing nearby, looked somewhat distorted upon hearing this and remained silent.
When the female manager saw Jiang Wanwan, she raised her eyelids slightly, then glanced at Jiang's mother behind her, a mocking expression on her face, and ignored Jiang Wanwan.
Seeing the female manager's expression, Jiang Wanwan became even angrier. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
However, she also vaguely guessed that it was because Jiang's mother had agreed to the discount that the other party thought they were only bothering them for money.
"We'll return your money, as long as he apologizes in person!"
Jiang Wanwan took out her phone, ready to scan the code to pay for the other half of the meal.
However, the other party still ignored her, as if she were invisible.
Behind her, Jiang's mother also began to persuade Jiang Wanwan to leave the restaurant together.
In Jiang Wanwan's eyes, she would not easily give up on anything she had set her mind to, and she insisted on getting an explanation today.
The male waiter seemed unable to hold back any longer. He stared at Jiang Wanwan with a grim and sinister expression and threatened, "Are you leaving or not? Don't think that just because you're a woman, I won't dare to lay a hand on you."
Although Jiang Wanwan was indeed frightened just now, she now had her own beliefs to support her and she regained great courage.
"Fine, try touching me then!" She stared directly at the male waiter, her eyes showing no fear.
Seeing the tense standoff between the two, Jiang's mother was afraid that the male waiter would act impulsively again, so she quickly grabbed Jiang Wanwan's hand and tried to take her away, saying to the female manager, "They're both young, and they're both impulsive."
Jiang Wanwan frowned slightly as she watched her mother, who had come out to smooth things over, and gently pulled her hand away from the other woman's. She stared stubbornly at the male waiter, seemingly waiting for him to apologize.
The waiter, now enraged, slammed the menu on the table, pointed at Jiang Wanwan's nose, and yelled, "Don't push your luck! Believe me or not..."
However, before he could finish speaking, a rag suddenly flew through the air and hit him right in the face.
The stench of the soup instantly filled his nostrils, silencing him and making him gag.
"So you can't speak properly unless you apologize," a clear male voice rang out.
Immediately afterwards, Jiang Wanwan saw a group of young men walking over. They were dressed in hip-hop style clothes and had brightly colored hair, looking like a bunch of delinquent youths.
She shifted her gaze to the man who had spoken earlier. He had short, light blonde hair, striking features, and deep-set eyes, making him look like a mixed-race person.
At that moment, he looked at the male waiter with a smile, as if the other man were just a clown.
"What...what are you trying to do?" The male waiter looked at the group of people who were clearly not good people, and like a plucked rooster, his arrogance vanished instantly.
Seeing how easily the other person was intimidated, Kuang Ye gave a mocking smirk, picked up a pen from the table, twirled it a couple of times, and said with a playful tone, "Didn't you hear what she said? Apologize."
The pen fell to the ground with a thud, and the male waiter shrank back. "Okay, okay... I apologize, miss. I'm sorry for startling you just now. I'm very sorry."
Seeing how quickly the other person's expression changed, Jiang Wanwan sneered and said, "You should apologize to everyone in the restaurant."
The male waiter frowned, looking somewhat reluctant, but when he met Kuang Ye's dangerous gaze, he immediately nodded and bowed, saying, "Yes, yes, I'll apologize to everyone right away."
In the end, the male waiter took a megaphone, apologized to everyone in the store, and promised that this situation would never happen again.
Jiang Wanwan paid the rest of the bill. The female manager, who had been silent until now, suddenly became more polite, as if afraid that the light blond man would make her apologize as well.
After paying, Jiang Wanwan looked at the man who had helped her and said with some complicated feelings, "Thank you."
If it weren't for him, she might still be in a stalemate with the shopkeeper today. But these people looked like a bunch of dropouts who didn't study hard, which almost made Jiang Wanwan, a teacher, relapse into her professional habit.
Kuang Ye stared at the woman thanking him, blinking in surprise. He couldn't believe that just ten minutes ago she had been so frightened that she had cried.
He already knew from Pu Yuan that this woman was his sister's homeroom teacher. She had visited his home yesterday but mistook him for a bad person, while today she treated him like a good person.
Kuang Ye seemed to find it extremely amusing. He chuckled and said in a slightly teasing tone, "You're welcome, sister. You're so beautiful. Let's exchange contact information."
What?
Jiang Wanwan was stunned, almost doubting her ears. Had she been hit on?
Seeing that the other person was clearly a younger brother, Jiang Wanwan felt a little helpless. She wasn't even sure if the other person was an adult. "No need, you should focus on your studies first."
Upon hearing Jiang Wanwan say the words "study hard," Kuang Ye couldn't help but burst into laughter, and the group of boys behind him also started to joke and tease him.
"So, my sister likes top students." Kuang Ye stroked his chin, his eyes seemingly deep in thought.
When teased by a man younger than herself, Jiang Wanwan blushed and wanted to explain.
But then Jiang's mother suddenly spoke up: "We should go." With that, she forcefully grabbed Jiang Wanwan's wrist and led her out of the restaurant.
After walking outside, Jiang Wanwan noticed that her mother's pace was getting faster and faster, and she couldn't help but ask in confusion, "Mom, why are you walking so fast?"
Jiang's mother glanced at her daughter and warned, "We're never coming to this restaurant again. The people selling food here, and the people eating here, don't seem like good people!"
Especially the group of boys later on, their hair was dyed in colors that could open a dye shop, red, yellow, and even green, they were practically a bunch of street thugs.
Hearing her mother's words, Jiang Wanwan was both amused and exasperated. "Fine, fine, we'll never come again."
Having been traumatized by today's events, she never wants to come to this store again, but she is genuinely grateful to the boys who helped her.
In a society where everyone is minding their own business, it's already quite rare for someone to stand up and speak out for justice, even if the other party has ulterior motives.
No, it's not really about profit; I just wanted her contact information.
Thinking of this, Jiang Wanwan smiled and shook her head. As someone who had been asked for her contact information since childhood, she was not really bothered by this fact. However, this was the first time her younger brother had asked for it.
In the old, pedantic restaurant.
The red-haired youth looked at Kuang Ye, who was staring towards the door, and his eyes blazed with gossip. He asked in a somewhat lewd tone, "Brother Ye, you really have your eye on that girl?"
Based on Kuang Ye's past personality, he wouldn't even bother to glance at people hacking at each other in front of him.
Unexpectedly, the sun rose in the west today. Not only did he see it, but he also personally stepped in to help, staging a heroic rescue.
Kuang Ye licked his lips, ruffled the other's red hair, and sneered, "I don't want to be a teacher's goody-two-shoes."
Hongmao didn't know Jiang Wanwan's profession and thought Kuangye was subtly mocking Jiang Wanwan's earlier comment about studying hard.
"Yeah, anyone who's good enough for our Brother Ye has to be a hot babe." That woman from earlier looked like a good girl, the kind you can't shake off once you get involved with her.
Upon hearing this, Kuang Ye's eyes darkened slightly. He inexplicably thought of the curve of Jiang Wanwan's waist when she bent over outside the villa that day, and his throat suddenly felt extremely itchy.
"Give me a cigarette," he said to the red-haired man, his Adam's apple bobbing.
