Chapter 25
The morning sun is warm and not glaring, and the breakfast stalls by the roadside emit steaming white smoke, symbolizing the start of a new day.
Jiang Wanwan changed into a tight-fitting sportswear and went to a small park near her home with her father.
Although the park is not large, it has everything you need, including a beautiful grove of trees, an artificial lake, and various fitness equipment.
As soon as Jiang Wanwan stepped into the park, she saw groups of elderly people taking a stroll, and surprisingly, there were also quite a few young people.
A bustling scene unfolded before her eyes, and she felt as if she had entered another world.
The security guard at the park entrance saw Mr. Jiang and greeted him familiarly in a loud voice, "Old Mr. Jiang, you're here again—"
"You're here! I brought my daughter out for some practice today," Mr. Jiang greeted her with a smile and said warmly.
Jiang Wanwan was quite surprised by her father's attitude. In her memory, her father had always been a quiet and introverted person, and she rarely saw him so unrestrained.
As we entered the park, many people approached us, and they seemed to recognize Mr. Jiang. They greeted him casually, and Mr. Jiang responded to each of them.
"Dad, do you know all these people?"
Jiang Wanwan followed behind her father, looking at the strangers. She could only stand beside her father as a mascot, nodding and smiling.
Just as Mr. Jiang finished greeting a young man, he heard his daughter's words, smiled, and said, "I know some of them, and some I just recognize."
He comes to the park to practice for a while almost every morning, and people who see each other often naturally remember each other.
However, most of the time, he only nodded to these people and didn't even know their names, but there was a sense of mutual appreciation between them.
Jiang Wanwan was greatly surprised when she heard her father's words.
In this cold and indifferent society, she never expected that there would be such a way of communicating.
Immediately afterwards, Jiang's father led her toward the fitness equipment.
Jiang Wanwan looked at the yellow and blue public exercise equipment, her eyelids twitched, and she said somewhat embarrassedly, "Dad, there's no room left here?"
There were people using each fitness machine, but that wasn't what made Jiang Wanwan feel guilty. What made her even more uneasy was seeing how agile and skilled the elderly people were.
I saw an old man spinning continuously on the horizontal bar without even breaking a sweat, while another old woman was spinning a disc at lightning speed, as if her hands were about to smoke, and there were also pull-ups...
There are many hidden masters among ordinary people. Seeing this scene, Jiang Wanwan could only applaud and cheer.
Perhaps sensing Jiang Wanwan's thoughts, Jiang's father raised his face and chuckled, "Who said we were going here? Look over there."
Father Jiang stretched out a finger and pointed towards the grove of trees not far away.
Jiang Wanwan looked in that direction and found that it was a grove of poplar trees, and in the gaps between the tree trunks, a group of people were making strange movements with their bodies.
"What are they doing?" Jiang Wanwan asked curiously.
A bright light flashed in Jiang's father's eyes, and he spoke with a strong voice: "Practice your skills."
Practicing martial arts?
Jiang Wanwan then realized that they must be practicing martial arts, and those people must be her father's friends from the martial arts world.
"Come on! I'll take you to see your advisor."
Without saying a word, Jiang's father pulled Jiang Wanwan to an old man and said, "Master, this is my daughter."
After saying that, he turned to Jiang Wanwan and said, "Wanwan, quickly call for help."
The old man in front of me had white hair and a white face, but his cloudy eyes were as sharp as an eagle's. Standing there, he was more energetic than many young people.
Upon seeing this, Jiang Wanwan quickly stepped forward to greet him. The old man didn't put on airs at all, but chatted with Jiang Wanwan casually and freely.
"The young lady has a good physique; she's a promising talent for martial arts."
"Ah? Haha, thank you for the compliment, Master."
“I’m not being polite with you. You can practice with your dad when you have time.”
Jiang Wanwan smiled at the old man, but felt a little embarrassed inside. With her small arms and legs, it was too much of a strain for her to practice martial arts.
When Jiang's father saw that the old man had assumed his posture again, he knew that he was going to continue practicing his skills. In order not to disturb him, he took Jiang Wanwan and left the spot.
They walked further into the grove, and people around them greeted Jiang's father; they were all his fellow disciples.
Practicing martial arts requires a gradual and calm approach, so most of them practice individually and rarely gather together to practice.
Jiang's father led Jiang Wanwan to a deserted open space and hung his coat on a tree branch nearby.
"Wanwan, I'll teach you Xingyi Quan. It's very simple. Just follow along with me."
Father Jiang got into position and then looked at Jiang Wanwan beside him, signaling her to imitate him.
"Oh...oh." Jiang Wanwan finally realized what was happening and followed her father's actions.
As the sun rose higher, the temperature in the grove also increased.
After completing a set of Xingyi Quan, Jiang Wanwan's back was soaked with sweat, while her father seemed unaffected, becoming more and more energetic as he practiced.
"Dad, I'm tired. You can practice on your own," Jiang Wanwan said to her father, bending over and supporting her knees, panting.
Although the movements of this set of boxing are not fast, practicing the whole set of movements still exhausted Jiang Wanwan.
Knowing that he couldn't rush the first practice, Jiang's father didn't force his daughter. He said to Jiang Wanwan, "Then go for a walk by yourself. I'll practice for a while longer."
Jiang Wanwan felt as if she had been granted a pardon. She told her father to call her when he finished practicing, and then walked out of the grove.
There is a loop path at the outermost edge of the park, and many people run or walk around it.
Jiang Wanwan also followed local customs and started jogging.
As a result, he lost control at a bend and crashed directly into the back of the person in front of him.
"Ouch—" Jiang Wanwan cried out, her body bouncing backward.
The man in front reacted quickly, turning around instantly upon noticing the abnormality and supporting Jiang Wanwan.
"Thank you—I'm so sorry, I couldn't stop in time..."
Jiang Wanwan quickly apologized, her cheeks flushed with anxiety.
The man looked at the other person's face, seemingly surprised as well. "You're a teacher at Yanyuan No. 1 Middle School, aren't you?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Wanwan looked up in surprise and carefully examined the other person before recognizing that the person in front of her was the young policeman who had asked her the question earlier.
"Are you Officer Zhang?"
“That’s my master. My surname is Qin.”
Qin Yuanhao smiled as he corrected the woman's mistake, which made Jiang Wanwan a little embarrassed.
The two knew each other and bumped into each other in the park, so they strolled around and chatted together.
Jiang Wanwan first inquired about the outcome of the stabbing incident. After hearing Qin Yuanhao's words, she felt a deep sense of sorrow.
The injured boy's parents initially wanted to sue the student who stabbed him, but the other student's parents pleaded with them, not wanting their child's record to be tarnished.
After negotiations, the family of the student who stabbed the boy paid him 600,000 yuan in compensation, and the matter was finally settled.
The two had only met once before, so they weren't very familiar with each other and didn't have much in common to talk about.
The atmosphere became a little awkward for a moment. Qin Yuanhao wasn't an outgoing or talkative person, so it was Jiang Wanwan who broke the silence.
"Officer Qin, do you often come here to exercise?" Jiang Wanwan asked.
Qin Yuanhao stretched his shoulders and replied, "I'm fine. If I'm not on duty the day before, I'll come over the next day. What about you?"
"I came with my dad today. He's practicing his kung fu in the grove, and I'm just taking a stroll."
Unexpectedly, Qin Yuanhao's pupils contracted upon hearing this, as if he were deep in thought, and he asked sharply, "Are you Senior Brother Jiang's daughter?"
Senior Brother Jiang?
Hearing this address, Jiang Wanwan was somewhat confused. "Are you talking about my father, Jiang Linfeng?"
Qin Yuanhao was now even more certain. He raised the corners of his mouth and said with delight, "So you really are Senior Brother Jiang's daughter."
He was Master Qi's youngest disciple. Although he did not join the martial arts association, he had been practicing with Master Qi since he was a child. He and Jiang's father were from the same school, but the two were too far apart in age and were not very familiar with each other.
Jiang Wanwan was surprised to find that the two had this relationship, but at the same time, she was also a little confused.
"Don't you police officers train in things like grappling and hand-to-hand combat?"
Jiang Wanwan didn't quite understand either, because that's how it usually is in TV dramas, and she had never seen any police officer practice martial arts.
Seeing the woman's curious expression, Qin Yuanhao couldn't help but chuckle and said, "What I learned at the police academy was indeed those things, but martial arts have their own unique charm."
"What's the difference?"
Qin Yuanhao rolled his eyes, then suddenly reached out and attacked the woman's shoulder, subduing Jiang Wanwan in a second.
"Hey—" Jiang Wanwan was startled, but before she could say anything, the other person released her.
Jiang Wanwan stared at him with wide eyes. For a moment, she felt as if she were a real prisoner.
Just then, she saw the man walk towards a small rocky hill next to him. He quickly climbed to the top and then shouted down to Jiang Wanwan, "Move aside a bit, or you'll get hurt."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Wanwan immediately moved to the side.
Immediately afterwards, she saw Qin Yuanhao start running with a boost, and then jump directly down from the top of the small rocky mountain, even doing a somersault in the air during the jump.
"!"
Seeing the scene unfold like something out of a martial arts movie, Jiang Wanwan was dumbfounded and couldn't help but clap her hands.
"You're amazing!" she praised without reservation.
Qin Yuanhao smiled slightly upon hearing this, and rubbed his hands together shyly, "This is nothing, Senior Brother Jiang is much more capable than me."
He has only been practicing for a few years, while Jiang Linfeng has been practicing for at least several decades. His basic skills are incomparable.
Hearing someone say this about Jiang Linfeng, Jiang Wanwan was quite surprised. It was the first time she had ever known that her father was so skilled in martial arts.
"But if we really encounter danger, the former would be more useful, right?" Jiang Wanwan said softly.
In her opinion, martial arts might be more entertaining to watch, but when it comes to real combat, it's still lacking.
After hearing this, Qin Yuanhao raised his eyebrows, seemingly not quite agreeing. "They are different. One trains skills, while the other trains the mind."
Only by possessing a sincere heart can one master the art of invincibility. This is the secret of martial arts, and also the secret of life.
Jiang Wanwan's pupils dilated, as if she was touched by the other party's profound realm, and she felt a little ashamed of herself.
She was being too simplistic. In fact, besides her mother, she had also misunderstood Jiang's father before, feeling that he was completely useless at martial arts.
But now Qin Yuanhao's words seemed like a pebble thrown into the water, waking her up.
She suddenly understood her father, and even the frustration of her setback in the monthly exam lessened, and her mood brightened considerably.
"Thank you, I understand." She smiled at the man.
Jiang Wanwan was standing right in the sunlight. Looking at the woman's bright smile, Qin Yuanhao's eyelashes trembled, and his fingers unconsciously curled, as if he wanted to grab something to relieve his tension.
