Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Jiang Wanwan was looking down at her own shadow, using her fingers to make various animal shapes.

Suddenly, she felt a chill for no apparent reason, and goosebumps rose on her arms.

She looked up abruptly and immediately saw two drunk men at the corner of the alley. When they realized they had been discovered, they stopped hiding and ran straight towards the woman.

Jiang Wanwan was sobered up by the shock and immediately shouted for help before running into the residential area.

She patted the door of the security room, trying to wake the person inside, but the security guard happened to be in the restroom and wasn't in the security room.

Seeing that the bad guys were about to catch up, she didn't bother calling for help and ran towards her home.

The drunkards' wicked laughter drifted over, and Jiang Wanwan tried to check the location of the people behind her, but as soon as she turned her head, she bumped into someone.

"Wanwan, don't be afraid."

A familiar voice reached her ears. Jiang Wanwan rubbed her nose, looked up, and saw that it was none other than Boss Xiao.

Xiao Mingzhu immediately understood the situation. He shielded the woman behind him and stared at the two drunkards in front of him with a sinister look.

A fierce killing intent surfaced in his dark eyes, like a demon from hell, a thousand times more terrifying than the gaze of a murderer.

Upon seeing this, the two drunkards quickly stopped and stared at Xiao Mingzhu silently for a few seconds, feeling a chill run down their spines.

Intuition told them they meant no good, so he immediately chickened out, pretended to have taken the wrong turn, and quickly left the neighborhood.

Jiang Wanwan, who was behind the man, finally breathed a sigh of relief. She rubbed her tear-filled eyes and said with lingering fear, "Thank you, Xiao... But why are you still downstairs so late?"

Xiao Mingzhu's deep eyes flickered, and he turned the silver ring on his finger, which his subordinate had just brought him.

He silently turned around, handed her a tissue, and said without changing his expression, "I saw you standing under the streetlight upstairs, so I came out to meet you."

Jiang Wanwan's rented apartment was right on the street, offering a view of the surrounding area, so it wasn't surprising that Xiao Mingzhu saw her from upstairs.

Jiang Wanwan gave a soft "hmm," showing no suspicion whatsoever about the man's words.

Having been startled by the sudden incident, Jiang Wanwan just wanted to get home as soon as possible. Only after she stepped into the elevator did she suddenly remember that Kuang Ye was still outside.

She slapped her forehead and quickly sent a message to Kuang Ye, telling him that she had arrived home and that he should go home as well.

In a blind spot of the surveillance cameras at the entrance of the residential compound, two drunk men with bruised and swollen faces knelt on the ground, repeatedly begging for mercy from the man standing in front of them.

"Brother, please forgive us. We were just confused for a moment."

"Yes, brother... no! Grandpa, you're my grandpa, okay?"

Kuang Ye sneered upon hearing this, and clenched his fists, swinging them at one of the drunkards again. "Heh, I don't have a grandson as despicable as you."

Screams rang out one after another, and the broken yogurt bottle on the ground reflected a dark light, with white yogurt spilled all over the ground.

After about ten minutes, Kuang Ye seemed to get bored, kicked the broken yogurt bottle, and left with a frustrated and gloomy expression.

These yogurts were originally meant to help Jiang Wanwan sober up, but now, like him, they only deserve to rot and stink in the dark.

When he heard the woman's cries for help, he immediately ran out, only to see the woman's back as she ran into the residential area, followed by two disgusting men.

So he immediately rushed over, wanting to protect her and, incidentally, give those two drunkards a good beating.

But when he ran into the residential area, he immediately saw Jiang Wanwan rush into a man's arms, and the two looked very intimate.

Seeing this, Kuang Ye slowly stopped. He hid himself in a corner, watching the two drunkards being scared away, and then watching Jiang Wanwan and the man walk into the apartment building together.

He doesn't remember how he felt at the time, only that he felt a surge of anger with nowhere to vent, as if his blood vessels were blocked, leaving him only able to let his blood swell and burn.

Before losing his mind, he slowly shifted his gaze to the two drunkards, and his violent aura could no longer be controlled.

Kuang Ye walked alone by the roadside. Suddenly, he chuckled self-deprecatingly, sat down on the curb, and pressed his temple with one hand.

"Shouldn't I have thought of this sooner?" he murmured.

He should have guessed from the moment she went to the store to buy men's underwear that Jiang Wanwan already had a boyfriend, but he had been pretending not to know, or rather, he didn't want to admit it.

A moment later, Kuang Ye suddenly started laughing, but as he laughed, the corners of his mouth gradually drooped, leaving only a coldness.

In the public rental apartment, Jiang Wanwan didn't receive a reply from Kuang Ye for a long time, and she was a little worried.

She quickly tapped the screen a few times, typed a message, and sent it.

[Eat from a big bowl]: Have you arrived home yet?

This time, however, the other side replied quickly, with only two simple words following the white house avatar.

【ET. Kuangye】: We've arrived.

Upon receiving the reply, Jiang Wanwan finally felt relieved. She then sent the man a message saying "Get some rest," but received no further reply for a long time.

She figured the other person was probably already asleep, so she didn't think much of it and started preparing her clothes for the next morning.

In another bedroom, Xiao Mingzhu looked at the information sent by his subordinates, his eyes gradually becoming more and more interested.

"Kuang Ye is actually willing to leave the Pu family, such a powerful family? That's interesting. But I'll uproot you and the Pu family sooner or later!"

That document contained Kuang Ye's experiences from childhood to adulthood, including his relatives and friends, as well as the Pu family's business background.

One day, Xiao Mingzhu overheard Kuang Ye's name from Jiang Wanwan, which is why he stayed here. Unexpectedly, he discovered something interesting.

He had already spotted Kuang Ye hiding in the corner downstairs, but he hadn't expected him to be such a coward, hiding there without making a sound.

He was quite disappointed; he had originally thought that man's son would be something extraordinary.

Looking back now, it's just so-so.

However, he and Kuang Ye will meet again, and at that time, it will be a fight to the death.

A meaningful smile played on his lips, his eyes filled with savagery and arrogance, like a cat toying with a mouse, carrying a cruel intent to kill and destroy.

The next day, Jiang Wanwan went to work at school as usual.

Yesterday's unpleasant experience didn't leave too much of a shadow on her, thanks in large part to Boss Xiao's timely appearance.

To thank him, Jiang Wanwan tore up the receipt and decided that even if he regained his memory, she would not ask him for the money she had spent on him during this period.

Xiao Mingzhu merely raised an eyebrow at this, neither confirming nor denying.

However, Jiang Wanwan thought to herself that he certainly wouldn't object; the money was being spent on him, and he was probably overjoyed.

The sound of students reading aloud came from the classroom; today's morning reading session was for Chinese.

Jiang Wanwan entered the classroom, assigned new tasks, and asked the class representative for Chinese to lead the students in reading the text.

She walked among the desks in the classroom, and when she got to the row by the window, she found that the third to last seat was empty.

"Where's Lan Lan?" Jiang Wanwan asked the girl sitting next to her.

This seat belongs to Lan Lan. Although Lan Lan usually has a lax attitude towards studying, she has never left her seat during class or morning reading time.

The girl sitting next to me was called on, and her hand gripping her textbook tightened, her expression becoming somewhat unnatural.

"Teacher Jiang... Lanlan said she went to the toilet."

Hearing the girl's guilty tone, Jiang Wanwan frowned slightly and emphasized, "Are you sure?"

Seeing Jiang Wanwan's stern face, the girl sitting next to her immediately seemed to have given herself away and said in a panic, "She...she told me not to tell you she went to the rooftop."

What!

Jiang Wanwan was startled and immediately turned around and left the classroom, running towards the rooftop.

"Ding-dong—" The elevator stopped at the top floor.

Jiang Wanwan quickly ran out of the elevator, then climbed the stairs leading to the rooftop, calling out as she looked around, "Lan Lan—"

But apart from the howling wind, there was no sign of anyone else on the rooftop.

For safety reasons, the edge of the rooftop had long been sealed off, so Jiang Wanwan wasn't worried that the other party would encounter any danger on the rooftop.

Seeing that Lan Lan was nowhere to be seen, she sighed inwardly at her miscalculation, never expecting to be fooled by a little girl.

Lan Lan never came to the rooftop.

Where did she go? Jiang Wanwan pursed her lips and pressed her temples, which were a little sore.

"Lan Lan said she went to the toilet." These words suddenly echoed in Jiang Wanwan's mind.

She hurried down from the rooftop and returned to the floor where her class was located. As soon as she got off the elevator, she walked quickly toward the women's restroom.

Before she could even go inside, she heard a commotion from the girls outside the women's restroom.

"Let me go! Or I'll tell your homeroom teacher—"

"Haha, I'm so scared! Humph, let me tell you, my homeroom teacher is my older sister, she'll protect me no matter what I do!"

"Neuropathy……"

Jiang Wanwan's expression changed. She flung open the toilet curtain and strode forward, where she indeed saw Lan Lan and a girl.

"What are you doing!" Jiang Wanwan exclaimed in shock and anger. "Lan Lan! Let go!"

Beside the pool, Lan Lan was pressing a girl's head down into the water, which was filled with tap water.

Jiang Wanwan rushed forward, shoved aside the still-unresponsive Lan Lan, and rescued the short-haired girl from the pool.

The other person's bangs and nose were already wet, but fortunately Jiang Wanwan arrived in time, and she didn't choke on the water.

The moment the short-haired girl saw Jiang Wanwan, she immediately burst into tears, “T-Teacher, Lan Lan bullied me.”

At this moment, Lan Lan, who was standing to the side, also came to her senses. She snorted and retorted, "How did I bully you? It was clearly you who was shameless and seduced men!"

Upon hearing this, the short-haired girl cried even louder, her eyes filled with both anger and grievance.

Hearing Lan Lan's foul language, Jiang Wanwan frowned and immediately turned to her, scolding, "Lan Lan, apologize to her!"

Upon hearing this, Lan Lan's eyes widened in disbelief. "What! You want me to apologize to her?"

“That’s right!” Jiang Wanwan’s face was stern, and her eyes were full of authority and dissatisfaction as she looked at Lan Lan.

Regardless, seeing Lan Lan do such a thing to the short-haired girl had crossed her bottom line; to put it bluntly, this was school bullying.
