Chapter 144 Going up the mountain to see Rong Jin

On the day of departure, Rong Yuan and Hong Fu waited outside the city gate early in the morning.

After waiting for an hour, Rong Qi and Feng Qinghuang's carriage finally arrived.

To his surprise, Rong Qi didn't even get off the carriage or greet him; he simply instructed the driver to follow Zi's carriage.

Rong Yuan was so angry he was practically fuming. He glared at Hong Fu and complained, "Look at that brat! I waited for him for almost an hour, and he didn't even say a word to me before leaving!"

Hong Fu suppressed a laugh and quickly comforted him: "Your Majesty, perhaps the Crown Prince knew he was late and was too ashamed to see you. Please calm down. I suppose the Crown Prince didn't do it on purpose. He probably detoured to the Feng Prince's residence to pick up the young princess. Girls usually need to freshen up before going out."

Rong Yuan, still sulking when he heard Hong Fu's words, said, "Hmph, all he ever talks about is 'my little darling,' but I've never seen him so attentive to me."

Hong Fu dared not utter a sound, only inwardly complaining. "Your Majesty, you are a man. Even if Prince Rong likes you, he wouldn't be so attentive. Even if you are the Emperor, high and mighty, Prince Rong won't fall for this."

Besides, the little princess is so beautiful and lovely, the prince should naturally be more attentive to her, otherwise what if she gets kidnapped? Also, Your Majesty, you should be careful. If the prince finds out that you are talking badly about him behind his back, he might not take you to see the Ninth Prince.

Seeing that he didn't speak, Rong Yuan glared at him and said, "I'm asking you a question. What are you thinking about?"

Hong Fu quickly apologized: "Your Majesty, please forgive me. This old servant was just lost in thought. I was thinking about what to say when I see Ninth Prince!"

Rong Yuan sighed, "I don't know what to say either. Can you help me think of something?"

Hong Fu choked on his words.

Your Majesty, this was just an excuse. Besides, I really didn't know what to say. Why would you ask me to help you think of something?

"Your Majesty, I was thinking, on our first trip back, they probably won't make us clear the way, right? If they don't make the way, does that mean we don't have to say a word to Ninth Imperial Uncle?"

Rong Yuan gave him an annoyed look: "Since we're not the ones clearing the way, can't we at least say something nice to show our sincerity?"

"able."

Rong Yuan sighed: "Forget it, even if you thought about it, you probably wouldn't be able to figure it out."

"Hehehe, Your Majesty is wise."

Hong Fu really didn't want to be the first to stick his neck out. He didn't know what kind of person the Ninth Prince was now. If he were to open his mouth and offend him, he didn't know if his head would be safe.

"I've confirmed that everything I've installed these past two days is correct."

Hong Fu nodded: "Don't worry, Your Majesty, this old servant just checked it again, there are absolutely no mistakes."

Rong Yuan nodded: "Okay, you should rest for a while, or you won't be able to get up the mountain."

"Your servant obeys the decree."

The carriage traveled for another hour and a half before finally reaching the halfway point of Wuji Mountain. Since the carriage couldn't go any further, Rong Qi and the others got off and walked up the mountain.

"Ah Qi, how long will it take to get to the top of the mountain?"

Rong Qi answered as he walked, "About half an hour. If you can't get up there, you can have the guards take you up first."

Rong Yuan shook his head: "No, we can."

Seeing his insistence, Rong Qi didn't say anything more. If he really couldn't make it in the end, he would order his guards to take him away. It would be good for him to get some training; he usually stayed in the Imperial Study and hadn't moved around much.

Half an hour later, we could finally see the row of small houses on the mountaintop.

Rong Yuan was incredibly excited at that moment, and was about to stride forward when Rong Qi stopped him.

"Once you're up there, try not to make any loud noise. There are wolves in the yard, and not just one."

Upon hearing this, Rong Yuan immediately stopped in his tracks and quickly grabbed Hong Fu's hand.

Hong Fu was secretly crying inside. "Your Majesty, you're afraid, and I'm afraid too."

Rong Qi led Feng Qinghuang ahead, while Feng Qinghuang looked at the Emperor and Hong Fu behind her and shook her head.

"Aqi, are wolves really that scary?"

Rong Qi smiled and whispered in her ear, "They're ugly."

Feng Qinghuang chuckled: "Aqi is so naughty."

"Where is it broken?"

Feng Qinghuang covered her mouth and chuckled, "Aqi, you're talking badly about others."

Rong Qi shook his head: "That's the truth."

Feng Qinghuang suppressed a laugh and strode forward, humming a tune as she went.

Looking at the two cheerful people behind them, Rong Yuan and Hong Fu began to wonder if Rong Qi's words just now were meant to scare them.

However, Rong Yuan and Hong Fu were still shocked when they saw the truth.
