Chapter 19 Grandparents

After sending his beloved daughter home, Rong Qi stood outside the Phoenix Prince's mansion, facing the wind.

Not long after, Rong Qi instructed his personal guards: "Since Rong Yang wants people to pay their respects to her, then throw her into the cold palace to kneel for a few days."

After giving his instructions, Rong Qi disappeared without a trace.

He readily accepted the order and headed towards the palace.

That night, Rongyang, who was preparing to rest in Qingyang Palace, was silently knocked unconscious, tied up, and thrown into the Cold Palace, where she was made to kneel.

When Rongyang woke up and realized her predicament, she wanted to scream in terror. But she was in the cold palace, and there was no one to answer her cries for help.

When Rong Yuan received the message, he knew in his heart that it was that brat Rong Qi avenging his little darling.

Rong Yuan instructed that there was no need to worry about her; just send someone to deliver food to her every day so she wouldn't starve to death. He told her to stay in the Cold Palace and reflect on her actions.

As for Consort Qing, although she was anxious upon hearing the news, she dared not act rashly, since even the emperor had tacitly approved it.

They had no choice but to send people to keep a close eye on the situation in the Cold Palace and wait a couple of days to see how things went.

Feng Qinghuang knew nothing about these things, nor did she care.

The next day, the Fengwang Mansion was unusually lively because the Fengwang Princess's maternal family came to visit their daughter and granddaughter.

The head of the Murong family was once the imperial tutor. Although he has retired to enjoy his old age, his former glory is unmatched by any other family.

I rushed back from my hometown a few days ago because I heard that my granddaughter had finally returned from the mountains and was not leaving again, so I thought I would stay for a few more days.

I just got back to my residence in the capital today, and then I came to the Phoenix Prince's Mansion without stopping.

At this moment, two energetic elderly people were sitting in the main seats, talking to their daughter.

"Father, Mother, how could I let you go through all this trouble? It should be your daughter who goes to see you," Murong Wan said with some worry.

“Yes, Father, Mother, it should be me who brings Wan’er to visit you.” Feng Qingcang, as the son-in-law, interjected at the opportune moment.

Murong Wan's mother waved her hand: "Hey... no need, we're both in good health. Besides, you're always busy with this and that, and who knows how many days it will take. We can't wait to see Huang'er."

"Isn't that right, sir?" He then patted the Murong family head's hand.

The head of the Murong family could only nod obediently.

Murong Wan thought so too. If they were to visit the two elderly people, it would take several days if the schedule was arranged properly.

"Alright, since Father and Mother are here, let them stay at the Phoenix Prince's Mansion for a few more days before moving on to the Murong Mansion. Is everything alright with my brother and sister-in-law?"

Murong Wan was thinking about the Murong family, her brother and sister-in-law. Her parents had just returned, and she was only staying for a few days, so she needed to talk to them first.

"Don't worry, Auntie, Father and Mother are fine. They can't come today because of something, but they'll probably come tomorrow."

The speaker was a handsome man sitting to Feng Qingyun's left.

This is Murong Xuan, the son of Murong Wan's brother.

Murong Wan was overjoyed: "That's wonderful! It's been so long since our family has been together like this. Tomorrow I'll have the kitchen prepare some delicious food so we can have a good get-together. Your mother and I will have a few drinks then."

Feng Qingcang felt somewhat helpless seeing his wife so happy whenever drinking was mentioned. Although he sometimes tried to control his wife's drinking, he hadn't completely forbidden her from drinking at all.

"Alright, look at you, you lose all composure when it comes to drinking. Where's my precious granddaughter?" Old Madam Murong promptly stopped her daughter, who was still basking in her own glory.

Murong Wan: "I already sent a servant to call him, but he's probably a bit reluctant to get out of bed. I'll go myself."

Before Murong Wan could get up, she heard a sweet and lovely voice.

"Grandpa and Grandma, Huang'er is here."

As soon as the voice faded, a slender figure ran in from outside the door.

She rushed straight into the arms of the old lady in the main seat.

Old Master Murong was embraced tightly, and a smile spread across his face.

"Oh my goodness, you're such a grown-up, yet you still love to act like a child."

Although he was saying that, he was still holding the person in his arms tightly.

Feng Qinghuang rolled her big eyes and immediately said with a hint of grievance, "Grandma doesn't like Huang'er to hold her, so Huang'er will go and hold Grandpa instead. Grandpa will definitely like Huang'er to hold him."

After saying that, he pretended to back out of the old lady's arms.

The Murong family head was waiting to pick up his beloved granddaughter, but alas, his hopes were dashed.

Madam Murong pulled Feng Qinghuang into her arms.

“Who said Grandma doesn’t like it? Grandma likes it very much. You’re not allowed to go. Your grandpa isn’t well, so we won’t bother him.”

After speaking, Madam Murong gave a warning to the old man on her left.

The head of the Murong family naturally saw it and muttered to himself, "What a domineering wife."

Feng Qinghuang chuckled to herself, thinking how much her maternal grandfather doted on her paternal grandmother.

Seeing her father and mother vying for favor, Murong Wan felt helpless.

"Father, Mother, stop hugging that brat. She's not a little girl anymore. She'll just end up pressing down on you."

Madam Murong: "Who said that? Our girl is still so young. In her grandmother's eyes, she will always be a little child."

Feng Qinghuang even nodded to indicate that her grandmother was right.

Murong Wan glared at her daughter, who had no manners.

"Little Phoenix, have you seen your cousin?" Murong Xuan asked, watching the two adults and the little one being all lovey-dovey.

He came with his grandparents today, so how come this little girl only saw the two elderly people?

She didn't even glance at such a fine young man as him.

That makes sense, though. His grandparents doted on this girl the most, and even his parents adored her. After all, she was the only precious girl in the Murong family.

Feng Qinghuang nodded: "Of course I saw my cousin. Hello, Brother Xuan."

Murong Xuan inherited the Murong family's excellent genes, and his face is incredibly handsome.

But in my heart, I silently added, "Although my cousin is also good-looking, he's not as good-looking as my Aqi."

Murong Xuan: "Hello, little sister. You're getting more and more exquisite and adorable."

When Feng Qinghuang heard her cousin praise her, she looked at him with a "you're right" expression, which amused everyone in the hall.
