Chapter 3 Shopping

The next morning, before Feng Qinghuang was even fully awake, she was woken up by her mother's voice.

Murong Wan gently pushed open the door and walked straight to the bedside.

Seeing her daughter still in bed, she helplessly went over to pull her out of bed.

"My dear Huang'er, you promised your mother yesterday that you would go shopping with her today. You can't go back on your word. Look, it's almost noon and you still haven't gotten up. Your brother is getting impatient."

Feng Qinghuang hugged the blanket and said in a muffled voice, "Mother... can Huang'er sleep a little longer?"

Murong Wan sighed, "If you really aren't going, then your brother and I will leave. After we finished shopping, your brother said he was going to treat you to dinner at Mingyue Restaurant in the city. If you're not going, the two of us will go instead."

"No, you can't eat alone. I have to go. Mother, wait for me, I'll be right there." After saying that, Feng Qinghuang quickly crawled out of bed to wash up and change her clothes.

Watching her daughter's departing figure, Murong Wan knew that as long as she could offer food, there was no way to persuade Feng Qinghuang.

It has to be her; she gets the balance just right.

After changing her clothes, Feng Qinghuang took her mother's arm and walked out of the room, where she saw her brother in the courtyard.

"Huang'er, I've already drunk three pots of tea, and you're only getting up now? Look at the sky, it's almost noon!"

Feng Qinghuang's older brother, Feng Qingyun, inherited his father's sharp tongue and can't stop complaining.

"Mother, look at my brother, he's bullying me." Feng Qinghuang's voice was pitiful and she whined, which was irresistible.

Murong Wan glared at Feng Qingyun: "If you can't speak properly, then don't speak at all. You're just like your father, annoying to everyone."

When Feng Qingyun heard his mother scolding his father, he almost spat out his tea. However, he dared not show his mother any schadenfreude, otherwise he would be the one getting a beating.

Upon hearing her mother's words, Feng Qinghuang proudly raised her chin.

Feng Qingyun walked over and pinched her younger sister's slightly chubby little face.

"Let go, it hurts, Mommy, my brother is pinching my face."

Upon hearing this, Murong Wan immediately slapped Feng Qingyun's hand away: "You're a boy, and you don't know your own strength. How dare you pinch your sister's face? If your father finds out, he'll skin you alive."

"Look, Huang'er's face is all red. You little rascal, you're driving me crazy."

"Mother, it's alright, Huang'er's face will be fine in a little while, I didn't pinch too hard." Feng Qingyun loved pinching her younger sister's face; it was soft and felt great.

Murong Wan rubbed her daughter's face and glared at Feng Qingyun: "How dare you say that?"

Feng Qingyun pouted, feeling that she had no status at home. Sigh, ever since her younger sister was born, he, as her older brother, had become nothing more than a punching bag.

He couldn't resist pinching her cheeks because his little sister was so cute.

"Alright, Huang'er, let's go, brother will take you to eat something delicious."

"Alright, I forgive you." Feng Qinghuang, arm in arm with her mother, was the first to walk out of the courtyard.

Feng Qinghuang thought her older brother was silly and very funny.

He wasn't strong enough to cause pain, but she loved teasing her brother and getting their mother to scold him; that's what life should be like.

Because they weren't far apart, they didn't take a carriage; the three of them walked ahead, with the maid and servant following behind.

As soon as they arrived at the Golden Feather Pavilion, everyone inside bowed to greet the Princess Consort. Since it was not a formal occasion, they could use a simple greeting.

"Greetings, Princess Consort, Prince, and Princess."

Murong Wan gently raised her hand, signaling everyone to stand up.

"I'm just browsing around, everyone please feel free to do as you please."

Then everyone started doing their own thing.

Murong Wan took her daughter shopping and bought several sets of clothes for her daughter, son, and grandfather. She also bought some fabric so she could make a few close-fitting garments for herself when she had time.

After visiting Jin Yu Ge, we went to the jewelry store next door.

Looking at the beautiful jewelry, Feng Qinghuang also started picking and choosing, picking out a few for her mother, and buying quite a few for herself, Tinglan, and Nanxing.

Since everyone knew who they were, no one was so bored as to cause them any trouble.

After they finished shopping, the group headed towards Mingyue Tower.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, they went up to the second floor, to their private room, while the servants and maids ate on the first floor.

Feng Qingyun ordered one of all the signature dishes from Mingyue Tower. He knew his younger sister's tastes; she was picky and ate a lot.

He couldn't understand how someone with such a small frame could eat so much and still not gain weight. It was really worrying.

The whole family wanted to fatten up their little sister, but no matter how much she ate, she wouldn't gain weight. They even suspected she might be sick, but after seeing a doctor, it turned out she was just digesting very well and wasn't ill.

He couldn't help it; he was truly envious of his sister's ability to eat a lot without gaining weight.

After the dishes were served, Feng Qinghuang ate, while Murong Wan and Feng Qingyun served her food. She didn't need to reach out; she could just eat from her own bowl.

Murong Wan looked at her daughter, who usually ate half a meal, and today she was able to eat two more.

Any more than that won't do. She's not a little girl anymore; her digestive system isn't that good. She needs to be mindful of her figure.

Feng Qinghuang can eat half of a meal, while her mother and brother eat the other half.

Feng Qinghuang wasn't embarrassed at all; after all, wasting food was shameful.

Feng Qinghuang touched her round belly, her little face flushed, looking extremely cute.

After the family of three had eaten and drunk their fill, they prepared to go downstairs. As they passed the stairwell, a servant brushed past Feng Qinghuang, and Feng Qinghuang found a small note in her hand.

On the way back, when no one was paying attention, Feng Qinghuang saw the contents of the note.

Rong Qi?

What could have caused a prince to be injured like that, and with no one by his side?

It seems this capital city is not peaceful either.
