Chapter 82 A Sudden Change of Events He acted almost instinctively, suddenly…
The final result of the shareholders' meeting was a foregone conclusion.
Xiao Hong and his associates' meticulously planned and determined power grab was completely thwarted by Lin Yuwei's earth-shattering dissenting vote, shattering into nothingness!
Xin Zhou's face was ashen, his eyes sinister. He stared intently at Lin Yuwei and Gu Qingyan, his gaze as cold and dangerous as a viper's forked tongue. But he didn't say another word. He put on his sunglasses, stood up abruptly, and left without looking back!
"We won! We won!"
"President Gu! That's wonderful!"
"Mr. Lin! Thank you so much!"
The shareholders who supported Gu Qingyan excitedly surrounded her, their faces beaming with joy and excitement. They congratulated Gu Qingyan and looked at Lin Yuwei with gratitude and admiration.
Lin Yuwei walked with the jubilant crowd to Gu Qingyan's side. Looking at his pale and haggard face, yet unable to hide his excitement, and at the renewed light of hope in his eyes, their eyes met, and she unconsciously smiled gently.
However, just as the joy of victory spread and everyone relaxed their tense nerves, a sudden change occurred!
"It's all your fault, you damn bitch! You ruined my good time!" A venomous and frantic roar suddenly erupted from a corner where the crowd was dispersing and in a slightly chaotic state.
Immediately afterward, a dark shadow sliced through the air, hurtling towards Lin Yuwei, who was standing beside Gu Qingyan, at an astonishing speed! The surrounding crowd only had time to scream before watching helplessly as the dark shadow was about to strike Lin Yuwei's head.
"Watch out, Vivi—!"
In extreme terror, Gu Qingyan's pupils suddenly contracted. His body, exhausted from days of hard work, unleashed its last potential at this moment. Almost instinctively, he spun around and used his entire back and arms to tightly protect the shocked Lin Yuwei in his embrace!
"Bang—crash!" After a heart-stopping thud, came the sound of a heavy object falling to the floor.
The dark shadow rolled around a few times before stopping. Only then did everyone realize that the dark shadow was actually the square crystal ashtray on the table. The ashtray was large and heavy, with sharp edges. The sound of it falling to the ground was heavy and muffled. You could imagine how serious it would be if it hit you!
Lin Yuwei struggled to lift her head from Gu Qingyan's embrace. She saw the blood-stained ashtray on the ground and her breath almost stopped. She hurriedly stood up, reached out and cupped Gu Qingyan's face, touching her hands full of warm liquid.
Gu Qingyan's temple was covered in blood and gore, with blood trickling down from his hair. Within seconds, it stained his pale cheeks, trickling down his jawline and dripping onto the collar of his snow-white shirt, spreading out in a large, glaring crimson hue!
"Qingyan!!" Lin Yuwei screamed.
Gu Qingyan felt his vision blur and a dull, numb pain shot through his forehead. The boundless darkness surged in like a tide, instantly engulfing all his consciousness. His tall body swayed, and amidst Lin Yuwei's heart-wrenching cries, Lu Ming's furious roar, and the chaotic screams around him, he completely lost his support and collapsed forward.
"Qingyan! Qingyan, wake up!" Lin Yuwei and Lu Ming hurriedly helped Gu Qingyan up as he collapsed. She touched his bloodied cheek with trembling hands, and the warm blood covered her fingertips.
"Boom—" An unprecedented rage erupted in her heart like a volcano. She carefully laid Gu Qingyan flat on the ground, then suddenly stood up, stared at the group of people leaving the door, and strode over: "Who did this?!"
Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried a chilling edge, instantly silencing the noisy conference room. Qichen Technology's security personnel arrived and brought the situation under control.

The ambulance siren grew louder as Gu Qingyan was rushed to the nearest top-tier private hospital. The lights inside the ambulance made his pale face appear almost transparent.
Lin Yuwei held Gu Qingyan's cold right hand tightly with both hands, her gaze fixed on his bloodless face, as if he would disappear into thin air if she looked away even slightly.
"Qingyan, please... please don't let anything happen to you." Lin Yuwei's voice trembled uncontrollably: "We've come so far with such difficulty, and we've finally overcome all the obstacles. You can't just leave me like this..." The image of him collapsing before her eyes was still vivid in her mind. Blood gushed from his forehead, staining her clothes red. At that moment, the whole world collapsed before her eyes.
The ambulance arrived at the hospital, and the lights in the emergency room came on, like an insurmountable chasm that shut everyone out. Lin Yuwei stood in front of the closed door, her whole body ice-cold. She had never realized so clearly before that the man who always silently protected her had long become an indispensable part of her life, even more important than her family.
After Lu Ming finished assisting the police in taking his statement, he rushed to the hospital. In front of the emergency room, he saw Lin Yuwei standing alone with her back straight. The bloodstains on her white suit had dried into a dark brown color, like withered plum blossoms in the snow.
"Miss Lin, what did the doctor say?" Lu Ming stepped forward quickly and asked anxiously.
Lin Yuwei slowly turned around, her face still bearing traces of dried tears: "The doctor said he had a minor intracranial hemorrhage, accompanied by a concussion." Her voice was very hoarse: "He lost too much blood, and his body was already weak, so the doctor said... he might not wake up so soon." After saying that, tears rolled down her cheeks again.
Lu Ming slammed his fist on the wall, gritting his teeth: "Damn it, these despicable bastards! They can't win in a direct competition, so they resort to underhanded tactics! If anything happens to Old Gu, I'll kill them all!"
Just then, the door to the emergency room opened, and the attending physician came out, took off his mask, and said with a solemn expression: "The patient is temporarily out of danger, but he needs to rest absolutely. His body is too exhausted. This injury triggered acute stress disorder, and he may be in a coma for a period of time. You need to be mentally prepared."
This wait lasted for three whole days.
During those seventy-two hours, Lin Yuwei stayed by Gu Qingyan's side almost every step of the way. She personally wiped Gu Qingyan's body and monitored his vital signs. Every movement was extremely gentle and meticulous. In the quiet of the night, she would hold his slightly cool hand and whisper the thoughts she had never spoken aloud.
Late on the third night, Lin Yuwei called the nurse to change the IV drip. Her drowsiness had mostly dissipated. Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting dappled shadows on Gu Qingyan's face. She sat gently on the edge of the bed, her fingertips carefully tracing his handsome features.
"Qingyan, this seems to be the first time I've taken care of you like this." Her voice was exceptionally gentle in the quiet hospital room: "From childhood to adulthood, you've always been the one taking care of me. Even though you're a year younger than me, you've always protected me like an older brother..."
Lin Yuwei's tears fell silently, dripping onto their clasped hands: "This time, you got hurt because of me again... I always feel like I owe you so much, yet I still always act willfully and bully you. I told you before that I can't sleep every time I'm with you, but it's not your fault. It's because I've done so many wrong things, and I feel so guilty that I can't sleep..."
She gently pressed her face against Gu Qingyan's hand, feeling his faint pulse: "When you wake up, I will never push you away again. We will be together. I will spend the rest of my life loving you and making it up to you. Qingyan, can you please wake up?"
Uncontrollable sobs echoed in the ward.
Suddenly, Lin Yuwei felt a warm hand gently stroking the top of her head. She looked up in disbelief, her eyes blurry with tears, and met a pair of slightly open eyes.
“You’re wrong…” Gu Qingyan’s voice was weak but carried a familiar gentleness: “This isn’t the first time you’ve taken care of me.”
"Oh my god! You're awake?!" Lin Yuwei's voice trembled with excitement as she gripped his hand tightly. "Am I dreaming?"
Gu Qingyan forced a smile, a gentle expression appearing on his pale face: "Weiwei, you're the first person I see when I wake up, that's so nice." His right hand was receiving an IV drip, so he could only gently wipe away her tears with his left: "Honestly, if I could get this kind of care from you, I'd rather be hit by a few more times..."
"Don't talk nonsense!" Lin Yuwei hurriedly pressed her hand gently against his lips, tears still glistening in her eyes. "Do you know how I've spent these past three days? Every time I close my eyes, all I see is you collapsing. If something really happened to you, I would never..." She choked up and couldn't finish her sentence, only holding his hand tightly as if afraid someone would suddenly take him away.
Gu Qingyan gazed at her, his eyes filled with an overwhelming tenderness: "But Weiwei, I'm very serious. If it can save you from danger, I'm willing to do it. You're like the light in my life. From the first time I saw you, I could only see you and nothing else."
He struggled to raise his hand and gently stroked her cheek: "These past three days, it feels like I've been having a very long dream. In the dream, I kept hearing your voice and feeling your tears, but I couldn't wake up. It's really painful. How could I have made you so sad..."
Lin Yuwei burst into laughter through her tears and gently poked his forehead: "You're so good at talking. It seems this slap has finally enlightened you. Oh... I almost forgot, I need to call the doctor to come and see you now that you're awake." Gu Qingyan's sudden awakening delighted her. After talking for a while, she remembered the doctor's instructions and reached out to press the call button.
Gu Qingyan gently pulled her wrist: "Don't call out, I'm fine. I've never felt so good in my life. I really don't want anyone else to bother me. Right now, I just want to be with you."
"I just praised you for becoming more perceptive, but it seems you've become a little bit dumber." Lin Yuwei looked at him reproachfully, but her eyes were full of heartache: "I'm still here after the doctor's examination."
Gu Qingyan lowered her eyelashes in disappointment, her voice tinged with grievance: "I used to think that way too, but wanting to be alone with you is harder than climbing to heaven. I always have to compete with all sorts of people and things for your attention..."
Footsteps came from outside the corridor, probably the nurse on duty making her rounds. Lin Yuwei looked at Gu Qingyan's aggrieved expression and her heart softened. She leaned down and gently kissed his cheek: "I promise this time, it won't happen again. From now on, my heart will only have room for you."
