Chapter 24 Where’s the Money?

Chapter 24 Where’s the Money?

"Then go get it from the kitchen." An Nian was a little mad. "Although you are a concubine's daughter, you are still a concubine's daughter of a wealthy family. You can't not even give me a midnight snack, right?"

Du Huaizhi half-lay on the ground and looked at her, "You can go and try." Where she lives now, even birds don't poop when passing by. If she runs over to beg for food, she will probably be turned down. She really doesn't have the energy to waste words with them.

An Nian also thought of the reason and shrugged, "Then why don't we go out for dinner?"

Speaking of going out to eat, Du Huaizhi was obviously stunned for a moment, then silently sat up straight, stood up, and walked towards her pancake stall. It seemed that she was going to start making pancakes.

"Didn't you say you didn't want to move?"

"I suddenly thought of it again." Du Huaizhi said, his tone inexplicably sounding a little guilty.

An Nian felt something was wrong, so he stood up and walked to her side, narrowing his eyes dangerously, "Are you out of money?"

Just a moment ago he said that he was not so poor that he didn't have any money, but when the topic of going out to eat came up, he did this.

Du Huaizhi paused as he took out the rice cake and said, "Yes."

An Nian's face was full of disbelief.

"But I don't have it now." Du Huaizhi added.

An Nian: “???!!!”

"You... aren't you doing that?" An Nian was so shocked that she was incoherent, as if she had just deposited all her assets into a bank, and then turned around and told her that the bank had gone bankrupt.

"I think you're pretty good, so the price shouldn't be cheap. I don't see you making any big purchases, so where's your money?"

"Buried." Du Huaizhi was busy with the work at hand, and the two words just came out of her mouth lightly.

An Nian's eyes widened little by little. She couldn't believe her ears. "What did you say? Buried!!" She unconsciously amplified the last two words. "Buried where?"

Du Huaizhi recalled, "In the southeast, most of them are buried in Hezhou."

These words were still spoken lightly. An Nian wanted to hit her very much at this moment, but she couldn't. "Coming to a place like Beijing where every inch of land is worth a lot of money, have you ever thought about digging it out and using it?"

Du Huaizhi shook his head.

"That's all money, you can just say you don't want it?"

“It’s too troublesome to dig it out.”

An Nian really wanted to fight this kind of person who treated money like dirt. What did she mean by "too much trouble"? If it was too much trouble, she could tell him. She would go dig it. She was not afraid of trouble. "Then what about my monthly salary? I haven't even received the two taels of silver from last month."

This was the second time An Nian mentioned the word "monthly allowance". Du Huaizhi had to take it seriously and handed her the pancakes. "You want it now?"

An Nian took a bite of the pancake angrily, "Yes."

Du Huaizhi nodded thoughtfully, "Okay."

Don’t forget to eat some pancakes, fried ones are really delicious.

At night, in the largest brothel in the capital - Wangyou Pavilion.

There is a mysterious place here, located on the highest floor of the entire building, called the Night Pavilion.

The mystery of the Night Pavilion lies in the fact that only those with a predestined relationship are allowed to enter, and at most one person can enter each night.

There are rumors that anyone who has entered will have their wishes granted, regain youth, become rich overnight, have all their illnesses cured, and so on.

And tonight, a destined person happened to come.

"Sir." In the dim room, an alluring woman in red parted the beaded curtain. She wore a half-fox mask, revealing a large, plump, white complexion beneath her fiery red lips. As she took a step, her long, jade-like legs loomed in the distance.

She came to the destined person who was also wearing a fox mask, leaned on the table, and gently lifted the destined person's chin with her hand stained with kohlrabi, carrying an intoxicating fragrance.

The destined person was a man, a man who did not understand romance. He raised his hand to grab the woman's hand that was about to cause trouble, and threw it aside, "I'm here to ask for something, please don't touch me."

The woman twisted her lips in a somewhat aggrieved tone, adjusted her posture, turned over and sat on the chair opposite her destined person, "Then what do you wish to ask for, sir?"

The destined person took out a portrait, unfolded it, and pushed it in front of the woman along with a bulging bag of things. "I want this person's head."

The woman first stood up the heavy bag, opened a hole and took a look, the golden color came into her eyes, and then she looked at the portrait.

"This..." The woman tapped the bag with her finger, "This amount of money is not enough."

The destined person looked at the woman and said in a cold and hard tone, "Don't you only accept people with a destiny here?"

"Yes, I'm destined to be with you. The Yuan in Yuanbao." The woman covered her mouth and giggled. "It's mainly because things are tight lately and we're short of manpower. At this price, you really can't get what you want."

"Tight situation? Short of manpower?"

"Yes."

"Who is that person?" The destined person raised his hand and pointed behind the woman.

The woman looked back in the direction he pointed, and saw a figure in a black robe rummaging through the wall. She was stunned because this place was not open to everyone.

Seeing the black shadow revealing the black iron token on his waist, his eyes flashed with understanding. He turned around and said calmly: "That is indeed a human hand, but the price is not cheap."

"Price is not an issue, I want that one." The destined person clapped his hands, and a piece of blood jade of superb quality appeared on the table.

The woman was a connoisseur of goods and immediately agreed, "Deal."

After sending the destined person away, he came to the side of the black shadow holding the blood jade, raised his hand and bowed respectfully, "Master Protector, what do you think of this order?"

The black shadow turned around, revealing a hideous and strange face beneath the brim of her cloak. "Xi" glanced at the object in her hand. He had been searching for a long time, and the lists on the wall were all sorts of strange. In the end, he felt that the one that took the head was more appropriate, and would give more.

"Xi" took the portrait, took a quick look at it, and memorized the key information.

The woman offered the blood jade with both hands, but Xi did not take it.

"Replace this with pearls." The voice came through the mask, strange and distorted, and it was impossible to discern the emotion.

The woman nodded her head.

The next morning, An Nian was awakened by intermittent crisp knocking sounds. He opened his eyes and saw the bright sunshine outside the window.

Yawning, he walked outside. The knocking sound became more and more obvious. Looking closely, he saw Du Huaizhi sitting at the stone table in the yard, playing with something in his hand. The sound came from that thing.

When they got closer, they found that the things were large, round and plump pearls. Du Huaizhi was playing with a few of them in his hands, and there was a big bag of such pearls on the table next to him, which was bulging.

An Nian was so shocked she was speechless for a long time. Du Huaizhi had put on her outfit last night and gone out, and the next day she brought back such a huge bag of pearls. Judging from the size and color, each one was worth a fortune. An Nian suppressed the throbbing in her heart and held Du Huaizhi's hand.

"Did you rob a bank last night?"
