Chapter 26 Blue Bird
Du Huaizhi fell asleep almost as soon as she touched the bed. Du Ruzhi didn't even have the chance to talk to her.
Du Ruozhi pulled the quilt for her, staring at her profile in a daze, and gradually closed her eyes and fell asleep.
"Miss, Miss, please get up quickly. Madam is calling you over." Du Ruozhi was awakened by Xiuzhu's voice.
I don’t know how much time has passed, the sky outside has not changed much, Du Huaizhi is no longer around. Du Ruozhi rubbed her sleepy eyes and got up to put on makeup.
In the main hall, Lin sat at the head of the table, her face gloomy. Seeing Du Ruozhi enter, she waved away her attendants, leaving only her personal attendant, Liu Po, by her side.
"Kneel down!" Lin suddenly shouted.
Du Ruozhi was startled, her knees went weak and she fell to the ground, "Mother." She knew why Lin was angry. It was simply because she didn't listen and stayed away from Du Huaizhi.
Lin sneered, "What did I teach you yesterday? You are the legitimate daughter of my Du family, and she is a concubine's daughter. What benefits will it bring you by having a good relationship with her? Not only did you not listen, but today you even brought up the courtyard matter in front of your father. Do you still have me, your mother, in your heart?!"
Du Ruozhi bit her lip and said, "My daughter just thinks that my sister lives too far away..."
"Shut up!" Lin slammed the table. "I deliberately arranged for her to live in the side courtyard because I didn't want her to have too much contact with the mansion. And you refuted my suggestion with just one sentence."
Du Ruozhi's eyes were slightly red. "Why does mother dislike my sister so much? She is also my father's daughter."
"What do you know?" Lin gritted her teeth, the face of Du Huaizhi's biological mother, that woman, appeared in her mind. "She is a daughter of a concubine from the countryside. Why should she be on equal footing with you? Not to mention entering the palace this time. If the prince takes a fancy to her..."
Du Qiyue's instructions this morning are still ringing in my ears. When I think about how much he values Du Huaizhi, why he couldn't wait to come and see that concubine's daughter as soon as he came back? And when did he say so much to Du Ruzhi a few mornings ago?
After all, they have been married for many years. If you think about Du Qiyue's words carefully, you will understand that he simply wants to use one of his daughters to bet on the prince, and the candidate is Du Huaizhi.
Du Huaizhi was indeed old enough to get married, and Lin also had this idea, but she definitely did not want her to marry the prince, as that would be too easy for her.
"What do you mean, mother?" Du Ruozhi didn't know what Lin was thinking, but she vaguely felt that there was something else behind her mother's words.
Lin took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. "Silly girl, why do you think your father is suddenly so interested in this concubine?" She lowered her voice, "The Crown Prince's selection of a concubine is imminent, and your father is using her as a bargaining chip."
Du Ruozhi's pupils shrank slightly, "But...but..."
"But what?" A hint of gloom flashed in Lin's eyes. "My Lord's affairs are not as simple as you think. Just do as I say and don't worry about other things."
No matter if she is the prince's concubine or a concubine, the lowly creature born by that kind of woman cannot be allowed to get away with it.
…
After Du Ruozhi fell asleep, Du Huaizhi returned to her courtyard. He happily used the bamboo he had cut yesterday to make a recliner and took another nap on it.
This was the scene that the maid from the mansion saw when she came to deliver lunch. "This country boy is so uncouth," she muttered in a low voice, but Du Huaizhi had amazing hearing.
The maid came over and placed the food box heavily on the stone table, "Lunch is here." There was no distinction between master and servant in her tone, and she treated Du Huaizhi as someone of lower status than herself.
Du Huaizhi ignored him and kept his eyes closed, as if he was still asleep.
The maidservant spat. If she hadn't been so powerful, she wouldn't have come to this damn place to deliver food. She took out two dishes from the food box, picked up the food box and turned to leave.
Before she had taken two steps, a stone flew over and hit her ankle accurately. The maid felt a sudden sharp pain in her ankle and her body immediately lost its balance.
"Ouch!" She screamed and her butt, as big as a millstone, fell heavily to the ground. She grimaced in pain and the wooden food box in her hand was broken into pieces.
"Which bitch actually plotted against me?" She cursed loudly, stood up, patted her butt, turned around, and found that there was no one around her.
Du Huaizhi was still lying there quietly, without any sign of moving. "It really was a ghost." The maid muttered again. When she mentioned the ghost, she couldn't help trembling all over and quickly left this haunted place.
After the maid left, Du Huaizhi sat up and patted the dust off his hands, "It's time to eat, An Nian."
"Okay." A response quickly came from inside the house.
Just then, a bluebird flew over and landed on a bamboo branch within Du Huaizhi's sight. It jumped twice and used its beak to tidy up its feathers.
Du Huaizhi's gaze lingered on the bird for a few moments, his expression unchanged, and he sat down to eat.
An Nian washed her hands in the bucket by the well, then came to the table. Du Huaizhi ate a dish of fried beans and blanched cabbage with relish.
"Hey, I've never had a good life with you." An Nian said with disgust, but she still had to eat, otherwise Du Huaizhi would ask her to eat bread again.
"I'm going out for a while tonight." Du Huaizhi said suddenly.
"Going out again?" An Nian didn't pursue the matter further, noting that she didn't want to say anything. "I was thinking of going out for dinner together tonight."
"Next time." Du Huaizhi looked up at her, "If you feel bored, you can go to the street and visit a clinic for fun."
An Nian's eyes lit up, "Really?"
Du Huaizhi nodded. With that big bag of pearls, it would be no problem to open eight or ten medical clinics.
"So what are you going to do?"
Du Huaizhi took a sip of cold tea and said, "I don't need anyone to take care of me here."
It's as if she had taken care of him before, An Nian thought to herself. After thinking about it, she decided to give up. "Forget it. Running a clinic is too tiring. I'd better stay here and study medical books in seclusion. Besides, if someone comes to you, you have to deal with it, right?"
"It's up to you." Du Huaizhi didn't force it.

The top floor of Wangyou Pavilion.
When "Xi" came in, he saw a red figure lying on a couch in the room, and a green figure was absorbed in reading poetry at the tea table not far from the couch.
"I'm here." The person on the couch sat up. It was the woman who wore half a fox mask last night. She had taken off the mask, revealing a beautiful face. "Hongluan greets Guardian Xi."
Upon hearing this, Wei Shan turned around and looked over, frowning, "Why are you here? This Chief is kidding me, asking us to cooperate, isn't he afraid of a fight?"
These frank words expressed exactly what Hongluan was thinking but dared not say.
"Xi" looked at Wei Shan with a somewhat subtle look, "Where is the leader?" The blue bird message was exclusive to that pervert, and he was the only one who could order the blue bird to find Du Huaizhi's location.
