Chapter 29: Night Visit
A cold light flashed, and the next moment, Song Qianli's head slipped from his neck, blood spurted out from the bowl-sized wound, and the head rolled several times on the ground before hitting the wheel and stopping.
"The leader said he wanted to cut the body into pieces, but this is only two pieces." Wei Shan touched his chin and looked at "Xi".
As if they had reached some kind of tacit understanding, "Xi" threw the broken cloud to him.
Under the moonlight, two chefs were diligently chopping meat with their knives.
When the secret members of the Tiandihui arrived to transport the goods, they only saw ten fully loaded carriages and a pool of smelly meat at the front of the convoy.
…
In the small courtyard at the edge of the Du Mansion, Du Huaizhi returned home when the sky was just beginning to turn pale, and slept for the entire day.
An Nian thought she was seriously injured, but when he saw that her breathing was steady and her body was clean while she was sleeping, he let her continue sleeping.
When Du Huaizhi woke up, it was already dark. She rubbed the back of her neck and came out of the room. She saw An Nian lighting the lamp and grinding medicine powder.
"You finally woke up. If you didn't wake up soon, I would have gone in and stabbed you." An thought without even raising his head.
"I was too tired these past few days." Du Huaizhi answered, his voice still hoarse from just waking up. He hadn't slept well in the past few days since he came to the Du Mansion, and he chopped meat all night last night, so his body was a little exhausted.
An Nian sighed deeply, and the medicine grinder in his hand rolled over the herbs heavily. "Wouldn't it be tiring to run out and steal every day?"
Du Huaizhi didn't respond to her, but just asked, "Is there anything to eat?" She seemed to smell the fragrance of food.
"There's a bowl of food on the table, specially left for you." An Nian raised his chin towards the table next to him.
Following her pointing, he saw a bowl on the table with a plate on top. Du Huaizhi walked over and took the plate away. Underneath was a bowl full of food, meat and vegetables, still warm.
Du Huaizhi thanked him, picked up his chopsticks and started eating.
She was eating here while An Nian was talking to her over there, "Today, someone from the main courtyard sent a set of riding clothes, saying it was for you to use tomorrow. You were still sleeping at that time, so I stopped them from entering the house, left their things there, and let them go."
"The suit is on the cabinet over there. I checked it. The size is right and there's nothing wrong with it."
After An Nian finished speaking, Du Huaizhi also finished her meal. She nodded in response without saying anything.
This look made An Nian suspicious, and she couldn't help but ask, "Are you going out again tonight?"
An Nian was right, as they had to review yesterday's fight tonight, but Du Huaizhi just shook his head.
"No." He cleared the table and washed up. "I'm going to get some sleep." Halfway through, he seemed to think of something and turned back. "Would you like to go with me tomorrow?"
An Nian shook his head repeatedly. "No, I can't ride a horse or shoot an arrow. What's the point of going there?"
Du Huaizhi raised his eyebrows. "Don't you want to go to the palace to take a look? Riding a horse and shooting arrows in the stables will inevitably lead to bumps and bruises. It makes sense to take you with me."
Maybe she would even meet the imperial physician from the palace or something. In short, the more she saw the world, the more opportunities she would have. Du Huaizhi patted An Nian's shoulder and said, "Think about it carefully. I'm going to bed."
A dark shadow quietly sneaked into Du Huaizhi's room and slowly approached the bed.
Du Huaizhi noticed the black shadow as it came in, and he quietly put his hand under the pillow. When the black shadow got closer, he took out the dagger under the pillow and stabbed the man, but was grabbed by the wrist.
Du Huaizhi raised his foot and kicked out again, but the man's knee nimbly knocked him aside, and a dark shadow came close. Startled, Du Huaizhi backhanded a knife and slashed through the man's robe, and that deep, recognizable voice rang out at this moment.
"It's me."
Du Huaizhi knew who this person was, but she didn't care. The dagger pierced his arm, and warm and sticky liquid flowed from the dagger to his hand. There were not many people who could enter her room quietly and withstand her attack.
The man seemed to be unaware of the pain and pressed Du Huaizhi's hands to both sides of his body. The dagger slipped out of the wound and fell beside the bed.
Du Huaizhi struggled to get away for a moment. "This is a woman's boudoir." Only after she finished speaking did she realize what she had just said. She was trying to teach a pervert that it was wrong to visit a woman's boudoir at night.
The man's light purple eyes were enchanting and bright. He didn't say anything, but lowered his head and covered her with his thin lips precisely.
Du Huaizhi: “!!!???”
This sudden close contact made her scalp tingle and her eyes burned with rage. When he pried open her teeth, she bit his tongue hard, and the taste of blood immediately spread in her mouth.
"Pa—" A loud slap rang out, and the man's head tilted to the side. Du Huaizhi didn't give him a chance to react. He kicked him away and wiped his mouth while cursing, "You son of a bitch."
Just as he was about to stand up, his wrist was grabbed again. Du Huaizhi picked up the dagger on the bed and stabbed him, this time aiming at his neck.
The murderous intent in his eyes could be seen clearly without even turning on the lights.
The man laughed in anger. He snatched the dagger from her hand, threw it under the bed, and locked her tightly in his arms from behind. His lips rubbed against her soft neck, and he felt her tremble slightly, and the haze in his eyes dissipated a little.
"I went through so much trouble to come find you. I've stabbed you, I've beaten you, and yet you still want to kill me." He buried his head in her neck and took a deep breath, his voice hoarse, as if he were intoxicated. "How could you be so cruel?"
Du Huaizhi wanted to run away, but she couldn't beat him. When this guy got ruthless, he wouldn't even let her go. It would be hard to get rid of him. "It was dark and night-blind. I thought it was some lecher who came to visit me at night, but I didn't expect it to be the first one to come."
The tone was light and full of malice.
Even though he was scolded in a roundabout way, the man did not get angry. "Give me a kiss and I will forgive you."
"Are you crazy?!" Du Huaizhi turned her head to meet his gaze, but soon lost her composure. "Impossible." She was bitten by a dog and you wanted her to bite it back? Dream on.
"You're not as obedient as before." He lowered his head and gently bit the tender flesh on Du Huaizhi's neck. This tingling and strange feeling could not be avoided. Du Huaizhi took a deep breath and suppressed his anger, "What are you doing here, Chief?"
No one comes to the temple for no reason. This pervert is so strong in abstinence that others think he has some hidden illness. Du Huaizhi originally thought so too, until one day he was almost killed, and then he realized that he was just a picky eater.
He remained silent. Du Huaizhi thought about it carefully and realized that there seemed to be only one thing recently that could make him so upset.
"I started the fight because he damaged my cloak," Du Huaizhi explained.
"That's not why I came to you."
This time it was Du Huaizhi's turn to remain silent.
"Are you going to the racecourse tomorrow?" he asked.
Du Huaizhi was too lazy to answer this question which he knew the answer to.
