Chapter 63 Uncle, Please Hold Your Legs (60)

After Jun Li came back, Cheng Qi didn't even go to the company.

Before this, even when he was in the worst health, he still insisted on doing his job. I don’t know if it was because he knew that he didn’t have much time left, so he wanted to spend more time with Jun Li in the limited time, or let Jun Li spend more time with him.

He is too lonely. Since he doesn't want Jun Li to be sad, it would be good to let him look at her more.

The two of them did nothing but stick together all day long. When Junli was swinging on the swing in the yard, he would stand behind her and push her quietly. When Junli was swimming in the pool, he would stand by the pool and watch her lovingly as she swam in the water like a mermaid.

Sometimes Jun Li would talk about what happened in the past year. At first, Cheng Qi was very resistant to these things, but later, he gradually became silent. Until one day, he asked Jun Li: "Do you want to leave?"

His intuition told him that Jun Li had always wanted to leave him. Whether it was last year or this year, he had trapped her here out of wishful thinking. He knew that he could not keep her trapped any longer, especially when he heard her say those things. He knew that she longed for freedom, not to be tied to a dying man.

As soon as this topic started, an invisible silence fell between the two people.

Jun Li didn't know what to say. In the end, she could only say to Cheng Qi over and over again: "Uncle, I'm not going anywhere. I'll just stay with you, okay?"

Cheng Qi smiled and said, "Okay."

Whether it is true or not, at least she is still here at this moment.

Cheng Qi's condition became more and more serious. One day, Jun Li woke up in the middle of the night and saw that the bathroom light in the room was on. The bed next to her was slightly sunken, but no one was lying on it. There were suppressed coughs coming from the bathroom. At first, there were a few loud coughs, but Cheng Qi was probably afraid of disturbing her, so there was no sound later. She could guess how hard Cheng Qi was doing in there.

Jun Li lay back down silently, with her back facing the bathroom, feeling a dull pain in her chest.

The next day, Cheng Qi cooked as if nothing had happened. She wondered if there was something wrong with his taste buds, as several dishes were either bland or too salty. Looking at Cheng Qi staring at her expectantly, Jun Li nodded with a smile, "It's delicious."

As he spoke, he suddenly started coughing violently. Jun Li stared at Cheng Qi blankly. His face had become incredibly thin, with very clear facial contours, as if there was only a layer of skin besides bones. Scarlet spots appeared under his tall nose bridge; he was bleeding from the nose.

He hadn't noticed it yet, and just covered his lips and frowned, afraid that she would notice something, but the gaps between his fingers had already been stained bright red.

When Cheng Qi discovered this, he could no longer support himself. He could feel his body like a broken machine, losing even the last bit of power. His gaze stayed on Jun Li's face, and before closing his eyes, he whispered, "Jun Li, don't be afraid."

Jun Li's hands trembled and she quickly dialed 120.

She didn't know why she went to such lengths. She knew the outcome long ago, Cheng Qi was doomed to die, but she still wanted to save him, at least to let him open his eyes and see again.

After more than ten hours of rescue, Cheng Qi was finally pulled back from the brink of life and death by the doctor, but no one knew whether he would suddenly stop breathing in the next second while he was still alive at this moment.
