Even though there was some distance between them, Lu Nanchen clearly heard what Yu Ting had said. He identified her position in the bar and made a beeline towards her. The lights in the bar cast aberrant glares upon his sweater, making him appear partially bright and partially dark.
Bypassing Ning Xuan, who was seated nearby, Lu Nanchen stood in front of Yu Ting for a moment before putting the coat he’d specifically brought for her over her shoulders.
With a serious expression, he bent down and began sliding Yu Ting’s sticky, wine-soaked arm into the clean sleeve.
He moderated his strength, careful not to hurt Yu Ting while he assisted her.
Ning Xuan stepped back, stunned as she observed Lu Nanchen’s actions.
It wasn’t all that bad...
"I told you not to bother me," Yu Ting murmured, a hint of irritation in her voice. Waving her hand containing the glass of wine, a stream of the red liquid splashed out onto Lu Nanchen’s sweater.
A deep crimson arc stained his off-white sweater.
Lu Nanchen paused, then crouched before Yu Ting, lifting his head slightly to look at her.
"I’m Lu Nanchen."
"I’m here to take you home."
"Put the coat on, it’s cold outside."
In Jiang Qi City, it was almost late autumn and the temperature difference between day and night was significant. Yu Ting was still wearing the thin baseball jacket she had worn earlier in the evening, and it was now half-covered by the thick men’s coat.
With blurry eyes, Yu Ting looked at Lu Nanchen. Her checks were flushed, and it wasn’t clear if she recognized him.
"Lu Nanchen..."
Good heavens. She didn’t recognize him.
The utterance of these three syllables seemed to pacify Yu Ting somewhat. Whether she was about to fall asleep or was trying to do something else, her drunken head swung back and forth unsteadily.
When Lu Nanchen finished speaking, he stood up again, moving closer and providing a pillar of support for Yu Ting’s swaying head. He then continued to thread her other arm into the coat’s sleeve.
Ning Xuan, standing nearby, was dumbstruck.
From the looks of it, he didn’t seem to dislike her...
Yu Ting’s head rested on Lu Nanchen’s waist, and her fiery breath sprayed onto his body. Her mouth opened and closed repeatedly, repeatedly muttering his name in a slow, steady pace.
Having successfully dressed her after much effort, he observed Yu Ting in front of him. His oversized coat looked huge on her petite frame, giving her an almost childlike appearance. His brows furrowed, and the hand resting on her back tightened a bit.
There she was again.
Ning Xuan: ...
Is this what they call dislike?
Huh?
This isn’t what he told my mom...
After observing Yu Ting for a minute or two, Lu Nanchen decided not to waste more time and turned to Ning Xuan, saying, "Thanks for tonight."
Ning Xuan closed her gaping mouth and coughed twice before delivering a forceful retort. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"No need to thank me, just doing my duty, hey, I tell you something."
"Why get trapped by love? Just break up, there’s someone better ahead."
Lu Nanchen: ...
"If her husband is not good, is there any need for hesitation? Divorce him! There are so many handsome guys out there, Beibei wouldn’t even be able to decide."
Lu Nanchen: ...
"Thanks for taking care, but there won’t be any divorce." Lu Nanchen responded confidently, then bent down to lift up the still stirring Yu Ting.
This position made it easier for her to move.
As he bent down, bringing himself just a bit closer to her, Lu Nanchen heard her muttering something."
"Lu Nanchen..."
She was calling out to him.
A glimmer of improvement shone in his gloomy mood of the past few days.
"I want a divorce from you."
Lu Nanchen: ?
