The whole affair wasn’t only about Shen Ruchu plotting against Lu Nanchen, she also secretly undermined VG Entertainment.
How could this be tolerated?
Why should she yield, considering this was her first time playing a supporting role?
...
Among the four projects that VG Company had on hand - a film, two TV dramas, and a talent show - the company wanted to send a few extra people to help out.
Song Zhan had been planning this for several days, trying to make it as reasonable and reliable as possible.
It was a challenge to coordinate for Wei Qinghe in B City, who shared the team with Tang Youmin, a new talent from Southwest Entertainment. They didn’t know if any unexpected issues would arise.
Song Zhan didn’t feel comfortable with whoever he thought of sending.
Yu Ting decided to handle it herself, her plane leaving the following morning. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Ever since Shen Ruchu disclosed information about several companies, and Yu Ting paid a hefty price to get Xunxing to break Southwest Entertainment’s contract, the silent competition between the two had begun.
The entertainment industry insiders didn’t stop at indulging in stars’ personal lives - they were now focused on the companies as well.
While admiring VG’s courage, they were also thinking about how to profit from it.
Meanwhile, Yu Ting was pacing back and forth in her dorm, thinking about what to pack for the trip.
"Need to take three days off?" Lu Nanchen’s voice came from the phone on the desk, clearly more interested in this part.
"Um... I’ll start with three days. If there aren’t any unexpected events, I’ll come back earlier. If there are more things to handle, I’ll ask for a few more days off."
As Yu Ting spoke, she continued packing, rummaging through her closet.
She didn’t have many university classes, especially now that they were preparing for the sports festival.
First, she’d go and stabilize the situation at the film set, then she’d come back.
There was silence on the other end of the line for a minute or two.
"I’ll go with you. I’ll contact the other professors to reschedule their classes." Lu Nanchen, now having made up his mind to go, began packing, his deep voice reverberating in the room as he selected a few of his regularly worn autumn outfits.
He felt more at ease with her by his side.
"Ah..." Yu Ting was taken aback as she hadn’t expected Lu Nanchen to make this decision, "Alright."
She then picked up her phone from the table, sandwiched it between her neck and shoulder, "I’ll have my assistant book a ticket for you now."
"Mm."
"Make sure to bring everything, especially your pajamas, outside accommodations aren’t always clean."
"Alright."
The call continued for another half an hour. Lu Nanchen packed his things, discussing with Yu Ting what he should bring along. They arranged a time and place to meet the next morning.
The next day.
Having informed her counselor the night before, she simply said: "I have work to do for the company." She woke up at 7 am for the 10 am flight, and arrived at the dormitory building by 8 am, where Lu Nanchen was waiting.
He was wearing a black knitted vest and light-coloured trousers. A black and white striped shirt peeked out from the vest, rounded by a mid-length, knee-length windbreaker. His hand rested on the handle of his luggage, the ring on his fourth finger shone under the morning sun. Against the morning light, he seemed younger.
The wind outside was a bit strong.
It caressed his hair, making it flutter.
His gaze, which had been lost in the distance, sharpened as he spotted Yu Ting.
"You’re here."
"Mm."
She stood in front of Lu Nanchen, pulling her suitcase. She lifted her head in acknowledgement, basking in the warm sunlight. Her silhouette was glowing.
She was the precious light in his monotonous life.
"Let’s go."
