Elsewhere.
After a brief shower, Yu Zijun put on a clean bathrobe provided by the hotel. The robe revealed a small slice of his chest, with white cords tied at the waist. His wet hair was brushed back and fell behind him, with a few stray strands hanging down on his forehead. His gaze was studious.
As long as he didn’t speak about money, he was the very image of a CEO.
He nestled comfortably on the sofa, one arm serving as a pillow under his head.
Used to holding a pillow, he felt a sense of loss without having anything in his arms.
With nothing to do during the long night, Yu Zijun was laying with one hand propping his head up and the other hand scrolling through his phone, reading some entertainment news and new updates about his pet dog, Yuguai.
Ding dong.
A sudden ringtone sounded, signaling an incoming call. The display showed: Shen Ruchu.
Yu Zijun’s calm gaze turned cold.
After deliberating for a minute or two about the consequences of rejecting the call, Yu Zijun answered, his tone neutral: "Hello."
"I heard you went to Director Sun Lei today?"
"Yes."
"Then what?"
"Had dinner with them. Good people," he replied truthfully, a completely different account than what Shen Ruchu expected.
"What did I ask you to do? What’s the result? VG is still going strong. Don’t you see me as your boss? Yu Zijun, don’t get too arrogant just because you’ve stepped into the spotlight."
Shen Ruchu’s furious voice came from the other end of the call, outraged by Yu Zijun’s disobedience.
He didn’t listen at all.
Yu Zijun distanced the phone from his ear, his expression growing even more indifferent, even a bit annoyed.
"You asked me to go after VG’s artists."
"And?"
Shen Ruchu spoke so fast that Yu Zijun had no chance to answer, so he chose silence.
"You know what your situation is, your contract is about to expire, only one day left. If you want a renewal, you’d better produce results, right?"
Shen Ruchu was confident, very confident.
She was confident in Southwest Entertainment’s offers and current resources.
She was confident that her artists wouldn’t jump ship and that many more would be eager to squeeze into Southwest Entertainment.
As Shen Ruchu continued her tirade, Yu Zijun tuned her out by setting the phone to silent, restoring tranquility to the room.
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes."
After a few minutes of rote responses and not really listening to what Shen Ruchu was saying, he hung up.
Those few minutes of conversation left Yu Zijun even colder.
More threats.
He was not pleased.
...
In contrast to the gloom in room 704, room 705 was much more lively.
On a king-size bed, Lu Nanchen was propped up against the headboard. Yu Ting was sprawled on top of him, with one hand already under his nightshirt, caressing his body. Her lips were red and glossy - recently kissed.
At this moment, Lu Nanchen looked rather pitiful. He was half-sitting on the bed, a slender feminine hand resting on his waist and abdomen. Each touch sent a tingling sensation through him. His usually composed face showed a hint of desire. One hand held her waist, while the other was buried in her hair, resting on the back of her head.
His Adam’s apple moved up and down several times as he prepared to move closer.
His desire....
Ding dong.
The mood was abruptly shattered by the intrusive ring of the doorbell.
"Is Yu Ting here? Have you gone to bed? I want to discuss the contract."
