Chapter 171 - 170: "But I love you more." _1

Yu Ting had been standing for about ten minutes. Her calves led a little chilly as the cold wind kept creeping under her clothes. Her face exposed to the elements, also felt cold, and her cheeks reddened from the wind.

She had no idea what sudden errand Nanchen had rushed off to.

The shrill screams of young girls yanked Yu Ting back from her daydream, and she looked straight ahead.

Nanchen reappeared in her field of vision, his hands holding a large bouquet of lovely roses—more than the one bought by the young man who studied civil engineering earlier.

He strode towards her determinedly, each step bigger than the last, in a hurry.

Seeing this, Yu Ting’s eyes widened in surprise, and she gazed at him, stupefied.

"Is that a bouquet of roses Mr. Lu is holding? There are so many."

"Did he go to buy flowers just now?"

Nanchen walked quickly to Yu Ting and stopped in front of her. The 199 roses he held in his arms, their bright red color making his skin appear even paler. He seemed a bit out of breath since he had rushed to buy the flowers and then hurried back.

He handed the roses to Yu Ting, his voice still the same, "I’m late."

"This is for you."

If others have gifted her something, he felt that he should too.

"Did you specifically go to buy this for me?" Taking over the flowers, Yu Ting felt warmth creeping through her heart and a smile appearing on her face.

"Yes." Nanchen answered truthfully while stood in front of Yu Ting. His gaze traveled from her wind-reddened face to her hands. He furrowed his brows slightly, belatedly realizing that he’d left her standing in the cold wind for more than ten minutes. A pang of guilt shot through him.

He should have taken her with him.

The tall man gazed at her intently, swiftly enclosing Yu Ting’s hands with his own. He lowered his upper body slightly, his breath warm against her skin from time to time, his hot palms transmitting warmth to Yu Ting.

"Oh my God, so Mr. Lu left Yu Ting behind to go buy her flowers?"

"Damn, look at Mr. Lu’s actions, he obviously treasures her."

As the whispers continued around them, Yu Ting looked affectionately at the man in front of her, her heart filled with joy.

Pure white snowflakes began to fall from the sky, scattering upon the ground in various shapes and sizes.

It was snowing.

The snowflakes avoided Nanchen’s serious expression, instead landing on his shoulder and his soft hair, accumulating a few flakes.

Yu Ting’s attention was momentarily attracted by the snow, but then she took Nanchen’s hand, smiling as she suggested, "Let’s hurry up and leave; it’s snowing."

"Okay." Yu Ting’s sudden withdrawal of her hand took Nanchen by surprise, but he agreed and walked away with his hand in Yu Ting’s.

As the snow fell, the wind kept blowing.

The cold wind that hit their bodies was chilling to the bone, but at the place where their hands were intertwined, Nanchen’s hand was in front, and Yu Ting’s hand was held behind his. The wind struck only the back of Nanchen’s hand. The man’s expression did not change, and his grip remained firm.

Yu Ting held the roses in her other arm, flakes of snow clinging to her clothes. Her face wore a delighted smile.

She was happy.

"What made you think of buying roses for me?" she asked, alluding to the ostentatious nature of roses.

While they walked, Yu Ting voiced her curiosity. She believed that someone as pragmatic as Nanchen wouldn’t spend money on something like that.

It can’t be eaten and has no practical use—it’s purely for decoration.

"He likes you, so he bought you 99 roses."

Nanchen answered, his grip still tight.

He certainly considered roses to be ostentatious too.

"But I love you more."

Nanchen, now 26, gifted a girl for the first time. And the gift, unexpectedly, was an impractical bouquet of roses.

Each stem cost 45 Yuan, and he had purchased 199 of them.
