Chapter 210 - 209: Wei Qinghe Visits His Mother at the Hospital_1

...

Elsewhere.

Several days had passed since the snow stopped, and slowly the city was returning to its original state.

The bustling traffic was resuming outside, many businesses had reopened after a few days of closure, and many people were still hustling for the year-end rush.

The Second People’s Hospital.

As the year-end approached, the number of hospital visitors decreased. The predominating smells were those of disinfectant and other unidentifiable medicinal fluids. Along the way to the hospital, one could see many people struggling with their rehabilitation exercises.

A man rushed to the sixth floor of the inpatient department, finally locating room 613 amidst the overwhelming smell of disinfectant.

The room where his mother was staying.

When he entered the room, a nurse was moistening a woman’s parched mouth with a cotton swab.

He had received a signing bonus of 60 million, plus a year-end bonus of 200,000.

Not only did Wei Qinghe manage to pay off his debts, but he also hired an extra caregiver for his mother.

The woman lying on the bed looked deathly pale. She had been in her blue and white striped hospital gown for several months now. Her once plump face was now frighteningly thin due to prolonged medication and difficulty eating.

Just the sight of her was heart-breaking, and it was even harder to bear seeing so many tubes and needles attached to her.

The more happiness there had been in the past, the more suffering there was now.

Wei Qinghe’s heart ached at the sight of his mother’s condition. He sat down beside her and watched as she choked back tears.

His mother was about to have surgery again and the doctors, fearing she might not endure it, had called him in.

Wei Qinghe took a towel from the side and gently wiped Wei Wan’s hands and face, and began talking in the usual tenderness.

"Mom, I was criticized for my stiff smile in my first film."

"I wonder if I’m not cut out to be an actor."

...

"But don’t worry, I’m living better than before."

...

"Mom, I met a girl recently."

"She’s helped me a lot."

"But she’s so brilliant, and she’s married."

...

"Why couldn’t I have met her earlier."

...

"Mom, I discovered recently that your favorite noodle shop has shut down, what a pity."

"I wish I could take you there one more time."

"Mom, wake up, let me take you to have some good food, I’ve bought you lots of beautiful clothes... I can afford to look after you now"

...

"Mom, I miss you."

...

"All right, is this the patient?"

As Wei Qinghe finished speaking, he kept his eyes on Wei Wan. A female nurse’s voice came from outside, and then several people came in. The leading doctor rushed to Wei Wan’s side, checked her vitals using his equipment, and after ensuring no major issues, he and a few nurses wheeled her into the operating room.

Wei Qinghe watched as his mother was taken away.

Quickly, he followed behind.

Wei Wan was wheeled all the way to the operating room.

The sound of the four wheels rolling reverberated on the cold porcelain tile floor.

Wei Qinghe followed the whole way.

He was left in the outside corridor, separated by a door with a red sign reading ’In Surgery.’

Overwhelmed with bitterness, Wei Qinghe sat on an iron chair in the corridor, his hands resting on his knees, head drooping, anxiously waiting for news.

What goes around comes around... When will it be my turn?
