As the year-end approached, the number of hospital visitors decreased. The predominating smells were those of disinfectant and other unidentifiable medicinal fluids. Along the way to the hospital, one could see many people struggling with their rehabilitation exercises.
A man rushed to the sixth floor of the inpatient department, finally locating room 613 amidst the overwhelming smell of disinfectant.

When he entered the room, a nurse was moistening a woman’s parched mouth with a cotton swab.
He had received a signing bonus of 60 million, plus a year-end bonus of 200,000.
Not only did Wei Qinghe manage to pay off his debts, but he also hired an extra caregiver for his mother.
The woman lying on the bed looked deathly pale. She had been in her blue and white striped hospital gown for several months now. Her once plump face was now frighteningly thin due to prolonged medication and difficulty eating.

Overwhelmed with bitterness, Wei Qinghe sat on an iron chair in the corridor, his hands resting on his knees, head drooping, anxiously waiting for news.
