It wasn’t until Yu Ting finished making the payment and Lu Nanchen picked up the items that they left together.
Shen Ruchu was in a state of utter shock and breakdown, silently sitting in her seat, lost in thought.
"Ms. Shen, everyone is leaving, and you’re still here..."
"Since when do I need your permission to do my job?!" Shen Ruchu snapped back immediately, glaring with rage.
The entire evening had left her steaming with anger.
At this point, Shen Ruchu had thought of every dirty trick in the book.
"No need." The male assistant who had accompanied her stammered immediately. He had nowhere to vent his frustration, "It’s just that Young Master Shen called a while ago, saying he’s already at the nearby restaurant."
Hearing this, Shen Ruchu’s expression softened. She snorted and got up to leave, "He’s so much later than the agreed time. Really..."
She muttered under her breath and proceeded forward. The assistant followed her, holding two broken paintings in his hands.
The only gains of tonight.
When Shen Ruchu arrived at the restaurant where she had previously arranged to meet Shen Sheng, she had the assistant pass the paintings to him.
"I have some business in the company, so I might return home a day or two later than last year for New Year."
Shen Ruchu spoke formally. Her facial expression showed that she was still angry.
Shen Sheng took a quick look at the paintings and was surprised, "Why did you buy ink paintings? Grandpa doesn’t even like them."
"Then burn them!" Shen Ruchu lost control and spoke a bit louder than she intended.
The sight of the painting infuriated her.
It was a constant reminder that she was once again played by Yu Ting.
"What’s wrong with you all of a sudden?" The sudden outcry startled Shen Sheng, and as he grew older, he felt that he understood her less and less.
Shen Ruchu quickly vented out her frustration to Shen Sheng, seeing him as a sounding board.
"It’s ridiculous. With her education and background, there’s no way she could understand that manuscript, but she had to spend money to antagonize me. What an idiot."
"I can’t even understand the audacity she has with her background to challenge me."
Shen Ruchu was genuinely bewildered.
And then there was Lu Nanchen, who was clearly smitten by her.
What’s so great about a naive girl?
But that wasn’t all. Shen Ruchu’s grievances didn’t stop there. She had a lot to say about Yu Ting’s poor background.
Hearing all this, Shen Sheng sighed heavily and massaged his temples, voicing his opinion.
"I believe a person’s birth cannot represent everything. It only shows that they might have a lower starting point, but it doesn’t mean they will definitely be inferior in the future."
Hearing Shen Sheng disagreeing with her, Shen Ruchu was even more infuriated. The fire within her blazed fiercely.
"What kind of muddled thinking is that? If someone is born into a poor family, how can they have a good future? She simply doesn’t have the resources or economic conditions."
"That’s not necessarily the case. One can strive and improve gradually. Even our great-grandfather started from scratch, and it’s the efforts of generations that led to the prosperity of the Shen Family." Shen Sheng retorted weakly. He always felt that his sister was too narrow-minded, and her recent outbursts made him worried.
It was getting worse.
In the past, he had tried to hold his tongue. But it seemed that if he didn’t make things clear with her today, a disaster would be inevitable in the future.
"What rubbish you’re talking about. It looks like you’ve been hoodwinked recently too."
