The hair that fell just beyond her shoulders lit up a bit under the natural light, appearing golden. She looked even more mature and charming now.
Yu Ting was walking towards the elevator from the company’s main gate.
Wei Qinghe stood nearby, watching her intently.
His gaze was too obvious, too direct.
It caused Yu Ting to suddenly stop in her tracks. She glanced at Wei Qinghe, who had just returned from a TV show, and asked, "Why are you staring at me? Is the show done?"
A simple greeting.
"Hmm, it finished a few days ago. I had dinner with the director and the crew last night before rushing back," Wei Qinghe replied. Unconsciously, he began to report to Yu Ting. He was much better than when they met in the rental apartment, chatting confidently like a grown boy.
"The director even praised me at the end," Wei Qinghe concluded, looking a bit pleased.
"Well, the company hasn’t assigned you any work recently. You can take a good rest," Yu Ting said succinctly. She seemed ready to leave.
"No need, no need," the young man refused quickly. "It’s no problem if I get more job offers. I’m not tired."
In response to his attitude, Yu Ting paused, understanding Wei Qinghe’s stance. After some thought, she made a noncommittal sound.
Then, she contemplated whether to chat a bit longer, to kill time and avoid staying in the office.
It’d be best if she bumped into an employee and asked them about their satisfaction with their current salary, or if they felt the work hours were too long, or if they had any suggestions or prospects for the company’s future development. It would be great if someone could list dozens of points for her to listen to.
Then, she could respond to each point one by one.
"Hahaha, this work ethic is commendable. The show must’ve been tiring. Go take a break. You need a healthy body to be able to work well," Song Zhan cut in, approaching from behind and nudging Yu Ting to leave.
After echoing a few of his words, Yu Ting started heading upstairs.
When she arrived at her office on the top floor, there was a hefty stack of files waiting on her desk.
Familiar surroundings, familiar thickness.
Yu Ting sat down at her desk and began working in earnest, flipping through the files one by one. After confirming that each one was correct, she signed her name at the bottom with a flourish. It went smoothly.
In the quiet office, the only sound was that of Yu Ting flipping through the papers.
The scene was peaceful for a moment.

The mechanical voice of the system suddenly echoed in her mind, startling Yu Ting who was engrossed in her work. Her eyes, scanning the project proposal, blinked in confusion.
It was the third time.
The third time she received a task with such a long deadline and such a small amount.
The amount was so small it was almost unnatural.
From millions to just a few tens, the drop was significant.
Such tasks didn’t require Yu Ting to make any special effort; she could easily complete them by simply working and eating normally.
Yu Ting pondered this problem for a while, unable to make sense of it.
Perhaps sensing Yu Ting’s confusion, the P System added a few more points.
