For the past few days, Yu Ting hadn’t spoken to Lu Nanchen, and Lu Nanchen hadn’t sought out Yu Ting either. Despite being in the same school, they were each busy with their own affairs.
According to the original book, the protagonist had skipped the first maths class, protesting at home, not wanting Lu Nanchen to teach her maths. She had a heated telephone argument with her father for more than an hour, and was subsequently not allowed to return home for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
But now, things were different. Yu Ting would definitely attend tomorrow’s class.
Why wouldn’t she?
It would be absurd for the class representative to skip class.
Time passed as Yu Ting indulged in her endless thoughts. Once she figured out most of her plans, she turned off the light and went to bed.

The following day, around nine o’clock, the two well-prepared individuals left the dormitory with a calculus textbook. Ning Xuan’s attire was much the same as the day before, although she had let her hair down somewhat on both sides, appearing a bit more regular.
Yu Ting, who had always found dresses impracticable for climbing trees or sitting with crossed legs, had switched to a pale pink tracksuit paired with pearl white sneakers.
With the same dusty pink palette, but lacking the previous heavy makeup, the clothes she was wearing gave a completely different feel.
By the time the two arrived in the classroom, there were only ten minutes left until class. The class representative from the second computer science class was taking attendance. The two found an empty seat in the middle of the room and sat down.
As soon as the class representative from the second class finished taking attendance, Yu Ting stood up with a piece of paper.
"Computer science class three, roll call."
Computer science, referring to the Computer Science and Technology major.
"Chen Tian."
"Present."
"Chen Xuanle."
"Present."

Yu Ting proceeded to call names from the register, and when she got to Song Zhan, she automatically skipped it and continued with the next one.
At the same time she was taking attendance, the substitute teacher entered the classroom. Flicking through a little notebook as he walked in, their eyes were immediately drawn to Lu Nanchen.
Having not seen him for several days, he was still dressed in his white shirt and black pants, which made Yu Ting frown.
How boring.
Lu Nanchen stepped into the classroom with a book in his hand. His white shirt was ironed crisp and straight, and housed behind a pair of black-framed glasses were eyes as deep as ever.
From Yu Ting’s viewpoint, she could see Lu Nanchen’s side profile as he ascended the lectern, his prominent, white-skinned Adam’s apple in plain view.
He seemed so restrained that she wanted to shatter it all.
"Oh my gosh, is this our new maths teacher?"
"Is the school really okay with such a handsome guy teaching classes? Aren’t they afraid we won’t be able to concentrate?"
"Damn, this teacher is so young. He’s knowledgeable and handsome. Does he plan to make living more difficult for everyone else?"
"Alright, nobody stop me. I’m going to add him as a contact to ask questions. From now on, maths will be my favourite subject, and I’ll only have books of this subject by my pillow."

As expected, this stirred up a wave of excitement. However, Yu Ting still hadn’t finished taking attendance. She constricted her gaze, cleared her throat a few times, and raised her voice a few decibels.
"Carrying on with the attendance, Su Dazhuang."
"Present."

With two minutes left until the start of the class, Lu Nanchen stood at the lectern, glanced at Yu Ting who was still taking the roll, and started fussing with the computer, inserting his USB drive.
He opened the file and started looking for the relevant class materials.
When the roll call was finished, Yu Ting walked up to the lectern with the register and handed it over to Lu Nanchen along with her pen.
"Sir, there are forty-nine students in Computer Science class three. Forty-eight are present, and one student is on sick leave."
