Lu Xiaobao’s transfer to Linji Primary School was entirely handled by Lu Nanchen and his uncle. Yu Ting had never set foot in the school before. Now, walking around the campus, her bright eyes took in everything. As soon as she stepped through the gate, she saw a bold red banner that read, "Warmly Celebrating the 29th Spring Sports Meet of Linji Primary School."
Yu Ting made her way to the playground, where hundreds of children were gathered. Some younger first graders were barely a meter tall, while some older sixth graders were as towering as 1.6 meters.
Just a few steps into the ground, there was a sand pit for long jump with a crowd of children around it. A few more were in line for a trial jump.
Xiaobao was called over by someone he knew as he passed by this sand patch.
"Lu Yan!"
"Come here, come here. You should give it a try too."
"No need, I’m not good at long jump."
Xiaobao gave a wave of his hand to decline.
However, a little boy quickly ran out from the crowd, pulling Xiaobao towards the vacant sand patch while calling out, "No worries, I can teach you."
Xiaobao glanced at his eager classmate, then at the boys attempting the long jump, revealing a hint of hesitation in his eyes.
"Come on."
His classmate encouraged him again. After all, long jump isn’t rocket science, he just needed to give it a shot.

Xiaobao compromised.
Then he stood side by side with his classmate, imitating his movements, swinging his hands by his side, bending and straightening his legs. He seemed to be catching on.
Then his classmate took a long jump.
Xiaobao followed with a long jump too.
But he put in too much effort and lost his balance while landing, and with a surge of momentum, Xiaobao stumbled and fell kneel-first onto the sandy ground.
