Chapter 382 - 381: Zhou Chengyan mocks Shen Ruchu: ’Did you get amniotic fluid in your brain when you were born?’_1

Shen Ruchu glanced at Yu Ting, and made a comment.

She didn’t understand Yu Ting’s frivolous spending at all, how can a good manager not wisely use or manage money?

VG Entertainment only has a year or two left to live.

Zhou Chengyan, who was still having a heartfelt conversation with his grandfather, turned towards Shen Ruchu upon hearing her scornful comments, and very soon, a smile crawled onto his face, which seemed a bit odd to others.

These two were not getting along?

Out of the corner of her eye, Yu Ting looked back at Shen Ruchu. After bidding, she withdrew her hand and retorted bluntly, "Did you come on this show to be a mentor, or to pick a bone with me?"

"Do I need your approval before spending my own money?"

"Just because you’re stingy, does it mean that I can’t spend?"

She felt that Shen Ruchu, an elitist for so long, had lost touch with reality. No one ever pointed out her flaws, which made her overly confident.

Yu Ting’s retort seemed to stun Shen Ruchu at first, leaving her red-faced with embarrassment.

Most of all, she felt humiliated by the ridicule from someone she saw as inferior. She finally closed her mouth after saying, ’Young lady, you do not understand the value of money, always spending recklessly.’

Zhou Chengyan turned his head and looked at Yu Ting, his smile becoming more pronounced.

The recording continued.

The fourth dreamer successfully advanced and stepped down from the stage, then came the fifth dreamer, a somewhat overweight middle-aged man clutching a notebook containing a few medical records.

The short film featured a five-minute monologue from the man, telling a story about his wife suffering from terminal liver cancer and their young son.

It covered everything from the initial shock upon learning of his wife’s diagnosis to his struggles to raise money for her treatment.

The middle-aged man was portrayed as a loving and caring husband, a worthy father.

It wasn’t long before Zhou Guorui began watching the video and subconsciously looked at Zhou Chengyan, whose eyes bulged a bit in surprise.

It was not so much the impact of the short film as its similarity to his own past experiences.

Some vague scenes uncontrollably popped up in his mind: a skinny woman lying in a hospital bed, the smell of pungent disinfectant...

But there were also some differences.

His own parents had fought for days on end, while the fifth dreamer hadn’t.

First, Zhou Chengyan displayed a look of confusion on his face as he watched the video, then his teeth clenched tight, a cold "tsk" escaped from his lips, his expression hardened. He seemed ready to burst out from the confines of the small mentor’s seat.

He felt uncomfortable and wanted to vent out.

Zhou Guorui, who had been watching the video for a while, subconsciously glanced towards his grandson. The latter’s reaction caused him a mild frustration, looking more like an old man in his sixties with sorrowful wrinkles replacing his previous stubborn demeanour.

The dreamer on the stage seemingly went through all the hardships one could imagine: his beloved wife being diagnosed with cancer, his son struggling with tuition fees, falling heavily into debt, selling off their house and car, and even having their spare change stolen.

For a moment, he won many tears from the audience.

Then came the time for the mentors to express their views.

Shen Ruchu remained unmoved, unaffected.

What’s there to persist with? It only adds to each other’s pain.

"In such a situation, I think it’s best to give up as early as possible. Most families simply can’t afford the treatment for cancer. It’s better to give up, rather than continue throwing money into a bottomless pit."

There it was again, Shen Ruchu started spewing her signature realism, directing the dreamers and imposing her own ideologies on them.

"You should consider finding another woman to share the task of raising a child."

Instead of receiving a response from the dreamer, a rebuttal came from Zhou Chengyan: "What crap are you talking about? According to you, he should have given up as soon as his wife was diagnosed with cancer and then find another woman to start a new family?"

"Did the amniotic fluid get into your brain when you were born?"
