The time passed busily, and Lu Nanchen didn’t accompany Yu Ting to the company for the next two days.
On the day of Yu Ting’s birthday, when Yu Ting woke up from her sleep in the morning, nothing seemed out of the ordinary at home. As usual, Lu Nanchen got up first to cook breakfast, then waited for her to wake up, and then she got ready and left for her job at the company.
Sitting on the bed, Yu Ting quickly went through her daily routine in her mind. From outside, the voice of Lu Nanchen came, "Come on, let’s eat. We need to go to work soon."
"Mmm, coming."
His voice broke Yu Ting’s spell of thought. She got off the bed and started her usual routine of getting dressed, washing up, and eating breakfast.
After breakfast, it was still Lu Nanchen who saw her off to work. The two waved each other goodbye at the bottom of their apartment building. With a faint smile on his face, Lu Nanchen said, "I won’t go to the company with you today. I can go again in a few days."

Sitting in the car and watching Lu Nanchen, Yu Ting thought such to herself, then cheerfully agreed: "Okay, I’m off to the company then. Once I finish these tasks, I don’t have to go there for a few days and can take a good rest."
Lu Nanchen answered with a gentle smile, "Hmm."
Then the car started, and the figure of Lu Nanchen in the rearview mirror grew smaller and smaller.
Every time, Lu Nanchen would wait until Yu Ting’s car turned the corner and disappeared before leaving to attend to his own affairs.
Feeling bored, Yu Ting sat in the car with her legs crossed. Her hair, untrimmed for a year, was now hanging down past her shoulders. Playing with her straight, dark locks, she stared blankly ahead.
It’s almost a year since I arrived in this place ... This body is now 21.

Daydreaming, Yu Ting rested her head on one hand and gazed out of the window.
When she came to work, she handled tasks as quietly and efficiently as she did in the previous few days. After two days of exposure, the company’s new song was on steady ground, topping New Song Chart and Soaring Chart and coming in 6th on Hot Song Chart.
Taking advantage of its debut’s popularity, rising to third place on the Hot Song Chart in the upcoming days would not be difficult. It even outperformed Fu Tiantian’s signature song. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
She then threw herself into other tasks until around four in the afternoon and invested in several projects totaling over ten million.
It wasn’t until around five in the afternoon that she left the company and drove home.
Yu Ting went upstairs, swiped her card to unlock the door, and entered to find the apartment dark. No lights were on, yet a faint, unfamiliar scent hung in the air.
She reached for the wall to find the light switch. A few seconds later, the room brightened.
Walking further into the room, Yu Ting noticed over twenty gifts of various sizes on the coffee table. Two cakes lay on the glass table. One was still in its package, while the other was fully exposed. Its design was as traditional as it could get- it had the number 21 and her name written on it in a beautiful font. It wasn’t particularly attractive to look at.
The scent in the air was even stronger now, intoxicating even.
There was also Lu Nanchen, standing there dressed more formally than usual. His carefully buttoned cuffs were just at his prominent wristbones, and his favorite metal chain watch gracing his arm. The overall look was much more striking than his usual attire post-work.
The reason he got so dressed up was because he considered Yu Ting’s birthday to be an important day worth celebrating.
Yu Ting had been observing Lu Nanchen for a while with a frank gaze. Her stare made him a bit uncomfortable, even nervous.
She’d never celebrated a birthday for a girl before.
She raised her porcelain-white fingers to toy with her hair tips and asked gently.
"What are you thinking? Is my outfit weird?"
