Lu Nanchen gasped when he heard this. After Yu Ziwen detained that man in the police station, getting ready to start recording the statement, before Yu Ziwen could go in, Lu Nanchen grabbed his hand and said, "During the interrogation, see if you can find out if he’s being manipulated by someone."
This sudden happening made it hard for Lu Nanchen to not connect it with Li Heng.
The fury on his face deepening.
Being manipulated?
Yu Ziwen grasped the keyword, looked at Lu Nanchen and asked, inquiringly, "Manipulated by someone? What do you mean? Did you offend someone before, so now they want to harm Yu Ting?"
"Hmm, maybe."
"What? In this law-abiding society, they dare?" After replying with a mock, Yu Ziwen checked the clock on the wall - it was nearly time. He bid Lu Nanchen a temporary farewell, turned around and headed towards the interrogation room.
Touching his slightly prickly short hair, he only left two sentences behind. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Contact me if you need anything."
"If it is indeed someone who holds a grudge against you, I’ll have them both dealt with today."
After more than half a minute, upon entering the interrogation room, Yu Ziwen sat down. The man across from him was secured to the chair, still struggling ceaselessly, making metallic clinking noises.
It was a bit noisy.
Yu Ziwen flipped open the first page of his notebook and warned, "You still haven’t given up? Still struggling?"
"Don’t hold any illusions. I’m going to ask you a few questions now. If you answer truthfully, you might be able to serve a few less years."
"Why did you try to stab Yu Ting?"
The man stopped struggling now, and also stopped talking, sitting silently on the chair.
Yu Ziwen, who was recording the conversation, occasionally raised his gaze to look at him. He smirked and said, "Don’t want to speak?"
The man remained silent.
"Fine, if you don’t want to talk, then I’ll just rephrase it." After Yu Ziwen finished writing the last word, he released the neutral pen and rested his chin upon his crossed hands. He looked deeply at him and asked,
"Who’s pulling your strings behind the scenes?"
The man remained silent.
He asserted a ’I won’t speak no matter what sentence you give me’ attitude.
The interrogation ended in just over two minutes, with the man not revealing any information throughout.
After coming out, Yu Ziwen relayed the situation to Lu Nanchen: "It’s likely that someone is behind him. We can’t find the reason he wanted to stab Yu Ting. Be more careful lately, and I will look into it further."
"Hmm," responded Lu Nanchen, his expression still as heavy as water.
The two chatted for a bit and then parted ways. Lu Nanchen hurried back to VG. Yu Ting still had to record the last episode of "Dreaming Twenty-first Century" in the afternoon.
When he got back, Yu Ting was sitting unscathed on the office sofa, resting, and her assistant was reading aloud to her from something on a computer screen.
Upon hearing the noise, Yu Ting looked towards the door. Seeing Lu Nanchen, she asked, "What happened? Did they catch the guy? What did he say? Why did he want to stab me?"
Lu Nanchen answered while sitting down beside Yu Ting. He then held Yu Ting in his arms and took a deep sniff, "They caught him, but he didn’t say a word during the interrogation."
Hearing this, Yu Ting snorted coldly.
"I’ll hire someone to investigate. This matter can’t just be left like that."
