The two of them picked up folic acid tablets and drove home. Along the way, they stopped at a grocery market to buy ingredients for their afternoon meal.
After parking the car at the market, Lu Nanchen, who was in the driver’s seat, didn’t rush to leave. While unbuckling his seatbelt, he instructed Yu Ting, "Wait in the car for me while I go buy some groceries."
The market was crowded; it was easier to not bring Yu Ting along.
"Okay, you go ahead."
"Do you want anything in particular?"
Yu Ting thought it over for a bit, "Pickled cabbage fish."
"Anything else?"
"Spicy chicken."
"Alright, wait for me; I’ll be right back after shopping." Nanchen stated with a small grin. Seeing Yu Ting nod in agreement, he got out of the car, striding faster than usual with his long legs.
Sitting in the car, Yu Ting watched Nanchen’s retreating figure until he disappeared into the crowded market. Then she started passing the time with other activities.
After checking her phone for a while, Yu Ting got bored and leaned her face on her hand, looking around boredly.
This market wasn’t far from where Yu Ting and Lu Nanchen lived. Nanchen frequented it often. The location was good, and there was a big shopping mall next to it.
Big shopping mall.
That shopping mall...
Yu Ting looked toward the mall and noticed a banner hanging across the east entrance.
In order to read what was written on it, Yu Ting squinted, her attention piqued.
However, she couldn’t still make it out. It was too far.
All she could see was a giant inflatable castle, surrounded by many children.
There must be some event happening.
As Yu Ting pondered this, the light in front of her was suddenly blocked. Lu Nanchen, now done with shopping, stood with his bags next to the passenger side door.
Lu Nanchen, watching the daydreaming Yu Ting, leaned slightly forward, getting his head closer to the car window. This brought him closer to her. He casually asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"I was looking at that mall over there. It seemed to be hosting some event. There were so many kids around."
Hearing this, Lu Nanchen straightened up and peered toward the shopping mall.
After observing for a bit, he shared his findings with Yu Ting.
"They’re having a mother and baby products event with numerous kids attending. Some children are even singing. If you’re curious, we can check it out another day."
Children singing?
Hearing this, Yu Ting slightly lifted her eyebrows, then hummed in response.
After providing the information to Yu Ting, Lu Nanchen opened the passenger door, stood in front of her, and raised the grocery bags in his hand.
"Is there anything else we need to purchase?"
Yu Ting quirked an eyebrow once again, then inspected the contents of the bags carefully.
"Well... you didn’t buy pickled cabbage. How will we make pickled cabbage fish without it?"
After checking several times and being sure she saw fish but no pickled cabbage, she asked, her voice tinged with confusion.
They had the ingredients for spicy chicken, but what about the pickled cabbage fish?
"We won’t be having pickled cabbage fish. Let’s change things up and have tofu fish instead," said Lu Nanchen. Seeing that Yu Ting didn’t have any other concerns, he closed the car door again. After putting the groceries in the trunk, he returned to the driver’s seat.
He began to strap on his seatbelt.
His movements were so smooth, it was as if he hadn’t planned on buying pickled cabbage in the first place.

At first, Yu Ting was confused. Then, she figured Lu Nanchen wouldn’t have done this for no reason.
Which meant?
A ’vinegar’ boy and a ’chilli’ girl?
Yu Ting was stunned by her own deduction. She rested one hand on her chin.
Taking Lu Nanchen’s recent behavior into consideration, it wasn’t an unlikely possibility.
