Chapter 569 - 566: Ning Xuan x Song Yue (Part 7) _1

"Why did you come out of the blue to have a meal with me today?" Ning Xuan asked.

In the morning, when she visited his office, she saw many files piled up still unattended.

There was no time to spare for a meal at Drunken Penglai.

"Am I not allowed to eat when I’m hungry?" Song Yue replied casually, "Speaking of which, did you take the afternoon off for a blind date?"

Ning Xuan: ???

"What blind date? Boss, what are you thinking? It was just my mom and Aunt Liu trying to introduce him to me."

"So, it’s still a blind date?"

Ning Xuan: ?

"No, I knew he worked at a job fair, so I thought I could ask him about part-time jobs, that’s why I met him." Ning Xuan said, uncovering her true intentions.

"Looking for a job? What kind of job do you want to find? Or are you planning to quit this one for another?" Song Yue’s face tightened with sudden concern, his hand unconsciously grabbed Ning Xuan’s wrist.

"I mean, looking for a job. Isn’t your maternity leave secretary going to come back soon? I can’t just do nothing after finishing my work here this year. I have to find something else to do." Ning Xuan waved her rist a few times in an attempt to shake off Song Yue’s hand, but failed to get free.

Song Yue was silent, watching the woman struggling before him.

A woman of about 170cm standing in front of him still didn’t measure up, he could clearly see her full figure. Her face was a bit cold and unfriendly, but her features were undoubtedly beautiful, giving off a sense of aloofness.

She was now trying to break free from his grip.

"You don’t have to look for a job," a cold, deep male voice rang out, slowing Ning Xuan’s struggles. She looked up to see Song Yue staring at her, his hair framed by a faint halo in the soft light.

"You keep being my secretary, I’ll create another secretary position." Song Yue added, his thin lips pursed. He covered his face with his hand to hide his embarrassment.

Almost.

He almost said ’I’ll take care of you’ outright.

...

Several days later, the season changed, a time when colds were most prevalent.

As always, after finishing his work, Song Yue wandered around the office, then walked to the secretary’s office within a few minutes. He saw Ning Xuan sprawled across the desk.

"You’re not sleeping on the job, are you?" Song Yue walked in and asked, then realized that Ning Xuan was simply lying on the desk not sleeping.

Upon hearing his voice, she lifted her head to look at him. Her pale face was flushed, teary eyes occasionally sniffling.

Song Yue caught his breath.

Then swiftly approached, placing his hand on Ning Xuan’s forehead. It was burning up. She was feverish.

"You have a fever?" Song Yue asked, standing next to Ning Xuan, his mind quickly shifting gears to form a plan.

"Seems like it. I already felt a cold coming on this morning, didn’t expect to develop a fever so quickly this afternoon." Ning Xuan replied, her head felt dizzy and she soon lay back on the desk.

Seeing Ning Xuan, Song Yue clicked his tongue, turned off the air conditioning in the secretary’s office, and called his assistant on the phone.

"Hello? It’s me."

"Help me buy some fever and anti-inflammatory medicine."

Song Yue paused in his request when Ning Xuan tugged at his shirt hem, the woman’s dazed voice piped up, "Don’t buy fluid medicine, I want capsules, liquid is bitter."

"Now you know medication is bitter when you’re sick." Song Yue glared at Ning Xuan, his comment laced with frustration.

His assistant on the phone was confused: "Huh? Song Yue, what did you say?"

"Never mind, get capsule medicine, don’t buy liquid medicine, be quick."
