A big burly man walked over, glanced at the variety of jade stones, then at the price tag, and asked, "Hey, old man, can you sell these jade stones a bit cheaper? I want to buy several pieces."
Crunch, Crunch.
Without interrupting his sunflower seed chewing, the old man gave him a glance and retorted, "The sign clearly states ’no negotiation’."
His statement made the man gasp before his face registered an irked look: "Have a look around in this jade stone market; who has prices as high as yours?"
"They are they, I am me." The crunching noises stopped for a brief moment as the old man stated nonchalantly.
Though he hadn’t sold a single stone since setting up his stand in the morning, he still had no intention of dropping his prices.
Nothing to it, he just felt that the stones he had were worth the prices he asked for. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
The stones some people were selling he wasn’t even sure where they dug out, whereas his were authentically sourced from mines.
How could one compare the two?
Thinking about this, the old man’s expression seemed even more composed.
More composed while munching on his seeds.
From the way he spoke, one could sense that he had great confidence in the pieces of jade stones he carried.
Confidence my ass.
"If you’re so sure about your stones, why don’t you cut them open yourself and sell the jade?!"
"I’m not short on money, I simply enjoy the hustle and bustle here," the old man replied promptly and decisively.
He liked the ambiance of the jade market where he could occasionally pick up a few pieces for fun.
Musing over this, the old man finished his seeds, picked up another handful of sunflower seeds and continued snacking.
Crunch, Crunch.
"I see you’re just greedy, trying to make more money!" The man said angrily, not believing the old man lacked money. He strongly believed the old man was just trying to earn extra profit.
Each large piece of uncarved jade could produce at most a small piece of jade, with the rest being waste material.
Paying for so much waste, and at such a high price.
It was clear this was blatant greed.
"I bet no one’s going to buy that jade of yours!" Frustrated, the man cursed.
He was eager to see which fool...
Small footsteps approached from the side, and a young girl appeared.
The girl crouched down, supporting herself with hands on her knees, looked seriously at the price tag and the sizes of the jade stones. Then, a satisfied smile appeared on her face.
"I want to buy some jade stones."
The man: ?
"I’ll take these large ones."
The man: ????
Damn, there really are any.
"Okay." Seeing a customer, the old man stopped eating the seeds and showed a kindly smile. He motioned towards a big jade stone by his side, "This one’s more expensive, 70,000 per kilogram."
"Deal."
Yu Ting agreed quickly.
Hearing her response, the old man started to weigh the large jade stones for Yu Ting one by one.
After picking out the jade stones Yu Ting straightened up, quietly waiting for the weighing to finish.
The man who had been shocked by her purchases glanced at Yu Ting, then at the old man, and cursed openly: "Damn, there are really fools that would buy."
He thought to himself: a greedy old man meets a rich fool. Perfect match!
"...If you feel it’s too expensive, why not try a different store? No one forced you to buy here."
Yu Ting had overheard their conversation when she arrived and, not knowing what else to say, gave the man a cold stare.
"Puh."
The man responded with a sound of contempt and muttered something that Yu Ting ignored as the old man finished calculating the price.
"Six large jade stones, about 300 kilograms in total, that would be 16.72 million yuan in total."
