Chapter 54: A Little Fall
It was already eleven o'clock when they finished, and they chatted for a while until half past eleven before turning off the lights.
The bedroom was dark.
The two of them slept in each other's arms. Wen Zhixian felt sleepy at eleven o'clock. Now if he lay down, he estimated that he would fall asleep within five minutes.
When I was about to fall asleep, Qi Yanjing beside me suddenly whispered to me and asked, "Will you be angry with me if I don't tell you something?"
Wen Zhixian heard his words clearly, but was still very sleepy, so he asked back, "Like what happened today?"
Qi Yanjing responded.
Wen Zhixian did not hesitate and replied directly: "No, this will not affect our relationship. Even if it is such a thing, I have violated a taboo, and you are emotionally stable."
She paused for two seconds and then continued, "Although I am curious about what it is, I just feel that you are sad and want to understand. I also know that some things cannot be expressed, so it doesn't matter."
"What if there is something I'm hiding from you?" He asked softly, stroking Zhihan's back.
Wen Zhixian suddenly sobered up a bit and asked calmly, "You are not breaking the law, are you? Or are you in debt?"
Qi Yanjing laughed out loud, and his laughter was particularly alluring in the dark night.
"Good citizen, no crime and no debt."
She hummed, already feeling sleepy, and her consciousness gradually faded away as she fell asleep.
Qi Yanjing didn't wait for her response, and he could only hear her very light breathing in his ears.
I recalled what she had just said in my mind.
The words spoken late at night are always the most touching.
I seem to be falling bit by bit.
They want to live their whole life willingly.
-
Qi Yanjing woke up early in the morning and made breakfast.
After making breakfast, I returned to the bedroom, sat on the bed and called Wen Zhixian.
"It's time to eat."
He pinched Wen Zhixian's face, and Wen Zhixian muttered, "Eat it yourself."
He turned over and faced away from Qi Yanjing, seeming to have regained consciousness.
Qi Yanjing thought that he might be tired from last night, so he left the bedroom.
He had just finished half of his breakfast when Wen Zhihan came out of the bedroom in her pajamas after washing up and sat on the chair next to him. "It's all your fault. I can't sleep."
Qi Yanjing smiled, picked up the bowl in front of her, stood up and filled her with a bowl of millet porridge, and put the spoon in her hand: "Eat your fill before you curse."
Wen Zhixian was amused by his joke and stirred the bowl with a spoon.
"Are you going to school later?" she asked casually.
"I don't have classes today, so I'm working from home." Academic papers and project topics all require time to be done.
Wen Zhixian looked up at him, and he told Zhixian about his daily life. "I personally don't like giving lectures everywhere. I only go occasionally when I can't turn them down. My previous condition wasn't very good, so I would take a break when I have time. Besides, I'm not starting a business. Apart from teaching and guiding students, the rest of my work is academic papers and research projects that I have to write every year."
She understood this, after all, her father was the same, but her father also had a company and was busier.
She nodded, and inexplicably recalled what happened before. She suddenly asked, "When you came to the store to buy coffee that night, did you just come back from school?"
Qi Yanjing paused and thought for a moment, "The day when Gu Yuchen threw the ring?"
Wen Zhixian laughed, "It was that day."
"There was a seminar that day, and we had dinner together in the evening, so it was a little late." He couldn't help but curl his lips when he thought of that day: "I happened to walk to the door, and I heard you say 'get out'. I stood at the door and thought for two seconds whether you were talking about me."
Then someone came out and threw a ring box into the trash can next to him. Only then did he know for sure that they were not talking about him.
What's even funnier is that when he asked Zhixian if she had any coffee, she was crying and looked so fragile. He was still thinking about whether he should say something, but in just a few seconds, Zhixian's eyes suddenly became firm, and it seemed that he didn't need to say anything.
"I was wondering why someone was standing at the door and not coming in."
Qi Yanjing raised his brows slightly, "It wouldn't be good if I went in there."
"If you say something for me, Gu Yuchen will definitely say something nonsense in that state." After all, he has never been scolded, so he might say something outrageous when he is angry.
She changed the subject and asked, "Then why do you get up so early to make breakfast?"
"I've slept enough." Compared to the past, the quality of sleep I get in one day is now equivalent to that of the previous three days.
Totally energized.
Wen Zhihan was speechless. Was she the only one who was tired after doing that last night?
And he was the one moving the whole time. Never mind, I won't bother with him. It can be considered as serving her.
Qi Yanjing picked up a small piece of beef patty, put it to her lips, and asked her to eat it.
"After breakfast, I'll go buy some ingredients. What do you want to eat for lunch?" he asked.
Wen Zhixian swallowed the beef pie in his mouth and said, "Let's go together."
"Aren't you going to the store?"
"I hired a new clerk two days ago, so it won't be too busy."
Qi Yanjing agreed: "Okay."
Wen Zhixian lowered her head, thinking about something. When Qi Yanjing put down his chopsticks, he saw her looking up at him. She said to him hesitantly, "Well...how about I go see your friend later?"
Qi Yanjing was slightly startled, then forced a smile and said, "Okay."
We should also meet him, and in fact we shouldn't just meet Xie Daoran.
Wen Zhixian finished the remaining porridge in the bowl and wiped his mouth with a tissue. "Then I'll go change my clothes."
Qi Yanjing responded with a smile, then stood up and started to clean the table.
She changed into a white dress and put on a black windbreaker.
After looking her over, Qi Yanjing picked out a black windbreaker from the closet that was the same as hers.
Match her.
On the way, Wen Zhixian asked him, "What kind of flowers does your friend like?"
"I don't have a particular favorite. I like anything that people give me as a gift."
In the flower shop, Wen Zhixian still picked a bunch of white roses.
Drove to the cemetery.
After getting off the car, Qi Yanjing led her up the mountain.
"At the top?" she asked, looking up into the distance.
Qi Yanjing hummed, "I heard that he asked someone to calculate and bought a piece of Feng Shui treasure land at the top. He is too young and has not seen what the world looks like."
So let him overlook the scenery below from the top of the mountain.
Wen Zhihan sighed secretly in his heart, held Qi Yanjing's hand instead, and walked side by side with him, holding the flowers.
There was another bouquet of flowers in front of the tombstone, which seemed to be from this morning. Someone had been there before them.
Wen Zhixian placed the white rose in front of the stele and squatted down to look at the words on it. His name, Xie Daoran, was engraved on the stele, and there was also a photo embedded on it.
He looks to be about eight or nine years old, but he is still handsome and has the look of a cold and superior person.
I haven't seen the wider world yet...
"If I can still be here today, I must be excellent."
Qi Yanjing listened to her words. If this incident had not happened, he might have been a different person.
