Chapter 14 Surprisingly, the STEM guy isn't bald.
The doorbell rang.
Xie Yanning went out to open the door.
Su Wanwan took a deep breath. She had it all planned out. She would get straight to the point and say that the toy had fallen into the small garden behind the house. Then, she would rush to the small garden in the blink of an eye, giving Xie Yanning no chance to react.
Su Wanwan nodded, feeling that her plan was absolutely flawless.
The small iron gate of the house downstairs opened, slowly revealing Xie Yanning's face, which was said to be a scourge to the country.
Su Wanwan smiled and handed the wedding candy to Xie Yanning, "As you know, my friend is getting married, so I came to give you some wedding candy."
Xie Yanning accepted it.
"Thanks."
The two fell silent for a moment.
Su Wanwan got to the point: "My cat's toy fell here, I'll go in and pick it up."
Xie Yanning's gaze lingered on her face, and he softly hummed in agreement.
That's so damn embarrassing.
No, if you said "uh-huh," then move aside!
With Xie Yanning blocking the way, Su Wanwan felt awkward pushing him aside to go inside.
“Then…” Su Wanwan gestured with her eyes.
Xie Yanning smiled slightly and stepped aside to let her in.
"Thanks."
With that, Su Wanwan grabbed the cat and ran off.
Su Wanwan ran to the back garden, took a breath, and stuffed the silk red panties into her pocket.
She specially changed into casual clothes, just for convenience now.
Thank goodness, no one noticed, and an even bigger embarrassment was averted.
She calmed herself down before slowly walking out.
Xie Yanning walked a little further in and stood there, seemingly lost in thought.
He didn't say anything when he saw her come out.
"Um, thank you, I'm sorry to have troubled you," Su Wanwan said dryly.
Xie Yanning gave a soft "Mmm," and asked, "You found it?"
"Uh, yes."
Too awkward, Su Wanwan didn't want to stay any longer.
"Then, Professor Xie, I'll go up first." Seeing the wedding candy in his hand, she added, "That candy is quite sweet, you can try some."
Xie Yanning suddenly looked at her, his eyes seemingly filled with a mix of emotions. After a long while, he said, "Thank you, Miss Su. I will try it."
The words finally came out a few more times, and Su Wanwan was so moved she wanted to cry—or so she thought.
"Okay, then."
This conversation was so awkward it was almost unbearable.
Since there was nothing to say anyway, and the other party didn't seem too welcoming, anyone wouldn't be happy to have their weekend disturbed.
Su Wanwan understood.
She turned to leave, but after only a few steps, Yuanxiao in her arms seemed to be attracted by something and struggled desperately. Su Wanwan was caught off guard and was forced to break free. The force caused her to fall down as well, her knees hitting the bluestone slab heavily.
She managed to grab the flower stand in front of her with her hand to prevent herself from falling over.
Xie Yanning's "Be careful" came too late.
He ran over and helped the person up, his tone unusually calm, and if you listened closely, he seemed a little nervous: "Are you alright?"
Su Wanwan endured the pain with great difficulty to prevent her face from contorting, "Do you think I'm alright?"
It really hurts!
She suspected her kneecaps were about to shatter.
Xie Yanning supported her, "Can you still walk?"

He gently picked up Su Wanwan and carried her into the living room.
The moment she was lifted into the air, Su Wanwan froze on the spot.
After a moment of realization, she realized that it wasn't easy to struggle, and if she landed again, she was afraid of injuring her knees again.
She stood for several hours during surgery, and the knee injury she sustained was no small matter.
She didn't know where to put her hand, so she could only hold it loosely, her heart pounding and her whole body stiff.
Even with just a light touch, you can feel the muscle definition beneath the thin sweater.
Xie Yanning looks like a very tall and muscular man, but I didn't expect him to have such solid muscles.
Her gaze involuntarily drifted upwards, only to catch a glimpse of Xie Yanning's clearly defined jawline.
Many of her classmates have gained weight at this age, and some have even gone bald.

Su Wanwan felt a slight pang of jealousy.
I had only taken a couple of steps when Yuanxiao followed meowing.
Su Wanwan struggled for a moment, and Xie Yanning said softly, "Don't move."
"No, the cat will follow me inside in a bit." If I remember correctly, Xie Yanning should be a germaphobe.
Although Yuanxiao isn't very active, it's hard to guarantee that she won't knock over something in Xie Yanning's house out of curiosity. If that happens, she'll be guilty beyond redemption.
Xie Yanning looked down at the cat struggling to climb up from beneath her feet. "Just follow it."
"You can pay for the cleaning if there's any damage."
Su Wanwan: "..."
Okay, since you've put it that way.
After placing the person on the sofa, Xie Yanning said, "I'll go get an ice pack."
Yuanxiao seemed to know she had done something wrong, and the cat obediently curled up to one side, gently rubbing its head against her.
Su Wanwan stroked the cat's head. "Good girl, I'm fine."
He gently lifted his trouser leg, revealing a bruise on his knee.
Xie Yanning came over with a first-aid kit and a new towel. Su Wanwan's legs were so white they were dazzling. He looked away and asked, "How are you? Is it serious?"
Although Su Wanwan is not an orthopedic surgeon, she has rotated through the orthopedic department and has some experience with common falls and bruises.
She tried to straighten her leg slightly, and thankfully, it seemed to be nothing serious, just some soft tissue contusion.
"It should be fine. Just give me an ice pack to apply."
Xie Yanning had already prepared the ice pack, which he wrapped in a towel and handed to Su Wanwan.
Su Wanwan placed the towel on her lap and couldn't help but hiss. Even through the towel, it was still a bit chilly in this weather.
The sofa wasn't very high, so Su Wanwan had to bend her legs and keep her hands on it to press down. Xie Yanning said, "Put your legs up on the sofa, it will be more comfortable."
"Wouldn't that be inappropriate?" Su Wanwan said. It was indeed impolite to put her bare feet on someone's sofa, especially since they weren't familiar with each other.
"Put it up here, you'll pay for the cleaning anyway."
Su Wanwan: "..."

Su Wanwan's hands were indeed a little tired, but she decided to accept the offer and put her legs up on the table, since she was going to pay anyway.

Generally, applying an ice pack takes about half an hour. The two remained silent. Xie Yanning asked, "What would you like to drink? We have coffee and tea."
"Coffee, please." Su Wanwan could already smell the aroma of coffee.
Xie Yanning brought it over, and Su Wanwan said, "Thank you."
"It smells so good, Professor Xie. With your skills, you could open a coffee shop even if you lose your job."
"Thank you for your suggestion." Xie Yanning also picked up a glass and sat down on the other side of the sofa.
