Chapter 2 Reunion with Xie Yanning

Chapter 2 Reunion with Xie Yanning

Upon waking, Su Wanwan stared blankly at the ceiling, unable to understand why she had dreamt of Xie Yanning. She felt aggrieved for her own version of herself in the dream.

She rolled over, silently pounding the bed. Why?!

This person hadn't appeared in her heart for a very, very long time.

"What the hell is all this nonsense?" she thought, scratching her hair in frustration before getting up to calm herself down.

Her fat orange cat was already scratching at the door.

When she opened the door, she saw someone looking up at her with wet eyes.

Su Wanwan felt somewhat healed and squatted down to pet the cat for a while. "Good boy, stay home by yourself for today. Your mom is going out for a bit."

Yuanxiao meowed a few times and nibbled at her trouser leg, seemingly expressing her dissatisfaction.

"Don't be like that. When you're in the world of martial arts, you can't always control your own destiny." Su Wanwan ruffled its little round head.

After washing up, Su Wanwan dawdled around until eleven o'clock before finally getting ready to go out.

It was a bit chilly, so she chose to wear a fitted, light trench coat.

She wasn't wearing makeup, and her hair was just lying loose and unkempt.

Su Wanwan is naturally beautiful. Even after studying medicine for so many years, her hair is still thick and black, and she has no problem with hair loss.

She even complained that her hair was too thick, too hard to dry, and too hot in the summer, which Yang Lewei deeply despised as her not knowing how lucky she was.

The time is around noon, and the location is a high-end restaurant in the city.

Yang Lewei arrived first, found a seat, ordered a juice, and prepared to watch the show up close.

Honey, I've arrived. I'll play it by ear.

Go for it, fighting!

"..."

Thank you so much.

Su Wanwan put her phone back in her trench coat pocket and pressed the elevator button on the first floor.

The elevator rises from the underground parking lot.

Looking up at the fluctuating numbers on the elevator, Su Wanwan frowned slightly. The thought of this unconventional blind date dinner made her feel rather uneasy.

She had absolutely no interest in Chen Heting.

Or rather, she has little interest in dating.

In her words, men affected her paper-publishing speed; otherwise, in the cutthroat medical field, she wouldn't have been able to graduate with her doctorate so quickly and obtain her medical license so smoothly.

After all, the widowed king had earned numerous degrees.

Her mother hasn't even made any arrangements for her yet, but someone else has already arranged them for her.

The restaurant is on the fifteenth floor.

As the elevator doors opened, Su Wanwan's breath caught in her throat when her gaze inadvertently swept inside.

The elevator was large, and even with several people inside, it didn't feel crowded. Su Wanwan spotted the man in the corner at a glance.

This is a young and handsome face, with particularly outstanding eyebrows and eyes, prominent brow bones, a high nose bridge, and an overall noble demeanor.

He was very tall and was looking down at his phone. When the elevator doors opened, he glanced up as usual, paused for two seconds or less, then looked down again, his eyes calm and unwavering, as if the person about to enter was just a stranger.

Su Wanwan's throat tightened, her breathing became slightly rapid, and she walked in with mechanical steps.

After pressing the floor button, Su Wanwan stood there stiffly.

The elevator doors slowly closed, and the gleaming elevator made it easy for her to see the entire interior.

She stiffly ran her hand through her hair, becoming concerned about her appearance for the first time.

The person behind her was looking down at their phone, occasionally typing, and didn't look at her at all.

Su Wanwan awkwardly lowered her hand, feeling utterly ashamed.

When they reached the eighth floor, Su Wanwan was pushed to the back, only a hand's breadth away from Xie Yanning. She could even see his phone screen out of the corner of her eye.

The white and green dialog box indicates that someone is chatting with another person.

She hadn't seen Xie Yanning for eight years since graduating from high school.

Xie Yanning's appearance hasn't changed much; he's just grown from a carefree and dashing young man into a mature and steady young man.

His height may have increased slightly. Judging from her height of 168 cm, which has remained unchanged since she entered high school, he must have grown at least three centimeters taller, perhaps reaching 186 cm.

Su Wanwan was lost in her own thoughts, while Xie Yanning seemed completely unaware of her presence, or perhaps he simply didn't care.

Old classmates I haven't seen for years are just strangers I pass by.

She lowered her head, forcibly suppressing her thoughts; perhaps she no longer remembered her.

She transferred to the school in her senior year of high school. Everyone had only known each other for a year, so it's normal that they don't remember her. Anyway, she didn't remember many people either.

The elevator moved quickly, reaching the fifteenth floor, where Xie Yanning followed the flow of people out.

With his long legs and large strides, Su Wanwan looked over as she came out, and a beautiful woman walked right in front of her.

The woman wore a dark green trench coat, which made her skin appear even whiter and more like jade.

She wore exquisite makeup, with one side of her hair tucked behind her ear, and matching jeweled earrings adorning her fair earlobes.

There is a beautiful woman, living apart from the world.

Anyone who sees them would think they're a perfect match.

Su Wanwan paused, feeling as if she had known it all along and that there was no need to be surprised.

Why not go to a fancy restaurant with Zhang Yunqing on a perfectly good weekend? Who else would you go with?

It wasn't hard to guess that it was her on the other end of the phone.

They're about to meet in person, yet they're still so clingy on WeChat.

There was a beautiful and academically gifted girl in one of the classes at Lincheng No. 1 High School. After Su Wanwan transferred to the school, there were two of them.

However, Zhang Yunqing's beauty was fresh and refined, like a secluded orchid in a valley, while Su Wanwan's beauty was as bright and vibrant as a rose, which was a bit vulgar.

Zhang Yunqing had a big smile on his face, but when his gaze swept over her and he saw her, his eyes fixed on her, and his smile froze on his face.

Xie Yanning turned her gaze over, but didn't look at her at all. She simply asked with a puzzled expression, "What's wrong?"

The sound wasn't loud, but Su Wanwan heard it clearly, and the sound made her heart ache slightly.

Su Wanwan twitched the corner of her mouth, finding it somewhat amusing.

She turned her back and walked towards the restroom, taking deep breaths and blinking frantically to calm herself down.

The person in the mirror had slightly red eyes. Su Wanwan muttered to herself, "After all these years, you're still so useless."

Su Wanwan entered the restaurant five minutes before the agreed time, and the waiter led her to a booth in the corner.

The booths are separated by glass screens that allow light to pass through but not people, making good use of the space while ensuring privacy.

She sat down and sent a WeChat message to Chen Heting's mother, telling her her location.

Not long after, a middle-aged woman dressed in a serious manner walked over.

She was wearing a skirt suit, her hair was neatly combed, she wore gold-rimmed glasses, and she carried a low-key but instantly recognizable limited-edition designer bag.

"Dr. Su?" The voice was polite yet distant.

Su Wanwan looked up, stood up, and smiled, "Hello, I am Su Wanwan."

The two sat down, and Xiao Rujuan withdrew her slightly scrutinizing gaze.

Whether it's good news or not, Su Wanwan could tell that she was probably quite satisfied with her appearance.

Naturally, no one would be dissatisfied with Su Wanwan's face.

Su Wan ordered a drink and a set meal, while Xiao Rujuan only ordered a vegetable salad.

Xiao Rujuan glanced at the food in front of Su Wanwan but said nothing.

"Miss Su, since this is a blind date, we should make things clear. Why don't you introduce yourself first?" Xiao Rujuan was very polite, but her tone left no room for refusal.

Knowing that her sister-in-law was going to introduce a potential partner to her son, Xiao Rujuan naturally wanted to vet the potential partner first.

Too many women are eyeing their family; she can't let her son get entangled with an unsuitable woman.

Su Wanwan: "..."

Well, if you didn't know better, you'd think she was in a job interview.
