Chapter 52: Cowardly Yet Flirtatious

Chapter 52: Cowardly Yet Flirtatious

Xie Yanning took the phone with a puzzled look, and then her eyebrows furrowed so deeply they could have killed a mosquito.

Especially that filthy photo.

Xie Yanning wished she could chop it up herself.

"How long has it been?" Xie Yanning asked in a low voice.

“He sends text messages, which I almost never read, but they’ve only started coming in more frequently these last couple of days,” Su Wanwan said. “He must have seen you in the parking lot tonight and that triggered him.”

Xie Yanning thought of the figure that flashed by in the parking lot.

He pulled Su Wanwan into his arms and kissed her forehead: "Don't be afraid, I'm here, I'll take care of it."

Su Wanwan trembled slightly. She hugged Xie Yanning's waist tightly and nestled in her arms.

"It's not that I'm scared, it's just that I feel a little nauseous."

"Why don't you stay at my place tonight?" Xie Yanning said, as he was really worried about leaving Su Wanwan alone at home.

For the first time, Su Wanwan felt that her home was rather large, and even a little frighteningly empty.

"What about the Lantern Festival?" She looked up at Xie Yanning.

“Your fat cat has long considered my place its second home,” Xie Yanning chuckled, trying to soothe Su Wanwan’s emotions. “We’ll just move it over tomorrow.”

Su Wanwan didn't expect to be proven wrong so quickly.

They were making grand promises a moment ago, and then they showed up at our door.

Su Wanwan quickly packed some clothes.

"The client hasn't finished cleaning, so you can stay in my room for now." Xie Yanning led the person to her room.

This was the first time Su Wanwan had entered his room.

The room's overall style, like him, was somewhat aloof.

In the center is a large bed, and beside that, there's a small cabinet next to it for storing small items. The walk-in closet is on the other side.

"Isn't your room a bit too simple?" Su Wanwan asked. It really was just a place to sleep.

"If the room isn't for sleeping, what's it for?" Xie Yanning walked to the dressing room and pushed her clothes to the other side. "You can put your clothes here for now."

Su Wanwan was a little embarrassed, "Am I just taking over someone else's place?"

Xie Yanning looked at her without saying anything, tidied her up, and then left: "It's getting late, you should rest first. You can call me if you need anything."

Su Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief.

She admitted that she had been a little nervous.

If Xie Yanning were to say he would stay here too, would she agree or disagree?

Su Wanwan lay on Xie Yanning's bed.

The blankets were newly changed, but since it was Xie Yanning's room, she always felt surrounded by his scent and couldn't help but imagine what Xie Yanning would look like sleeping here.

She turned over, hugged the blanket, and quickly fell asleep.

In the study, Xie Yanning sent the number to her friend, "Help me find out who the owner of this phone is."

Chai Jianming happened to yawn in the office. Seeing that Xie Yanning rarely needed his help, he joked, "Let's make this clear first, this won't make me do anything wrong, will it?"

"If you really make a mistake, won't it implicate me too? Don't worry, if I really make a mistake, I won't let you know."

Chai Jianming thought about it and agreed.

A genius like Xie Yanning is just a law-abiding good person. If he were truly wicked, he might even lead you astray while getting away unscathed himself.

As for something as trivial as looking up a phone number, Xie Yanning could do it with just a few taps.

Of course, for him, it's just a matter of moving a finger.

He entered the number into the system, which showed that the owner was a 70-year-old woman living alone in another district, whose children were all abroad.

"Are you sure she doesn't have any relatives in the country?" Xie Yanning tapped lightly on the desk.

"To make sure no information is missed, I've already called the local community to ask you. She's an elderly woman living alone, who usually has social workers taking care of her. Her husband passed away two years ago, and her son and daughter are all abroad."

Xie Yanning remained silent.

Chai Jianming asked, "This old lady lives dozens of kilometers away from you. What did she do to you?" He couldn't believe they had any connection.

What can an elderly woman with limited mobility do?

Yes, what can an elderly woman with limited mobility do?

Xie Yanning made a vague judgment and said, "Thank you, I'll look for you again next time."

Su Wanwan's powerful biological clock made her wake up promptly at 6:30.

As soon as she opened her eyes, her mind was a little foggy. Seeing that the environment was unfamiliar, Su Wanwan paused for a moment before realizing that she was at Xie Yanning's house.

She planned to stay in bed for five more minutes.

Su Wanwan buried her face in the pillow, surprised that she could sleep so peacefully in Xie Yanning's arms.

If Xie Yanning had any ulterior motives, she probably would have died countless times already.

She yawned, stretched, and got out of bed.

Xie Yanning had already prepared toiletries for her last night.

After washing up and going downstairs, Su Wanwan found that Xie Yanning was already up and had prepared a hot breakfast.

She checked her watch; it was only 6:50.

"You're here so early?" Su Wanwan asked.

"Okay." Xie Yanning pulled out the table. "Come and have breakfast. After you finish, I'll take you to work."

Su Wanwan obediently went over.

Considering it was too early and she might not have a good appetite, Xie Yanning even prepared some appetizers for her.

"Professor Xie, how can you be so kind?"

"If I'm not good to you, who am I good to?" Xie Yanning said, "Give me your phone."

Su Wanwan obediently took out her phone.

Xie Yanning asked, "Is it okay if all the text messages on my phone are moved here?"

SMS messages exist for the purpose of verification codes.

“Okay,” Su Wanwan said.

"Good girl." Xie Yanning took out her phone and fiddled with something.

Su Wanwan knew that Xie Yanning was handling her affairs, and the thought of not having to face such disgusting text messages in the future made her feel a little better.

Anyway, she had to go to work soon, and Su Wanwan felt alive again. She said, "It doesn't matter. Even if Professor Xie takes all my wealth, I'll accept it willingly." She even winked as she spoke.

Xie Yanning grinds his teeth.

Su Wanwan is both timid and flirtatious.

After fiddling with it, Xie Yanning returned the phone to Su Wanwan.

"Could you possibly set up a wiretapping system?"

Xie Yanning glanced at her and said, "This is illegal."

"..."

Professor Xie truly keeps abiding by laws and regulations in mind at all times.

Su Wanwan said, "Professor Xie, you should study law, take the police and judge exams, and then bring bad people to justice."

Professor Xie reminded her, "If you dawdle any longer, you'll be late."

"Oh, I've finished eating."

Xie Yanning drove her there; it was early, and there weren't many people on the road.

Xie Yanning asked Su Wanwan, "What kind of car do you like?"

Su Wanwan: "???"

"Let's buy a car after get off work," Xie Yanning said.

He can't be sure he'll be there all the time, so driving to and from get off work would be much safer.

If something really happens to Su Wanwan, he will hate himself.

The car in his garage wasn't suitable for Su Wanwan to drive; it was too flashy.

Xie Yanning took Su Wanwan to the hospital. When the elevator was almost there, Xie Yanning pulled Su Wanwan over, gently kissed her forehead, and then pushed the dazed Su Wanwan into the elevator: "Let's go in."

As expected, a text message arrived when he returned to his car.

And it was sent from a different phone number.
