Chapter 13 Misty Fishing Village

Yu Kai only knew that after Uncle Yu Chen said something, his grandfather's face changed drastically. He couldn't help but be curious about what his uncle said, and his eyes kept moving between the two of them.

Yu Fan's hand, which was holding the cane, was shaking constantly. He looked at Yu Chen with complicated eyes and said in a weak voice, "No, Ah Chen, I have always considered you as family... always."

Yu Chen had a sarcastic smile on his face. He glanced at the bewildered Yu Kai imperceptibly, "Really? You really didn't hate me? After... they died."

Yu Fan naturally knew who the "they" he was talking about were. He closed his eyes to block out the sadness in them, "I... I'm sorry."

After he said this, he hurriedly pulled Yu Fan away.

"Grandpa, don't pull me, I want to play with my uncle. You clearly agreed to that last night, Grandpa!"

Yu Fan took his grandson away, leaving only Yu Chen and the little monster hidden in the pond not far from him in the courtyard.

The sudden silence in a noisy scene is the most unbearable thing, but Yu Chen just lowered his eyelashes, silently picked up the withered yellow leaves on the table, and watched the leaves spinning at his fingertips.

Mu Miao seemed to be able to see the long-accumulated loneliness in him. He was such a vibrant being, but he couldn't see any life in him. Mu Miao was inexplicably panicked and called out to him, "Yu Chen!"

Yu Chen responded, and the decayed aura that enveloped him was instantly swept away, as if it was just Mu Mu's illusion. "Awake? I thought you were asleep."

Mu Mu was used to him speaking in a veiled manner, and he opened his arms to him, wanting to get to him.

Yu Chen tutted, "You're really becoming more and more clingy."

He said this, but still stood up and walked to the pool, bent down and picked Mu Mu up from the water.

Mu Miao hugged his neck with both arms, staying on him obediently, pressing her fair and delicate face against his neck, closing her eyes and carefully feeling his regular heartbeat. "Yu Chen, why did you lie to him and say you were a monster? You are clearly a human being."

His clear and pure eyes stared at Yu Chen, and he leaned closer to his neck. "Listen, your heartbeat. That's a human heartbeat. You can't fool me."

"Living a little longer than the average human...that's not a big deal. I've even seen humans live for hundreds of years! Anyway, you're a human, not a monster."

Mu Miao said this with confidence, like a child who was smug after seeing through the obvious lies of adults. Unfortunately, all this seemed silly and ridiculous in the eyes of the complicated adults.

Yu Chen smiled helplessly, rubbed his hands in his soft hair, and said along with his words, "Yes, you are the smartest fish, naturally nothing can deceive you."

He is the same as Mu Mu, but also different.

Mu Mu is a creature blessed by nature, while he is just a monster born on a laboratory table and stitched together with a scalpel.

How can they be the same?

Mu Miao leaned on Yu Chen's shoulder. Although he did not understand the complex emotions of human beings, he knew from the interactions with his brothers that when someone is sad, company is the best comfort.

Mu Mu's voice was gentle, and she patted Yu Chen's back gently, like patting a child's back. "Don't be sad, that old man has poor eyesight and doesn't see things right. Don't take what he said to heart. Oh, and he also said that I was not serious!"

Mu Miao thought that Yu Chen was sad because he was scolded by Yu Kai, so she comforted him.

A smile flashed across Yu Chen's eyes, "Okay, I'm not angry anymore."

Mu Miao nodded in satisfaction, raised her hand and touched his head, praising him: "Good boy."

Yu Chen's body stiffened slightly for a second. Although Mu Mu had done such an offensive thing, he did not feel disgusted. Instead, he felt a strange sense of satisfaction.

Mu Mu was unaware of his complicated emotions. At this moment, a breeze blew by. Mu Mu reached out to catch the fallen leaves, and the yellowed leaves stayed in his palm.

Mu Mu stared at the leaf, then suddenly looked up at the surrounding trees.

In the scorching heat of midsummer, the lush green leaves withered quietly, as if autumn was coming, and the refreshing summer breeze was like a bitter north wind, blowing slowly and taking away the vitality.

Mu Mu's heart sank, and his body, which could adapt well to the extremely cold environment, trembled slightly. He seemed unaware of the bruises on his white and tender arms that he had pinched himself.

He called out to 001 in his heart: [001, what's going on? Why are the leaves turning yellow even though it's summer? Is... this world going to...]

001 interrupted him: "This is perfectly normal! Don't overthink it. Who says there can't be dead leaves in the middle of summer? You're just making a fuss out of nothing. Go away! Don't disturb my rest."

Mu Mu felt a little relieved, and he apologized obediently, "Is that so... I'm just too inexperienced, 001, I'm sorry to bother you."

Mu Miao pursed her lips, trying to ignore the strange feeling in her heart. Yes, there was nothing unusual about Midsummer Falling Leaves. At least... at least "He" hadn't appeared yet.

Seeing that his little face was serious, his brows were furrowed, and he looked like he was thinking deeply about something, Yu Chen couldn't help but touch his long eyelashes.

Mu Mu blinked and let him go.

Yu Chen's hand slid down to his beautiful fishtail and touched down along the scales, "Where are your legs?"

Mu Miao opened her eyes wide, "Huh?"

Legs? Why did Yu Chen know that he had legs?!

Mu Miao panicked and turned his head away, trying to cover his face. He stammered, "What legs do I have? I'm a fish. How can a fish have legs?"

Yu Chen found it amusing. He pinched his chin, turned his head, and stared into his eyes which were glancing around because of guilt.

He tapped his tail with his fingertips. "Don't try to quibble. I saw it all last night. Running around naked, accidentally falling down, and sticking out his chin..."

Mu Mu's face suddenly turned red, and she quickly covered his hand to stop him from talking about his embarrassing deeds.

Fish also have to have some dignity!

Yu Chen glanced at his tail and raised his eyebrows at the red fish. The meaning was obvious: I won’t say anything if you want to turn out legs.

Mu Mu's watery eyes were filled with shame. He hesitated and softly made a request, "Well... I can show you my legs. But you have to give me a piece of clothing. I have nothing to wear..."

Yu Chen's hand wrapped around the little mermaid's hand. His hand was smooth and delicate, soft and fluffy when pinched. The feel was excellent, making Yu Chen unable to let go. "You took a set of clothes from me last night. Where are the clothes?"

Mu Miao felt guilty and stammered, "No, it's gone."

"Oh, you lost my clothes." Yu Chen nodded, looking thoughtful. "Then what should I do? How are you going to compensate me?"

Mu Mu had to secretly take even a piece of clothing from Yu Chen, so how could he repay him? He was almost crying, "What should I do if I have nothing? How about I give you my scales, but they are not worth much... What should I do?"

Mu Miao really wanted to pluck the scales from his body to pay off his debt. After all, this was the only thing she could take from him. If it wasn't worth much, she would just pluck more.

He endured the pain and pulled out a corner of the scale, but when he was about to pull it out, Yu Chen grabbed his hand.

Yu Chen tapped the bracelet on Mu Mu's wrist and said, "Wait, I don't need your scales. Give me this."

Mu Miao was conflicted. This was the bracelet Dana gave him. Would it be inappropriate to give it to Yu Chen?

Yu Chen didn't discuss it with him much, he just untied his bracelet and took it away. Mu Mu dared to think of changing it and returning it to him, only to have something cold on his wrist.

He looked down and saw that it was also an exquisite dark green bracelet, but he didn't know what material it was made of. It felt cold on his hand.

It was decorated with many small ornaments. He looked closer and saw that among the ornaments were flowers, plants, swords, arrows and other small gadgets, each of them was small, exquisite and gorgeous.

And without exception, they are all the color of Mu Mu's eyes.

Yu Chen played with his wrist. Seeing something belonging to him on that fair white wrist filled his heart with satisfaction, and he never got tired of looking at it.

As for the original one...

Yu Chen silently put away the bracelet and prepared to find a dirty place to throw it away. It was an eyesore.
