Chapter 04 Chapter 4
Ren Li looked at it for a while but didn't quite understand it. Her stomach started to growl. Zhang Xintong didn't leave, and she was too embarrassed to mention it, so she just stood there for a long time.
Later, during halftime, Wen Shuo stood in the shade of a tree near the basketball hoop, drinking water. The girls next to him, who had come to see him, finally moved on. As Zhang Xintong had said, Wen Shuo had everything he needed, as many people had already offered him milk tea, drinks, and other snacks.
"Let's go, Lili." Zhang Xintong said, "Let's go back and eat too."
Ren Li: "Eh?" Her gaze lingered on the two rice balls in Zhou Qi and Zhang Xintong's hands for a moment, "Aren't you going to bring food to Zhou Qi?"
Zhang Xintong: "No, he's too dirty now, and he's disgusting."
Although she said so, when Ren Li followed her back to the classroom, Zhang Xintong still placed the two rice balls neatly on Zhou Qi's desk.
-
"Wen Shuo, catch the ball."
The friction sound of sneakers on the basketball court was very harsh. Zhou Qi threw the ball to Wen Shuo. Wen Shuo took it, dribbled and turned beautifully, got rid of the defense of Zhang Yang on the opposite side, and then raised the ball and jumped shot from outside the three-point line. The basketball spun in the air and drew a beautiful curve. Two seconds later, the ball went into the basket.
In an instant, girls' screams came from outside the venue, but Wen Shuo just thought they were noisy.
Zhou Qi ran towards him and extended his hand. Wen Shuo took it and bumped shoulders with him. This was their customary celebration.
"So handsome, boss." Zhou Qi said.
Wen Shuo has heard this kind of talk many times, so he didn't show any other reaction.
"How long have we been playing? Let's take a break." Wen Shuo was feeling a bit hot and even thirsty. So he left the court, walked to the shade, picked up his sports drink, and took a few gulps.
As soon as he stopped, the heat hidden in his body could no longer be suppressed, and sweat ran down his cheeks. He lifted up his shirt and wiped his face, and suddenly screams broke out around him again.
Wen Shuo was startled by the sudden sound, and then subconsciously looked towards the crowd, and then he successfully saw his "new deskmate".
Ren Li's skin was very fair, and she had a conspicuous aura in the bright sun. Wen Shuo saw her at first sight. What he didn't know was that Ren Li, a seemingly serious and obedient girl, actually liked to come to the stadium to watch handsome guys play basketball?
But later when he saw Zhang Xintong, everything seemed to make sense.
However, the Ren Li in front of him still retained some of her inherent habits. For example, just now, when Wen Shuo lifted his clothes to reveal his abdominal muscles, Ren Li seemed a little uneasy. She turned her face away and pretended to talk to Zhang Xintong to cover up her embarrassment.
Wen Shuo felt that he worked so hard every day to eat so much protein and train so hard to get in shape, just to show off and satisfy his own weird vanity. But he had never seen someone like Ren Li before, and although he clearly wanted to see her, he was reluctant and even a little embarrassed.
Wen Shuo suddenly thought, what would she do if he stood in front of her and took off his shirt to reveal his figure? Would she cry out of fear? That would be fun.
He didn't know why he suddenly had such a childish thought. But it was just a thought, and the thought disappeared immediately.
After drinking the water, he went to play basketball with Zhou Qi again.
Today ended not too late, but he had a great time. After all, summer vacation had just ended, and it was human nature not to want to go to school. He needed some exercise to relieve his current mood.
When the show was over, Wen Shuo glanced at the crowd. Ren Li and Zhang Xintong were nowhere to be seen. He knew Zhang Xintong had come to see Zhou Qi, and he also knew that the two of them must have gone back to the classroom to eat.
"Senior, wait a moment." When he was walking back, a girl from the lower grade called him.
Wen Shuo looked in the direction of the voice and saw that she was holding a McDonald's bag and some smoothie drinks bought from a milk tea shop.
Wen Shuo: "What's wrong?"
The girl was a little shy, and she stretched out her hand and handed the thing over: "Senior, this is for you."
Many people in No. 4 Middle School actually know that Wen Shuo never accepts things from girls, but there are still girls who bring some food over, especially the freshman girls who are new to the school this year, who probably haven't run into any problems with Wen Shuo yet.
But she soon hit a snag.
After leaving the basketball court, there was only half an hour left before the afternoon class. Several of the people who played basketball with me, who lived on campus, had to hurry back to the dorms to shower. In a blink of an eye, only Wen Shuo, Zhou Qi, and a boy from the next class named Zhang Yang were left.
"What should we do now? Should we go to your house to take a shower?" Zhang Yang does not live on campus and his home is far away, but he knows where he can take a shower, such as Wen Shuo's house.
Wen Shuo: "Let's go."
Zhou Qi held the basketball: "Okay."
The three of them walked side by side towards the small door at the back of the school. This was a very hidden exit that most people didn't know about. It was connected to a high-end residential area. Many parents who came to accompany their children to study would rent or buy houses here. Wen Shuo's parents were one of them.
However, after buying the house, Wen Shuo never lived there. He still took the school bus back to his home, which was not close by. He didn't like to have any close connection with the school. If he could still hear the school bell after school, wouldn't that be the same as living in the school dormitory?
But the good thing here is that you can take a nap, although in most cases, it is only used for other purposes, such as washing up after today's basketball game.
The front door had a fingerprint combination lock, so Wen Shuo didn't need to bring any keys. He opened the door, and several people walked in. The first thing they did was turn on the air conditioner.
There are two bathrooms here. Wen Shuo went to one of them. Zhou Qi lost the game of finger-guessing with Zhang Yang and had to stay in the living room alone.
He searched the refrigerator and the kitchen but couldn't find anything to eat, so he had to give up.
Wen Shuo showered quickly, but Zhou Qi was a bit slow. By the time they had packed up, changed into their uniforms, and returned to school, it was almost time for class.
Zhang Yang was from Class 13 and left midway. Wen Shuo entered Class 17 through the back door and sat at his desk when he felt a little hungry.
He remembered that he had some meat snacks like beef strips in the hole in his desk, which could last him at least one class, and then he could buy some other food after class.
So he reached into the hole in the table and fumbled for a long time, but he didn't find the beef strips, but he did find a magazine.
That magazine belongs to Zhou Qi, and he probably just put it there. Wen Shuo never buys magazines because he has a huge hard drive.
Although Zhou Qi always said that good things are worth collecting, Wen Shuo never thought so. A magazine is heavy, expensive and hard to buy. It is more economical to buy beef strips.
As soon as the magazine was taken out, Ren Li happened to see it.
Ren Li was originally hesitating whether to give him the rice ball, but when she looked up, she saw the magazine in Wen Shuo's hand. She instantly forgot what she wanted to say and stood there in a daze for a moment.
Wen Shuo watched as Ren Li's ears quickly turned pink, and some thoughts of wanting to scare her popped up in his mind one after another.
He deliberately took the magazine in his hand and flipped through a few pages. Sure enough, Ren Li immediately turned her head away and refused to look at him.
Wen Shuo curled the corners of his lips and threw the magazine back into the hole in the table.
The beef jerky wasn't found, and the afternoon bell rang soon. The first period was He Guang's math class, and Wen Shuo had always been good at math. If he had known this, he felt he could have stayed on the basketball court for another half hour.
Teacher He placed a stack of test papers and his signature teacup with a lid on the podium, glanced around the classroom, and then opened the courseware.
"Wen Shuo." He Guang called him, "Let's distribute yesterday's math test papers to everyone."
Ren Li looked up and saw Wen Shuo lazily standing up from the table. He walked to the podium, picked up the stack of test papers and distributed them to the students in the front row. Everyone passed them to each other, and then he walked back.
Ren Li:?
She actually didn't quite understand the significance of Teacher He asking Wen Shuo to go up and distribute the test papers. After all, Wen Shuo only walked back and forth once.
However, Wen Shuo knew that He Guang just thought he would be sleepy in the afternoon, and he just wanted to call his name and ask him to get up and walk around, whether he had anything to do or not.
When he returned, the test papers in the classroom were almost finished. Wen Shuo also got his own test paper, and as expected, all the annotations on it were red check marks.
It was just freshman-year high school knowledge, really simple. Yesterday at Zhao Manyue's birthday party, Zhou Qi brought him a test, and he finished it in just twenty minutes after returning home.
Ren Li was also looking forward to the math test. This was the first time she had tested her learning level since coming to No. 4 Middle School, so it was naturally of great significance.
But she waited for a long time, until everyone got their own copy, and even Teacher He had already started to point out the wrong questions at the podium, but Ren Li still hadn't seen her test paper.
She gently poked Zhang Xintong, who was sitting in front of her. He leaned back, put his ear close to her, and whispered, "Baby, what's wrong?"
Ren Li: "Xintong, did you get the test paper? Mine is gone."
Zhang Xintong thought for a while and said, "Perhaps, you can ask Wen Shuo if he lost it?"
After being prompted by the other party, Ren Li had no choice but to ask Wen Shuo shamelessly, although she had just thought it would be better to "draw some boundaries" with Wen Shuo.
"Math test..."
Before Ren Li finished speaking, Zhou Qi, who was across the aisle, interrupted and said, "Boss, please lend me your math test paper."
Zhou Qi and Wen Shuo were originally very close, but when Ren Li chose her seat, she happened to pick one between them. So now, every time Zhou Qi spoke to Wen Shuo, he would reach over Ren Li, like a sandwich.
Perhaps because Ren Li was close by, Wen Shuo noticed her problem first, and then he remembered that Ren Li's test paper was still with him. He did not give it to He Guang, and did not have time to correct it.
He remembered that he had casually placed Ren Li's test paper on the table, but there was nothing on the table except two books.
On the other side, Zhou Qi was still looking at him eagerly. Wen Shuo shook his head at Zhou Qi, and the other party had to turn around and sit down again.
Ren Li watched Wen Shuo looking down for something, wondering what was going on. Wen Shuo finally sighed and handed over his test paper: "Forget it, I can't find it. You can look at mine first."
Ren Li: “Hmm?”
Wen Shuo: "Maybe Teacher He lost your test paper."
Ren Li: ...
After saying that, Wen Shuo thought that Ren Li would cry the next second. However, he guessed wrong. Ren Li didn't cry, but just said "oh" and her mood instantly became subdued.
She is angry, Wen Shuo thought.
Ren Li was silent for a while and said, "Then I'll go ask Teacher He after class."
In order not to miss class, she had to share a test paper with Wen Shuo. The thin paper was spread out between the two tables, folded along the line, giving each of them exactly half.
When Ren Li saw the red ticks on the test paper, she suddenly realized that Wen Shuo's grades might be extraordinary.
The solution ideas on the test paper were very correct, exactly the same as what the teacher wrote on the blackboard. In contrast, it took me almost a whole class period to do these math problems yesterday. Some of the questions were difficult, and some were easy. Many of them were even unique to No. 4 Middle School. I had never encountered them before, so I was a little slow to get started.
She took a quick look and found that she seemed to have made mistakes on a few questions.
So Ren Li felt even worse.
After finishing the first page of the test, Teacher He took a sip of water and continued on to the next page. Ren Li copied the questions she was concerned about into the wrong question collection, and then saw Wen Shuo flip the test paper over.
The topic he was about to discuss was on his side, and Wen Shuo suddenly leaned in closer. He had long eyelashes, a straight nose, and a close breath...
Ren Li was a little uncomfortable for a moment and stepped back a little. Wen Shuo looked up, confused, and Ren Li said hurriedly, "Thank you."
Wen Shuo:?
He suddenly pushed the test paper to Ren Li: "Here you go, I don't need to look at it."
After an awkward math class, Ren Li, who was kept in the dark, even felt that her new deskmate did help her a lot at times.
After class, Zhou Qi began to eat the rice balls Zhang Xintong had given him. He was talking to Wen Shuo, who casually said something, perhaps something like he wanted some too. Hearing this, Ren Li finally mustered up the courage to pass on the extra "thank you rice balls" she had bought for lunch under the table to Wen Shuo.
Ren Li: "I have another one here, why don't you eat this one."
Her voice was soft and gentle again, as if she was afraid of being known by others. She didn't even look at Wen Shuo much when she handed it to her. On the surface, she seemed calm and nothing had happened, but her action of handing it over was a little nervous.
Wen Shuo didn't move, but Ren Li saw that Zhang Xintong was about to turn around, so she stuffed the rice ball into Wen Shuo's hand without saying a word, then picked up the water cup and went to the front of the classroom to get some water.
Wen Shuo looked at her back and weighed the rice ball in his hand, feeling puzzled.
