Chapter 154 Impersonation

The car stopped in front of a magnificent manor, and Xu Anran followed the butler out of the car and into the manor.

"Miss, please tidy up first. We need to go to the main hall in a little while. Master and Madam are waiting for you there." The butler led Xu Anran to a room, opened the door, and invited her in.

Xu Anran stepped inside and saw two maids waiting for her.

After a flurry of activity, Xu Anran appeared in a beautiful dress, with her hair styled in a pretty updo and her face adorned with exquisite makeup, looking completely refreshed.

Then Xu Anran was led to the main hall and saw the owner of the place.

A middle-aged man, dressed in a suit, exudes an air of elegance and success, full of gentlemanly manners, as he sits at a table drinking coffee.

A woman who takes good care of herself looks to be in her thirties, dressed exquisitely and elegantly, sitting next to a man.

There was also a boy of about fifteen or sixteen years old next to him, who was playing with the bracelet out of boredom.

As Xu Anran approached, they stopped what they were doing and looked at her.

The man and woman showed no emotion, only faint smiles, while the boy looked at her with a playful and inquisitive gaze.

Xu Anran stood opposite them, and the man smiled and said, "Is that Amy? It's great to see you back. Come and sit down here."

Besides the bracelet, Xu Anran also found a letter on the dead girl's body.

That letter was left by the girl's mother.

The man in front of me was of mixed race, named Sean, and was the heir to the Kex family.

The girl's mother is Asian, because the girl clearly has an Asian face.

According to the letter, when Sean was young, he met the girl's mother on a mission, and the two fell in love and had a daughter named Amy. Later, the man suddenly disappeared.

The girl's mother fell ill, and the family spent all their money, forcing them to move into a slum.

Xu Anran sat down obediently, not daring to say much, thinking that the less she said, the less mistakes she would make.

The man recounted his youth, saying that he fell in love with the girl's mother, but later lost his memory due to an injury during a mission. After returning home, he inherited the family business, married, and had children.

Two years ago, he began to recall the past and wanted to find them, and only recently did he get a clue.

He was saddened to learn that the girl's mother had passed away.

But he was overjoyed to have found the girl. He took Xu Anran's hand and said, "You should rest well first. A doctor will give you a check-up tomorrow. Don't worry, now that you're back, Dad will take good care of you."

Xu Anran smiled shyly: "Okay, sure."

After Xu Anran left, the woman smiled and said, "Amnesia?"

Sean stood up and said helplessly, "Let's bear with it for now. We can have the surgery once Ollie's condition stabilizes."

He took a sip of his coffee and turned to the boy: "You'd better behave yourself lately and don't let her see anything. We need to get her to agree to the surgery."

The boy pouted and said, "I know, Father."

The next day, just as dawn was breaking, Xu Anran was woken up by the maid, who said that the doctor had arrived and was waiting at the door.

She put on casual clothes, and after the doctor came in, he did some basic examinations and asked her some questions, he took her to a room with many things that looked like hibernation pods.

The doctor explained to Xu Anran that these were medical cabins where she could undergo examinations and treatments.

The doctor had Xu Anran lie down in the medical pod and told her how to activate the device, which Xu Anran obediently did.

After entering the medical pod, Xu Anran lay inside. A mechanical arm reached out and inserted a needle into Xu Anran's arm to draw blood.

Then various scans were performed, and the examination was completed in just over ten minutes. Xu Anran was a little nervous during the process.

After she got up in the morning, she wrapped the blood she had taken from the girl in golden light and put it into her arm.

Just as the syringe was about to be inserted into her arm, she used golden light to move the girl's blood to the appropriate location.

After a ten-minute examination, Xu Anran did not leave; she planned to wait for the results there.

The technology here is very advanced; the results of all the tests came out in just half an hour.

Seeing the results of the genetic testing, which indicated a 99% parent-child relationship, Xu Anran breathed a sigh of relief.

However, her body scan showed "unknown" for her heart, indicating it was not her original heart, suggesting it was a mechanical heart.

Looking at the report, the doctor asked Xu Anran, "Ms. Amy, what's wrong with your heart?"

"I have a heart condition, so someone replaced it with a mechanical heart," Xu Anran lied.

The doctor then told Xu Anran to go home and rest, while he took the report and left to report the situation to Sean.

On the other side, Qi Ziqi arrived at a large cathedral and walked in with many other people.

The people inside were all praying devoutly. Qi Ziqi saw the person in the portrait that Xu Anran had given her.

After the prayers ended, he followed the group to the back of the church and saw a bearded man talking to the priest inside.

The two men looked pleased and chatted very congenially. After they seemed to have discussed something, the bearded man left with his men.

Qi Ziqi followed closely behind them to a residential building. After seeing these people enter room 301, Qi Ziqi returned to the hotel to find Yang Ru and asked her for help.

An hour later, Yang Ru looked at Qi Ziqi and asked, "What do you need me to do?"

Qi Ziqi said, "Help me plant a bugging device. I want to see what those people are saying."

Yang Ru didn't say, "How should I put it?"

Qi Ziqi thought about what she had heard today—that the people here go to church to pray every day—and said, “You come to church with me tomorrow morning. Pretend to be passing by and put a listening device on them.”

In a luxurious karaoke room, Fan Yunfei and Ah Hao sat together, holding several bracelets. Fan Yunfei said, "Brother Hao, not bad, thanks. If you ever need anything, just ask me, I'll definitely help."

Ah-hao was also very polite: "Don't mention it. I was wondering who was so capable that they could even get into the government system. I didn't expect to meet them so soon."

Seeing that Fan Yunfei was about to return the handheld computer to him, he quickly stopped him, saying, "Don't be so polite. We're all brothers, and we'll be cooperating in the future. This isn't worth much money, just take it."

Fan Yunfei smiled sheepishly and agreed. After the two added each other as friends on the bracelet, they left with their entourage.

"Vice President, they got identity bracelets at a karaoke bar in the Upper District. Should we go get them?" someone asked.

The man wearing gold-rimmed glasses glanced at the person who spoke, but said nothing.

The woman next to him said, "When we get the identity bracelets, they help us enter our information into the system, and that's how they see us. If he knows one of us, we'll be exposed!"

The vice president said coldly, "Continue to monitor, but don't take any unnecessary actions. Also, find someone with authority in the upper district and have them gather everyone in the mutual aid team in his name."
