Chapter 163 The Flag

Chu Xingchen would either be killed by the Medu bird or become infected. He would rather die than be infected and become like that.

Just as he felt he was about to be forced to use his ability to save himself, a knife suddenly appeared and pierced the neck of a Medusa bird. Seeing the sword that suddenly appeared in front of him and the gushing blood, Chu Xingchen breathed a sigh of relief.

Before he could react, the knife severed the heads of two more Medusas nearby, and the surrounding Medusas fell to the ground. Only then did Chu Xingchen see the owner of the knife—Xu Anran.

Chu Xingchen wanted to thank Xu Anran, but he was too busy dealing with the approaching Medusa to speak. He then heard Xu Anran say, "Can you handle these two by yourself?"

"Sure," Chu Xingchen replied, brandishing his weapon.

Having received the reply, Xu Anran sprinted in the other direction, shouting, "Close your eyes!"

Lucy was surrounded by Midas. She and Vivi had almost finished dealing with the situation when another Midas rushed in and separated them. Surrounded, Lucy could only look at the ground and observe with her peripheral vision, because if she looked up, she would make eye contact with the Midas.

The Medusa's sharp claws attacked Lucy's face. She tried to jump up to dodge, but if she looked up, she would see the Medusa's eyes. Just then, Xu Anran's voice came and told her to close her eyes, which Lucy did.

Xu Anran rushed over, jumped onto the Medusa, and kicked away the Medusa that was too close. The Medusa looked at her and attacked wildly with its sharp claws. Xu Anran had golden light protecting her eyes, so she dodged the attacks and plunged the knife in her hand into their necks, one after another. She shouted to Lucy, who was still with her eyes closed, "That's enough, look down."

Lucy opened her eyes and, out of the corner of her eye, saw the fallen Midori bird and Xu Anran, who had saved her. She picked up her weapon and ran over to fight alongside Xu Anran.

Seeing that the number of Medusa was decreasing, and considering that she could handle the Medusa on Vivi's side, Xu Anran fought with the Medusa while moving along the route she had previously chosen.

With a "crack," another Madonna fell to the ground. Xu Anran saw that there were only four Madonnas left on the field. She also noticed that although the three people had suffered minor injuries, they should be out of danger. She quietly left and went up to the mountaintop.

The last Midori bird fell to the ground. Lucy looked up and around, frowning as she asked, "Have you seen Amy?"

Weiwei and Chu Xingchen both shook their heads. Chu Xingchen took out a first-aid kit to bandage herself, and Weiwei said, "Did she go up the mountain?"

Lucy glanced at the path leading up the mountain and chuckled softly, "It should be."

The three of them remained silent, but they tacitly refrained from mentioning the flag again.

The live stream room is incredibly lively right now.

[I never expected this! Amy from the "useless" class is the most amazing.]

[They call it a useless class? It's an unlimited class!]

"Come on, she can't use her powers right now. If she could, she'd be done for."

Don't forget, she can awaken again; who knows, she might awaken a powerful ability later.

[How could that be? Over the years, those who successfully awakened in the "useless class" have all had mediocre abilities.]

No, Qi Shen is really amazing.

That's an exception!

Look, she's about to get the flag!

What's the point of getting it? Someone else might snatch it away later.

After finally climbing up, with no monsters around, Xu Anran picked up the flag stuck in the center of the mountaintop. It was a red flag about half her size, with the school emblem printed on it, and it was very conspicuous. Xu Anran wanted to put it into the space bag issued by the school, but she couldn't.

This seems to be a deliberate arrangement by the school, to prevent students from hiding the flags, so that someone would try to snatch them on the way down the mountain.

Xu Anran thought that with 100 points in hand, plus another 50 or 60 points from the monsters she killed along the way, if she could successfully plant the flag after descending the mountain, she would have an additional 200 points, which should guarantee her victory.

She wrapped the flag up, tied it to her back, and chose another route down the mountain.

She had only walked a short distance when she saw several figures in the distance. She quickly ducked into the bushes and lay down. The figures drew closer; they were several teachers, two of whom were returning from checking things out at the mountaintop.

One of them said, "The flag has been taken away, and the Midori birds should all be dealt with. Let's go back to where we were."

Everyone else nodded in agreement and left one after another. The last person to leave glanced at Xu Anran's spot before departing.

Xu Anran emerged from the bushes and hurried down the mountain. Along the way, she encountered several groups of people going up the mountain, but she managed to avoid them all.

When she reached the halfway point of the mountain, she felt something flying towards her face, and she turned her head to the right to dodge it.

It was a whip. Looking at the person who had taken back the whip, there was a blonde girl and a dark-skinned boy next to her.

The two looked at Xu Anran, and the girl said, "If you give me the flag now, I can let you leave."

Xu Anran slowly backed away. Realizing she was trying to escape, the boy quickly moved behind her, and the two of them surrounded her, trapping her.

Left with no other option, Xu Anran had to take out her weapon to fight.

The long whip lashed out, and Xu Anran leaned back to dodge it. The boy then brought down a knife, and Xu Anran rolled forward to the girl's feet.

Xu Anran knocked the girl down and held a knife to her neck. The boy didn't dare to step forward, and Xu Anran held the girl down tightly.

While Xu Anran wasn't paying attention, the boy reached behind his back and pulled out a gun from his waistband. Xu Anran saw through his intention and was about to use the girl as a shield when she was shot.

Suddenly, a figure rushed forward and, before anyone could react, knocked the boy unconscious with a stick.

Xu Anran also knocked the girl unconscious with the handle of a knife, then stepped forward and said, "Impressive, class monitor!"

White smiled shyly, and a group of people came out from behind him—his classmates.

They were all surprised to see the flag on Xu An's back, and the group chattered excitedly.

After all, this was unprecedented. If Xu Anran planted the flag, she would be the first person from the "useless class" to win the competition.

Everyone was more united and expectant than ever about Xu Anran's victory, even more nervous than Xu Anran herself.

The group discussed how they could finish the rest of the journey.

Finally, everyone agreed that they would go down the mountain together to provide cover for Xu Anran.

And so, the group descended the mountain in a grand procession, with Xu Anran walking in the middle of them. Some people were scouting ahead, while others were guarding behind.

Once they spotted someone, they told Xu Anran to hide and wait until the person had passed before continuing their descent.

As they approached the bottom of the mountain, the trees no longer provided any cover. They stopped and sent two people down to check the situation. They discovered that there were many people guarding the place where the flags were planted, waiting for someone to come and snatch the flag at the finish line.

Everyone looked worried; they knew that a direct confrontation would be futile.

Just as the group was feeling gloomy and dejected, a voice broke the silence.

"I have an idea." The speaker was An Xin, a girl who had always been rather unremarkable.
