Chapter 17 Invasion - Another Start

After discussing their plan, they returned to the warehouse. Looking at the chubby boy staring expectantly at them, Xu Anran said, "We'll take your two tickets, which have six months left on the countdown, as payment for your escape with us. As for this ticket," Xu Anran showed the ticket with less than two months left, "you have two choices. First, you can leave immediately, and we can give you the ticket right now. Second, you can come with us, and we need to observe your behavior to make sure you won't harm us before we return the ticket to you."

The chubby boy answered without hesitation, "I choose the second option, I'll follow you."

Li Xue asked in surprise, "Aren't you going to consider it?" "Hey, consider what? I really don't want to be alone anymore, and I don't know where to go. I might as well go with you guys. We're all passengers, there's no conflict of interest, and we can help each other out."

Xu Anran then asked, "Have you ever killed a monster?" "No, how could I dare?"

"So how did you get into the shelter?" "I came here about six months ago. By the way, after arriving in the new world, the train ticket becomes our ID card, and all the money and stuff is from the gold I brought from the previous world. After I arrived, I first went to an internet cafe to gather information, then rented a house. Because I'm a pretty good hacker, I could see what was happening outside by hacking into the city's surveillance system. I discovered that a shelter had been built, and it was quite close to where I was staying. I planned my route and headed to the shelter, and that's how I met you guys."

Grandpa Li asked curiously, "What kinds of disasters did you encounter in your previous world?"

"In my first world, which was the world I originally lived in, there was a torrential rain that submerged the entire world. In the second world, meteorites fell from the sky, and you could be crushed to death if you weren't careful. Thinking back on it now, I still feel a little scared," the chubby boy said dejectedly. "I don't know when it will end." Grandpa Li comforted him, "It will end sooner or later. As long as you are alive, there is hope."

After everyone finished chatting, Xu Anran untied the chubby boy, and they all made do with resting in the convenience store for the night.

The next day, at eight o'clock, when it was already bright, Xu Anran said, "It's too close to the shelter here, it's still not safe. We have to leave."

Li Xue asked, "Where to?"

Grandpa Li said, "How about we go to some suburbs or mountains? There are fewer surveillance cameras there, so we're less likely to be spotted." Little Fatty also said, "I have a city map in my bag, so I can follow the map."

Xu Anran said, "Okay, let's pack up. Fatty and Grandpa Li can stay here to look at the map and figure out the route. In a little while, the squad leader will take Xiaoyue to see what supplies are available nearby to collect. I'll go look around for a vehicle. We'll meet here in an hour. If anything happens, please call me anytime."

After saying that, she picked up her phone and noticed something was wrong. "Do your phones have a signal?" The three of them looked at their phones and shook their heads. "Mine doesn't work either." "Me neither." "Looks like our phones won't work anymore." Li Xue said, "Did you notice? This shop has no electricity. Could the whole city be experiencing a power outage?"

Xiaoyue asked, "Then the surveillance cameras aren't working anymore?" Grandpa Li shook his head: "No, the surveillance cameras have their own dedicated line. Look." Grandpa Li pointed to the surveillance camera outside the convenience store, which was still flashing red.

Xu Anran said, "No matter what, we need to leave here as soon as possible and find a place without surveillance cameras. See you in an hour." With that, she left. Li Xue and Xiao Yue also prepared to go find supplies.

After walking a distance, Xu Anran found a secluded spot, took out her bicycle from her spatial storage, and rode along the road until she saw an electric car shop. Xu Anran put the bicycle back in her spatial storage, took out her black knife, and observed outside for about ten minutes. When there was no movement, she cautiously walked into the shop.

I walked around the first floor but didn't see anyone. When I got to the second floor, I could vaguely hear voices. I listened closer and heard about five or six people inside, including two women and the rest of the men. They were discussing going to find something to eat nearby, and I could also hear the women crying intermittently.

Xu Anran didn't want to cause any trouble. Seeing that they wouldn't be coming out anytime soon, she quietly went downstairs. She found a car key, unlocked one of the cars, and quickly drove off.

After driving for a short while, Xu Anran stopped to make sure no cars were following her, which reassured her. She then stopped at two more shops along the way to collect some items to store in her storage space. She took out two solar charging panels, a box of instant noodles, and a box of bread from her storage space, put them in the trunk, and drove back to the convenience store.

After Xu Anran left, Li Xue and Xiao Yue, carrying bags and stun guns, went out. They first went to the small shop near the school gate, but there wasn't much food left. They found two large suitcases and packed the remaining toilet paper, sanitary napkins, towels, toothpaste, and other daily necessities. Next, they went to a nearby real estate agency to find some snacks and drinks, and then to several other nearby shops to find chocolates, light blankets, sneakers, water purification tablets, and other useful items they could carry.

With ten minutes left until the agreed time, Li Xue pulled two large suitcases back, with Xiao Yue keeping watch beside her. The two made their way back to the convenience store without incident. No sooner had they arrived than Xu An returned, drove the car to the door, and told everyone to load their things. The chubby boy sat in the front passenger seat, while the other three sat in the back.

In the car, the chubby boy showed Xu Anran the map and told her the route. They would drive east for about forty kilometers to a mountainous area, where there would be fewer people and it would be more remote, so there shouldn't be any surveillance cameras. Xu Anran asked everyone to keep an eye out for hardware stores or car charging stations along the way, and to remind her to stop if they found any. After giving her instructions, they set off!

Meanwhile, in the shelter, the humans had been taken over by the monsters, and Xu Weiqin and some others hid in the sewers.

Here are Xu Weiqin and her roommates Shen Qingqing, Li Zhiyuan, and another roommate. Besides them, there are also Xu Liang, Army Officer, and that Xiao Wang.

When Xu Weiqin saw Xu Anran's message, the shelter was already in chaos. Knowing she couldn't get out on her own, she gathered everyone in the dormitory to escape together. Taking advantage of the chaos, she found Xu Liang and a few others in the neighborhood, whom she considered to be the strongest fighters.

After finding them, Xu Weiqin said she knew the escape route through the sewers. Seeing the state of the shelter, it was clear they couldn't leave through the main entrance; the only option was the sewers. So, Xiao Wang and the others led Xu Weiqin and the other three into the sewers. During the escape, Xiao Wang was injured and bleeding, but fortunately it was only a minor cut. He bandaged himself with strips of cloth torn from his clothes and was fine. Everyone followed Xu Weiqin and escaped through the sewers.
