Fan Yunfei asked, his face full of doubt, "Why did we come to this library? Why don't we just drive away?"
Xu Anran, standing to the side, explained, "Look, this is the top medical university in the country! If any disaster strikes, the country will definitely prioritize sending personnel to rescue this place. So, we can take refuge here temporarily and patiently wait for the rescue team to arrive."
After listening carefully, Fan Yunfei thought about it for a while and felt that what he said made a lot of sense, so he asked, "In that case, should we remind everyone in the group?"
At this moment, Xu Liang chimed in, "Hmm... I think it's a good idea. After all, the very purpose of our mutual aid association is to help each other."
"Then who should give the presentation?" Xiao Feng immediately asked.
As everyone looked at each other in bewilderment, Xu Liang stepped forward and replied without hesitation, "Then let me do it." Before he finished speaking, he had already begun editing relevant information and sent Xu Anran's speculations about the rescue team to the group.
At the same time, Fan Yunfei also acted quickly, capturing the horrifying scene he had just witnessed on the surveillance footage and creating a short video, which he then posted in the group to inform everyone that a zombie outbreak had occurred!
The four of them glanced at the messages in the group chat and then began tidying up the library. Xu Anran placed her and Xiao Feng's tent in front of the window where the train tickets had appeared in her dream, and then had Xu Liang set up another large tent on the opposite side, some distance away from them. She also indicated that Xu Liang and Fan Yunfei should share a tent, and quietly instructed him to keep an eye on Fan Yunfei's movements.
Suddenly, a cacophony of footsteps approached from afar, as if the entire world was enveloped in the commotion. Like a flock of panicked sheep, countless students swarmed out of the school building, running wildly in all directions. Their faces were filled with fear and despair as they looked around, desperately searching for a way to escape this nightmare.
Most students rushed to the cafeteria and dormitories, seemingly their last refuge. As they entered these places, they slammed the doors shut without hesitation, as if this would shut out the terror from the outside world. However, the zombies relentlessly pursued them, their grotesque faces sending chills down the spine.
Those students who were unfortunately locked out had no choice but to hastily choose nearby laboratories, libraries, or small shops as hiding places. Everyone was running desperately, hoping to find a safe corner.
Xu Anran and the others stood at the window, peering out. They saw more than twenty terrified figures pouring into the library. Those who lagged behind were not so lucky; they were all grabbed tightly by the zombies that surged from all sides, letting out shrill screams. The people who entered the library quickly closed the doors and locked them securely.
Xiao Feng turned his head and looked at Xu Anran, his tone tinged with unease: "Sister Anran, should we go down too?"
Xu Anran nodded slightly and replied, "Yes, let's go down. After all, we'll be spending some more time with them. Besides, this library has five floors, and we're on the top floor now, so we probably won't have much contact with them normally. We just need to greet them and let them know there are other people here."
Downstairs, a deathly silence hung in the air. A group of people sat slumped in their chairs as if their souls had been ripped away, their eyes glazed and filled with fear as they stared intently through the window at the chilling scene outside.
The outside world had become a bloody hell, with grotesque zombies frantically devouring and tearing humans apart. Some unfortunate individuals, after being infected, rapidly mutated, becoming new zombies and joining this horrific feast. They wandered aimlessly, sniffing their surroundings with their foul-smelling noses, searching for their next unfortunate prey.
Some timid girls were already terrified, their faces pale. They covered their mouths tightly, trying to keep their cries from leaking out, but tears still streamed down their cheeks like a burst dam.
The boy with dyed yellow hair appeared unusually agitated. He angrily kicked the chair next to him to vent his extreme fear and anger.
However, this sudden noise acted like a fuse, instantly igniting the entire situation.
The nearby, perceptive zombies immediately sensed something amiss and swarmed towards the scene, beginning to violently pound on the doors and windows. In an instant, the previously peaceful interior descended into chaos. People screamed in panic, some blaming and complaining to each other, while others broke down in uncontrollable sobs.
This is the scene that Xu Anran and the others saw when they came down from upstairs.
The sight before them left them speechless, momentarily at a loss for what to do. They tried to calm everyone down, but no one was willing to follow their orders. Fear spread like a plague, devouring everyone's reason...
Xu Anran nodded firmly to Xu Liang and slightly raised her hand, signaling him to act with her. The two moved swiftly and in perfect unison to the group of disobedient individuals. With agile movements, they struck the necks of the men without hesitation. In an instant, the men collapsed to the ground like puppets without support.
Just then, a girl witnessed this scene, terrified, and instinctively wanted to scream to release her fear. However, in a flash, Fan Yunfei, who was standing nearby, rushed forward and covered the girl's mouth. If there had been any hesitation, the shrill scream would have echoed throughout the space, attracting even more terrifying zombies.
At that moment, the previously noisy and bustling scene instantly fell silent, as if time itself had frozen. Everyone held their breath, not daring to make a sound.
Xu Anran lowered her voice and explained to those who remained conscious in an extremely firm tone, "Don't worry, everyone. These zombies are blind; they can only sense their surroundings through sound. So, please keep absolutely quiet and stay away from the doorway as much as possible." Her words reassured them somewhat.
After exchanging a glance, they finally decided to follow Xu Anran's instructions. They carefully lifted their feet, as if afraid of disturbing even the slightest breath of air, and slowly moved inside. Each step seemed so heavy and cautious, as if they were stepping not on the ground, but on a layer of ice as thin as a cicada's wing, and the slightest carelessness would send them plunging into an abyss.
